Petition to Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory
Berklee system that changes trans students deadname to their chosen name in every database
Hello! My name is Neil Klein, I am a third semester Composition Major at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. I am excited to continue studying at my dream school, but I also have a document that lists 14 anti-trans events that have taken place to me and my peers on campus within the last two semesters. Did that sentence surprise you? Did it maybe seem unorganized, unexpected, and jarring? Good. Because earlier this week when my deadname was announced loudly in the caf by a Berklee staff member, it was jarring, unexpected, and left me to think that some of Berklee’s systems are unorganized. But this is not news. Not to me, and not to my trans and nonbinary peers. For months, I have been deadnamed, misgendered, and mistreated. My friends have been deadnamed, misgendered, and mistreated. We are proactive -- we have to be. We send emails imploring this treatment to be ended. But in my personal experience, every email I’ve gotten back, and every meeting I have had has left me with no answers as to why this keeps happening to me and my community. There is a form on Berklee’s website that I am often told to fill out. It supposedly submits a request to change one’s legal name to their chosen name. It does not work. It does not work. There needs to be something that works. Legally changing one’s name is hard, and often expensive. No one should have to go through this process just to be respected and seen. I feel ignored and discarded. So, I am publicly asking Berklee College of Music to create a system that changes a trans/nonbinary student’s deadname to their chosen name in every database. I am asking this to be a priority. Show to everyone that the trans community at Berklee is important. Show us that we're valued. Use a system that works, that changes our names, displays our pronouns, and puts to rest the abhorrent treatment that trans and nonbinary students have had to endure. Thank you.

Demand Google Stop Peddling Dangerous ‘Pray Away the Gay’ App Targeting LGBT Youth
Why is Google’s online store still offering an “ex-gay” app that targets LGBT youth for the dangerous and ineffective practice of conversion therapy? Tell Google to immediately remove this hate app that marginalizes and stigmatizes LGBT people. By any standard, the app is awful. It brazenly compares homosexuality to an addiction. It casually trashes LGBT people as living “destructive lifestyles.” Living Hope, the creator of the app, repeatedly belittles transgender people as suffering from “gender confusion.” The group refers to gay men as “sexually broken guys” who can “walk out of false identities” and claims, without evidence, that the “gay lifestyle” is “spiritually and physically harmful.” When Truth Wins Out previously brought the hate app to the attention of Apple, Microsoft and Amazon, the companies acted with responsibility and swiftly removed it from their online stores. The surprising silence from Google is in stark contrast with the corporation’s stated policies of inclusion, respect and diversity. So why hasn’t the company taken action? “Ex-gay” programs are a sham. They don’t work, they destroy lives and they are condemned by every respectable medical and mental health organization in the world. The American Psychiatric Association says that sexual orientation change efforts (SOCE) can lead to “anxiety, depression, and self-destructive behavior”, including suicide. So, why is Google offering a platform for such a mean-spirited and dangerous product? Please sign our petition to demand that Google stop procrastinating and immediately remove Living Hope’s hateful app that deliberately singles out LGBT people for bigotry and ridicule. Every moment that this app remains at Google’s online store, vulnerable LGBT teenagers can download it, so time is of the essence.

PROTECT EVERY AND ALL LGBTQIA CITIZENS UNDER THE HATE-CRIME LAWS IN PENNSYLVANIA
THIS EFFORT IS IN HONOR OF Keisha Jenkins TO READ HER STORY CLICK HERE __________________________________ Hello. My name is John Mateer. Six years ago I was visiting my friend at her school, Penn State University, when something happened that ended up changing the course of my life entirely. When standing alone outside of a fraternity party that my friend had brought me to, I overheard an argument as the brothers were ejecting (whom I thought at the time to be) another fraternity brother. The overwhelming and repetitive use of the homophobic term—‘f****t’— led to my brief interjection in an attempt to get them to stop yelling it, and I explained to them that I myself am gay and it’s harsh to hear it used over and over and over like that so viciously. I was then asked to leave as well. I had no problem with this, and began to leave the property when I felt and heard as the other guy ejected was following uncomfortably close behind me. When I turned to question him on it he blatantly told me he hates gay people and began assaulting me— eventually leaving me bloody and unconscious in the street. My assailant—proven guilty— was not charged with a hate crime, even though his only motive was proven to be hate towards gay people. It was not considered a hate crime because LGBTQIA citizens are not protected under hate crime laws in the state of Pennsylvania. Six years later, this remains true. This petition seeks to change this. We deserve better. PA officials who you should reach out to and demand protection from (click their name to go to contact form): !! BRYAN CUTLER !! Protect NYC's queer beach
On the far eastern end of Jacob Riis Beach in NYC, there is a famous LGBTQIA+ community beach and landmark, sheltered by the former Neponsit Beach Hospital. Generations of queer beachgoers, including black, brown, and working class queers from across New York City have flocked to this corner of Riis since at least the 1940s. The stretch of beach is an affirming, body-positive, safe and magical place for queer, trans, black and brown folks, for whom there are very few public outdoor places where we are relatively safe to be ourselves. Our corner of the beach is under threat. It is confirmed that NYC Health & Hospitals plans to demolish the structures (the former Neponsit Beach Hospital) behind the queer section of Riis, likely by late 2022. The buildings slated to be demolished function as a vital privacy barrier, offering physical protection that allows the beach to remain safe for our community. The removal of these structures will leave Riis exposed, and will effectively open the door for our community of beachgoers to be harassed. We, the LGBTQIA+ community, are organizing to have a say in the timeline for demolition and in what subsequently happens to the vacant space, owned by the NYC Parks Department. The City has not involved our community in initial discussions, or demonstrated an intent to center the queer history of this important site. That the initial planning process for the demolition of buildings at a queer beach has not included queer community echoes the process for the Christopher Street Pier, which disregarded the black and brown, queer and trans community. We are determined to ensure that history does not repeat itself, and are organizing to protect our community from displacement. We want to find ways to preserve our beach as a queer space, and to propose new solutions for what happens to the land the buildings are currently on. We need you to accomplish this! Let’s decide together how to best serve our community. Please sign now, get the word out, and join in our next steps to protect queer Riis Beach! photo credit: Chris Bernsten

