Fix the Potholes In Wealden
As a resident who has been trying to get the potholes repaired PROPERLY in a our street I was still suprised at how bad some of the main roads are. Whilst travelling through the district on Easter weekend pretty much every road had huge potholes. At some points is was a case of drive over them and fear damaging our vehicle or avoid them and risk a collision. Deterioration of UK roads over many years has lead to our roads becoming potholed tracks. This is a result of many factors, lack of investment, councils not investing the full amount given by government, increased traffic volumes and bad winters. I for one am fed up with the state of roads. Research suggests badly maintained roads cost the UK economy £4.1 billion a year, spending on the road network for maintenance and repairs is less than 10% of what road users pay in fuel tax and Road Fund Licence
Petition to Greg Clark MP
Ban the sale of illegal and defective part worn tyres in the UK
The National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA) is calling for a complete ban on the sale of part-worn tyres. Inspections carried out over several years into the sale of part-worn tyres show serious safety breaches. The current regulations are not working and we are seeing more and more illegal tyres being fitted to cars. That is why we are calling, in the absence of greater enforcement of the regulations or an effective form of industry self-regulation, for a complete ban on part-worn tyres. Unless drastic action is taken now we may see the casualty and death toll rise as a result of illegal and defective tyres.
