Petition to Strategic Acquistions Inc, Peter Baer, Tony Hershman

DO NOT ALLOW STRATEGIC ACQUISITIONS INC TO DESTROY THE RON FINLEY PROJECT’S GANGSTA GARDEN

Help #savethegangstagarden and The Ron Finley Project's HQ that ignited a worldwide food justice revolution by signing the petition and generously giving what you can.All Ron Finley wanted was healthy food for himself, his family and neighbors. After picking up a tomato that was labeled “coated with shellac” in his local South Central Los Angeles grocery store, it hit Finley: there was a complete lack of healthy food in his community. This is true for not only Finley’s community, but most underserved populations nationwide. More than 29 million Americans live in food deserts or what Finley has termed “food prisons”.“the drive-thrus are killing more people than the drive-bys”In 2010, Finley decided to take his health and the health of his community into his own hands and “Plant Some Shit”, turning a strip of city-owned land in front of his property into a food oasis. After a citation, fine and eventual warrant for Finley’s arrest over the grass that he transformed into an edible landscape for his community, word spread quickly about the “Gangsta Gardener”, sparking a global food justice movement. Luminaries such as René Redzepi, Russell Brand, Alice Waters, Rainn Wilson, Penny Marshall, Aloe Blacc, Carson Daley, Rachel Hunter and Robert Horry reached out to Finley in solidarity of his work, followed by statewide dignitaries, namely Mayors Aja Brown, Kevin Johnson and Councilman Herb Wesson. Soon after, the Gangsta Garden began to be visited and studied by local K-12 classrooms and universities all over the world including renown institutions such as Harvard, the University of Southern California and MIT.“Kids who grow kale, eat kale. If they grow tomatoes, they eat tomatoes. But when none of this is presented to them, they blindly eat whatever you put in front of them.”Over the last few years, the owner of the RFP property has been battling with the bank and has made several attempts to receive a loan modification to no avail. The bank recently foreclosed on the property and sold it to Strategic Acquisitions Inc. RFP has requested that Strategic Acquisitions allow them to continue operating from the location as to sustain with the important work they are doing in the community. The only solution they have been offered is to purchase the property, otherwise, face eviction. HQ has grown into more than just a garden since 2010, including RFP offices, an educational center and a propagation station for more edible urban landscapes. The loss of this property is a continuation of the injustices perpetrated against the members of the South Central Los Angeles community and persons struggling with food insecurity around the world. Finley took on city lawmakers in 2010 sparking a worldwide food justice revolution. Now the world needs to rally behind him!RFP needs to raise $500,000 to #savethegangstagarden that has become a symbol of healthy change for Los Angeles and cities all over. If you have been touched by RFP or support access to healthy food for ALL communities, please sign the petition, donate on our crowdfunding site, share and comment on how the The Ron Finley Project has inspired you.

Petition to President of South Korea

President of South Korea: Please stop the torture and consumption of dogs and cats

This petition will be hand delivered to the new president of South Korea in October 2017.  Our goal is 200K signatures. Please sign and share for the Korean dogs and cats.  Thank you! Dear President of South Korea, Please watch these videos: Shocking Cruelty of South Korean Dog Meat Industry http://youtu.be/3uR8R8Mu70Q Documentary trailer: Man bites dog in South Korea https://youtu.be/9SKVdNrfIZo I am extremely upset about the torture and consumption of companion animals in South Korea.  With the ubiquity of social medias, every day we are seeing shocking and heartbreaking images and videos of innocent dogs being tortured and killed in your country. Even though Korea has established an Animal Protection Law for companion animals, dogs are still beaten, hung, electrocuted, and treated brutally by farmers and slaughters. Also, dogs and cats are still being beaten and boiled alive for so-called elixirs, which do not have medical properties except in the minds of ignorant and gullible customers. These practices have no place in the modern world. Other Asian countries have banned the eating of dog meat and the cruel industry that goes with it, such as Taiwan and the Philippines. Why does Korea persist in lagging behind these countries and other civilized societies? It’s the responsibility of the Korean government to once and for all end the cruel dog meat and cat medicine industries in Korea. It is time to dismiss the childish myths and propaganda surrounding these industries and their vile products. It is time to leave behind backward and unnecessary traditions. And it is time for Korea to start taking animal welfare seriously and show that it really does have a compassionate and ethical society. That means it is time for the Korean government to start better educating the public about the importance of spaying and neutering, about not abandoning pets, and about treating animals in a proper manner. Until these things are done, Korea’s reputation in the international community will continue to suffer. Its citizens will continue to face shame and embarrassment. And Korea will continue to be regarded as “third world,” despite its modernization and attempts at globalized thinking. With the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympic Games being hosted in Pyeongchang, I would ask that you do all in your power to stop this barbarism and cruelty as the world’s attention will be on South Korea both before and during the events. From now on, I will boycott Korean products, and I will not support Korean companies or visit Korea until the abuse of cats and dogs has finally ended. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For the translation of this petition in Spanish, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Hungarian, visit: http://koreandogs.org/what-you-can-do/contacts-for-protest/sample-protest-letter/

Petition to Ken Friday, Planner, Yamhill County Commissioners

Protect Our Agritourism Rights! Help us bring in local chefs & feature local farm produce!

In late 2016 Wolves & People Farmhouse Brewery, located on a working 20-acre hazelnut farm just East of Newberg, OR, applied for and won agritourism rights in keeping with the statewide mission for supporting small farms by allowing commercial uses that support that farm and other farms. Agritourism is a great way for the interested public to learn more about farms and farm products by experiencing them in person. At our family-owned farm brewery we use our own well water, many fruits grown on the farm itself (filberts a.k.a. hazelnuts, figs, plums, blackberries, hops, etc.) and we also grow delicious, healthy wild yeast from many sources on the farm. What's more, we also get other fruits and ingredients from a variety of local farmers, from barley malt to cherries to hops, rhubarb, kiwi, and peaches, just for starters. Since our founding in 2014 and opening day in May, 2016, we have earned a devoted local following and reputation for quality beers and a warm, inviting, open setting. Our goal is to support our own farmhouse brewery and other local farms by bringing in chefs and food carts from the area who can also make use of use this delicious local bounty, creating foods for tasting with our beers. Under our permit we were granted a maximum of 18 events per year (72 hours tops each, a.k.a. a weekend) with sensible limits on attendance numbers and adherence to other conditions such as traffic control and noise (i.e. only one event with amplified music will be allowed per year). As a family-friendly and tranquil neighborhood establishment we were proud and excited to launch this program in the late summer and fall. Now our permit is under appeal from individuals in our neighborhood who have not experienced the brewery, and so we ask for your signature and address to signal your support of agritourism events at Springbrook Hazelnut Farm, where Wolves & People is located. We will never sell your address. We would love to add you to our mailing list if you are not already on it. Thank you! Your name and address will be provided to the Yamhill County Land Use & Planning Board, and Yamhill County Commissioners, who are hearing the appeal. For any additional questions of background information, please feel free to contact us directly. Thank you for supporting small farms and farmhouse breweries wherever you can!  This petition and signature collection will be completed and submitted no later than 5PM PST on Thursday, January 26th, 2017. Thank you for signing and sharing it with like-minded citizens. Christian DeBenedetti, Founder & Brewer
