CM: Implement the Personal Safety Education Program in all Government schools in Meghalaya

"Come sit on my lap" said her uncle. But she was uncomfortable. Years passed by with memories deeply suppressed until one day the adult realised that what had happened to her as a child was sexual abuse. This is just one such case. Please sign my petition to save our children.  Children quietly suffer and never talk about what they have gone through.  When the children share, no one believes them!  Let’s start with one state at a time. I am from Meghalaya.Child Sexual abuse is on the rise in my state! The State witnessed a large number of crimes against children in the year 2018 with 238 cases registered under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act 2012 and IPC sections 376, 354 and 509. These are just numbers of reported cases while there are many that go unreported.  Our children are suffering silently. It is the duty of every person and authority in Meghalaya to ensure this doesn’t continue.  We need to prevent it from happening. The child spends most of their waking hours in schools. Schools seem like the best place to start conversations. I would like to appeal to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Mr Conrad Sangma to take action immediately. Sign my petition asking to Implement the Personal Safety Education Program in all government schools in Meghalaya. Sexual abuse in childhood can leave scars that can last a very long time.Disbelief, denial and cover-up to preserve family reputation has made child sexual abuse an invisible crime in India.  It is time we start talking and addressing this issue. LET's BREAK THE SILENCE.  Join hands to change the current situation to protect our children, our future generations. Please sign my petition and urge the Government of Meghalaya to implement the personal safety education program in all Government schools in Meghalaya.

Petition to Shri Dharmendra Pradhan

Mandatory inclusion of Mental Health education in the curriculum of all schools in India

India has more than 50% of its population below the age of 25 and the largest population of adolescents in the world. Issues such as growing aggression and violence, gender issues, anxiety disorders , major depressive disorders peer pressure, substance abuse, social exclusion, bullying etc. are increasing at an alarming rate which declares a state of urgency to act.  According to a WHO study in 2015, 56,675,969 people suffer from depression in India, which is about 4.5% of India's population. Another study shows, 65% youth between the age group of 22-25 show early signs of depression and yet another WHO study tells us 1 in 4 children in the age group of 13-15 years in India suffer from depression. India has the highest suicide rate in the world for the 15-29 age group , depression being a major cause. These findings reinforce the need to increase awareness of the importance of mental well-being. A comprehensive curriculum will equip the youth to use the information to promote and maintain good mental health. It will help in sensitizing them about mental health issues and eliminating stigma that surrounds it.  Awareness of mental health issues will also help them to recognize the need of professional intervention, if needed.  From the statistical point of view, the Indian student population today is the largest in the world at around 315 million, of which around 120 million students are in the age group of 18-22 years. However, our education system lacks in providing social and emotional learning and strategies that promote positive mental health. Hence, we all need to take an initiative  Students, parents and employers all benefit from good education. But they lack the voice to press for change. However, it’s high time we take an initiative and be a force of positive change. Please sign this petition so that we can get our voices heard.  If we are able to gather a considerable number of signatures, it will show a potential commitment to the decision makers involved, who in our case, is the HRD Ministry, Ministers of State for school education and higher education. It will bring to their notice the need for a change in the existing education system.  Signing a petition on change.org is very simple. If you are using your phone to sign the petition, then please click on the red “Sign This Petition” button at the bottom of your screen. Then enter your first name, last name and email id. I have filled an RTI application on 18 apr 2019 followed by RTI first appeal 19 june 2019 to submit my salary slips for 13 years for me to calculate the gratuity and provident fund contribution of the employer as it is a very low contribution from the employer which is reflected on my PF passbook. I would like to inform you pointwise about Akshayah Global School 1. I have got to know that none of the teaching faculty have any degree in the field of Education. For example in any Chennai school teaching faculty should have a B.Ed degree which is mandatory.(Bachelor of Education). 2. They charge exuberant amount as fee but parents, students are treated badly if there is a delay in the payment due to any genuine reason. 3.Food provided by the management is pathetic, substandard. 4.They had promised to start angling, fishing, archery, golf for students in the last academic year still its in the message not in reality. 5.They terminate teachers at their own whimsfancy. Assistant teacher is later made to handle the subject who has poor communication skills. 6. They do not have Principal/Headmistress in matriculation school but they make Principal of global school to handle matriculation school work. 7. RTE Right to Education 25 percent free seats for educating the poor children is denied by the management in both matriculation, global school as well. 8. The school office have deducted ESIC amount from employees but they have not deposited the money in ESIC office. No ESIC card given to the employees for their medical help in ESIC hospitals.  Kindly take appropriate action against such unrecognized school.
