Penalise Schools that Fail to Safeguard Their Students
In January, a 6-year-old boy was found dead at Ryan International School, Delhi. 5 people, including school employees, were arrested and then released on bail the same day. Attacks against children in schools happen regularly across India. There is outrage and shock immediately after the incident, and then things return to normal. Sign my petition asking CBSE to penalise schools where children have been attacked, raped or killed because of a lapse in security measures. Many schools make parents sign waiver forms that declare that the school cannot be held responsible for the child’s safety and well being. Even if a student is raped or killed within school premises, the school will not be answerable. Sign my petition to make schools take responsibility for our children. We have to stop this. If all parents in our country speak up, we can get a response from CBSE, the board with the maximum number of schools across India. After that, the other boards might also act. Sign and share my petition. Do it for our children. Do it for our country’s future. ------ We are changing our ask from "Derecognising schools" to "Penalising Schools" after a lot of feedback from Parents and Teachers. We don't want parents and students to suffer because their school has lost recognition. We want schools to be worried about heavy penalties and implement standard protection for all their students. This should cover: 1. Stringent Background checks for all teachers and staff.2. Security to ensure authorised and monitored entry/exit of students/strangers/parents.3. CCTV coverage to gather evidence of any wrongdoing.4.Surprise audits of schools for safety measures.Schools to obtain a yearly certificate for safety measures.5.Incase of any security failure the offenders to be punished, institutional head and certifying authority to be heavily penalised, These are only some high-level ideas, but we can discuss more once CBSE responds. We want to the board to ensure that all schools recognised by CBSE comply with these standards or are hit by stiff penalties, especially when children in these schools are hurt or attacked.

Mandatory inclusion of Mental Health education in the curriculum of all schools in India
India has more than 50% of its population below the age of 25 and the largest population of adolescents in the world. Issues such as growing aggression and violence, gender issues, anxiety disorders , major depressive disorders peer pressure, substance abuse, social exclusion, bullying etc. are increasing at an alarming rate which declares a state of urgency to act. According to a WHO study in 2015, 56,675,969 people suffer from depression in India, which is about 4.5% of India's population. Another study shows, 65% youth between the age group of 22-25 show early signs of depression and yet another WHO study tells us 1 in 4 children in the age group of 13-15 years in India suffer from depression. India has the highest suicide rate in the world for the 15-29 age group , depression being a major cause. These findings reinforce the need to increase awareness of the importance of mental well-being. A comprehensive curriculum will equip the youth to use the information to promote and maintain good mental health. It will help in sensitizing them about mental health issues and eliminating stigma that surrounds it. Awareness of mental health issues will also help them to recognize the need of professional intervention, if needed. From the statistical point of view, the Indian student population today is the largest in the world at around 315 million, of which around 120 million students are in the age group of 18-22 years. However, our education system lacks in providing social and emotional learning and strategies that promote positive mental health. Hence, we all need to take an initiative Students, parents and employers all benefit from good education. But they lack the voice to press for change. However, it’s high time we take an initiative and be a force of positive change. Please sign this petition so that we can get our voices heard. If we are able to gather a considerable number of signatures, it will show a potential commitment to the decision makers involved, who in our case, is the HRD Ministry, Ministers of State for school education and higher education. शिक्षा जरूरी या फीस??
