Lower the price of brand-name Lexapro
Lexapro works well for me. Its generic equivalent does not. This is unfortunate, as the generic costs a small fraction of the brand-name drug. I can understand Allergan wanting to make a profit. But Lexapro has earned billions of dollars. In my prescription plan, a 90-day supply of generic escitalopram costs $12. A 90-day supply of Lexapro? $926.59. Can't Allergan make a profit without charging dozens of times the cost of the generic? A quick Google shows there are many in my boat. Thank you, Forest Laboratories (which was acquired by Actavis, now Allergan) for making an effective antidepressant. But shouldn't it be made affordable for those who aren't independently wealthy?
