Demand Brands Recognize That Nude Is Not Just One Color
Help Nude Against Nude’s voice grow stronger by tweeting at these major brands on October 4, 2017 with the tweet below: I disagree with @esteelauder @loreal @JNJCares use of ‘nude’. Nude is many colors, not just white. #NudeAgainstNude nudeagainstnude.com NUDE AGAINST NUDE It is 2017. Some brands still describe their cream or beige products as ‘nude’. They still cater to only bare white skin. As long as ‘nude’ is used interchangeably with beige, we alienate millions of people of color in a casual instance of racism.Nude Against Nude demands that these brands change any products labeled as nude to beige or cream.Through Instagram and wild postings in New York, Nude Against Nude is getting the word out there. Through this petition, we are getting it to the right people. When you sign the petition you join us in confronting brands that still propagate ‘nude’ as one color. You demand they include the millions they have ignored. Follow us on Twitter/Instagram: @nudeagainstnudeFind out more: http://nudeagainstnude.com/Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
Petition to Facebook
Ban the eggplant emoji as it is a sign of female oppression and promotes rape culture.
Picture this; an innocent woman sitting on the couch eating popcorn and watching "Thelma and Louise", when a friend she is messaging sends the eggplant emoji in a sexually explicit manner. Immediately she feels dirty, like he violated her space. like she was intellectually violated. The eggplant emoji is highly problematic. Why does it even exist? Obviously it's a sign of the patriarchy, and its only inherent value is to oppress women. This can't be aloud to continue, Imagine all the women traumatized by the intellectual rape that takes place. We can't allow this harassment to continue. We need to act now so other women don't get intellectually violated.Facebook and other platforms need to remove this emoji. It is a violent symbol whose only purpose is to oppress and violate women
Petition to HBO, Time Warner, Casey Bloys
Get Bill Maher off of HBO - it's more than the N-word
UPDATE: This is much simpler than we're making it. Read more here on why. Last night Bill Maher casually dropped the N-word. And it's time for him to go. We have allowed Bill Maher to make sexist, islamaphobic and "borderline" racist comments before. And we often wind up debating things like political correctness while feeding his massive ego. This is no longer about political correctness and a clear line has been crossed. HBO and Time Warner have to be good corporate citizens and get him off the air. Do not forget that this angry, crotchety entitled man is ALWAYS punching down. When he, while conversing with a fellow white man and elected official, apropos of nothing at all, refers to himself as a "House Nigger" and then chuckles, I think we can agree that the buck has to stop here. In this racially tense, deeply divided, powder keg moment in America, the last thing we need is young people of color hearing a supposed ally casually using the word Nigger and normalizing its use for all white people on a massive media platform. Maher's usage was neither funny, nor was it informative or conversation advancing...it was simply inflammatory and indicative of what Bill Mahler truly is: a culture troll craving conversation. So let's give HBO the conversation that Bill so desperately craves. You know, the one where either Bill gets cancelled or our HBO and cable subscriptions do. See for yourself and then support and share this petition. Tweet it to Casey Bloys, head of HBO programming. Post it on Facebook. Email your entire softball team. This guy has got to go.
Petition to White women
Pledge for Action (and self-Education) in Support of All Who Remain Oppressed
In response to Barbara Sostaita's article, I'll Pass on "Unity" and the Womens March, I have created this petition to answer her call. Allyship of white women for women of color, transwomen, sex workers, undocumented women, incarcerated women, poor women, lesbians, bisexual and queer women, women with 'dis'abilities, (and their genderqueer and men counterparts) has involved too much empty talk and not enough action. Please sign below to pledge for her (edited) suggested changes in action: When Trump or others comes for undocumented people and families, I will literally put my body on the lines for them. When shit hits the fan and our Black, Muslim, undocumented, Native, queer sisters’ lives are in jeopardy, I will be among the first ones there. I understand that my white sisters (and their mothers and their grandmothers) voted in Trump. I recognize that women of color have been struggling their entire lives. Racism is not new and resistance has never been optional. Beyond marching for a day, I commit to the lifelong struggle against hatred and oppression in all its forms. In addition, I pledge to continue to educate myself until I die, listen and give credit vs. speak for others, take responsibility for my mistakes, celebrate vs. co-opt, engage vs. blame, and invite critique from those who've lived through oppression that I've (and my ancestors) have been greatly privileged to avoid).