Education has turned into a business. Private schools are increasing their fees every year. Run by the education mafia, schools are looting, harassing and even threatening helpless parents. And no one is stopping them. Come with me and hold these schools accountable. Sign this petition Caught between inefficient government schools and expensive private schools, it's the middle class that is suffering. Forced to pay for an education which does not even guarantee our child's safety. So where is all this money going? Friends, it's high time the HRD ministry steps in and stops this loot. A central legislation regulating fee hikes is the need of the hour. Schools should be stopped from indulging in such profiteering. Fee hike affects each one of us. If we all unite and take a stand against it the government will be forced to listen to us. Demand a central law to regulate fee hikes in private schools across India. Thanks for your support. *Piyush Mishra*

Stop exorbitant School Fee hike in the name of 7th pay commission
Join this campaign against exorbitant Fee Hike by Private schools. Loot in the name of 7th pay commission. In the name of 7th pay commission, The parents have to pay arrears since January 2016 amounting to at least 25000 per child. It's an irony to see the exorbitant money collected from parents often take the shape of business establishments, instead of being used to better off the Teacher’s Salary. Each and every school is charging exorbitantly high fees and manipulate so much in books and stationery, uniform, transportation to make money from the helpless parents. Schools can hire top lawyers, so we parents have no other options but unite against the practice of buying judgments. Speak out against the nexus of Government officials and school management. Government officials are failed / or not willing to implement their own orders. The apathy of Political parties, as Parents are not a vote bank of any party. Every successive Govt’s callousness and deafness in controlling such mafia raj for education have failed miserably. Parents, Please join the campaign and make it louder and louder so that it reaches right to the top. Raise your voice and stop it now, else you will not be able to afford education in the next 2-3 years. To remove Mr. K. M. George, Principal of The AG Church School, Haldia
A SENIOR TEACHER IS BEING REPEATEDLY HARASSED FOR MONTHS BY THE PRINCIPAL OF THE SCHOOL.You are all aware that my mother Mrs. Aparna Jena, someone very dear to me, has been a teacher in AGC Haldia for 20 years since 1999, and has been a very sincere teacher throughout. I’m sure you all can verify that fact. Even though she doesn’t have to, she shoulders the responsibility of choreographing cultural programs of the school. She does this not to showcase her talent, but to uphold her commitment to the school.I am infuriated and disgusted by the fact that the Principal of the school- Mr. K. M. George has been harassing her on a regular basis for the last few months, by publicly slandering her, humiliating her, and speaking against her in an undignified manner, in front of teachers and school students alike. He has repeatedly insulted my mother for things like talking to a colleague during lunch breaks or free periods, wearing salwars, sarees, hairstyle. This extreme misbehavior and mental torture on a regular basis are becoming unbearable for her. I often find her crying after school. She has also become unwell as a result.Today, on 14th June 2019, K. M. George did not allow her to return home after school, and kept her captive for 40 minutes. He abused her, used extremely filthy language on her. Language that would demean the modesty of a woman. Language that is horrifyingly disgusting, words that no sane man would ever say with his own mouth. I feel bile rising to my mouth, when I even think about those words. To everyone who is a teacher or in the administration of a teaching institute, you tell me- is this behavior acceptable? Do your superiors force you to tie up your hair the way they want? Do they slander and abuse you because you don’t adhere to a non-existent dress-code? Are you humiliated repeatedly for talking to your colleagues during lunch breaks or free periods? Would you accept an outsider torturing you this extremely, for months? I feel immense disgust at the fact that I once used to respect this man. No. This is not a man. This…thing, does not qualify to be called a human. To bring this to an end, I request everyone reading this to kindly SHARE THIS POST. Make this VIRAL. LET PEOPLE KNOW what’s going on. PLEASE. Sign this petition.~ Swapnil Jena
Petition to Department of Education, Deputy Director Of Public Instruction , HRD Ministry, DDPI
Concerning Mandate on Kannada in Grade X
We respect the state of karnataka, for opening its doors to many students and professionals from, across the country and globe. I also appreciate the department of education for introducing kannada as a language, into the regular school curriculum. However, this is related to the recent ruling from DDPI on making Kannada a mandatory subject for students of all schools (CBSE; ICSE etc.) from the 2018-19 academic year till 10th grade. There are a lot of professionals and others who have moved from other states to Karnataka for work or education. While the department is absolutely right in promoting Kannada, this petition is to make an appeal to focus on Kannada as a functional language. Per current ruling, Kannada is to be taught at par with 2nd language and the emphasis and intensity would continue till Grade X. In an already competitive scenario, this is putting additional pressure on the children. For many of us Kannada is an unknown language and I am happy that my children would learn to speak a language that we cannot. But beyond that it is impossible for us to help our children academically. The purpose of this petition is to make an appeal to the concerned authorities to alleviate the pressure on children by changing the focus on kannada to be a functional /spoken language without imposing the academic demands in Grade X. Parents and authorities are well aware of the pressure on the children and we all need to do our utmost to alleviate this pressure. We are also aware of children going into depression, due to high competition and pear pressure. This will only add to the challenges in current scenario. We request : Either not have to an academic pressure linked to it. The marks of the subject , should not be considered , to reduce the pressure. Or Keep it till grade 9 and not bring it in grade X. We look forward to an amicable solution, where the learning of the language becomes the focus for the children , rather an academic enforcement and the associated pressure.