SAVE 2200 TREES FROM BEING CHOPPED FOR A ROAD WIDENIG PROJECT IN SAHASTRADHARA RD DEHRADUN
Respected Sir, Save 2200 trees to be felled from jogi wala to Pacific golf estate in sahastradhara Road, Dehradun The very basic ecology, structure of Dehradun is on the verge of extinction. Sahastra means 1000, dhara means springs, 1000 springs. Imagine a city having 1000 springs in just one area. Today only few springs are visible while Others have been dried up or been buried under construction. The centre has approved this project of felling 2200 trees for a 4 lane road and sanctioned 77 crores for this. Soon Tenders will be floating for the construction. According to the authorities tourists will have easier access to Mussorie after this road is made and further this will decongest Dehradun. Why we locals oppose this project - .1)With increasing population, number of tourists will gradually increase every day. What will the administration do then? Will they plan to chop every single tree, forest from Uttarakhand? Dehradun has lost 70% of its forest cover since its been a capital. Due to which we are facing aggressive climatic changes like Frequent landslides, floods, cloudbursts, less winters, extreme heat waves which are directly affecting our agricultural fields as well, our ground water and springs. 2)Sahastradhara a place visited by locals and tourists only for its tree cover on either side of the road will loose its beauty as well as tourist flux who only visit this area for shady cool breeze of Peepal, mango, litchi etc. If they are chopped. Eateries too will shut down that have been there since many years. 4) Recently we witnessed flood in just 1 or 2 hours of Rainfall in IT park situated in Sahastradhara Road.People were stuck for hours.their vehicles drowned in tge water. This deforestation will only make things worse. People are scared to come out during rains. 5) Trees absorb carbon dioxide and potentially harmful gasses, such as sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, from the air and release oxygen. 5) Oxygen Provider. One day's worth of oxygen for a family of four is provided by a single tree. 6)Trees improve water quality by slowing rain as it falls to the Earth, and helping it soak into the soil. Trees then serve as natural We are witnessing climate change. This is the time where we should preserve conserve trees, Forests, Rivers, Mountains, lakes and make strategies or development projects having sustainable eco friendy approach. Otherwise we can already see the damage that is happening in our Uttarakhand mountains every day with massive landslides, recurrent earthquakes and flooding. Please we urge the authorities to stop this project and find alternatives. Dr Aanchal Sharma The Earth and climate Initiative
Petition to EDMC Commisioner, RWA Mayur Vihar Phase 1 Pocket 4, Mayur Residents Welfare Associaton Pocket 4, Police Commissioner, Divisional Magistrate, M/s TowerVision India Private Ltd, National Green Tribunal, EDMC Horticulture, Department of Telecommunication, Mr. Manish Sisodia
To stop the installation of Mobile Tower from residential area
Mobile Telecom Tower installation is going on in Residential Zone of DDA Flats, Pocket-4 Mayur Vihar Ph-1, New Delhi 110091. It’s a Park with Kids play area Near Flat No 143 & 157 and Sadbhavana Apartment Gate which is a residential complex of DDA Flats surrounded with more than 5000 residents including Kids & Senior citizen. Installation of mobile tower is not as per the norms of DoT. This can be verified with the distance of tower from the backyard of flat no 143A Pocket 4 MV 1 01. This Telecom Tower may create radiation which is very harmful for humans especially for kids and senior citizen. 02. Its being erected in Park Kids Play area where any kid may also get electrocuted with its electrical equipments. 03. There are 3 Schools within 100 Meter radius including Higher Secondary schools 04. Most of the society residents are not agree in the erection of this tower. 05. There is sufficient commercial compound such as Market or Metro Station available outside this DDA Flats complex where these telecom towers may be placed. According to Hindustan Times, "The World Health Organisation's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) says radiation from cellphone handsets and towers is "possibly carcinogenic to humans" and may cause glioma, a type of brain cancer. Towers are more dangerous than handsets because they emit greater-intensity radiation 24X7" Hence requesting you to please do needful to stop this Tower Erecting work immediately. When DDA allotted us flats – they were allotted with a “Right to live”. We were sold flats with assurance that our parks will remain as parks and will not be used for any commercial purpose. By allowing the commercial use of our parks DDA is breaching the contract which it made with us when it sold these flats to us. Children playing in DDA parks and families living here have right to live and not die of deadly diseases. To think of installing a mobile tower would be a blatant infringement of public space. This park is in a residential hub with children of all age groups playing in it every day. We as residents are shocked as DDA even thinking of permitting installation of Mobile Towers in a public park and thus denying the children their basic right to play and it’s a clear case of violation of their Basic Human Rights. Infringement of Public Place – DDA Parks are meant for use by residents and not to be taken over by the staff of M/s to either stay in the park or visit frequently for maintenance which will lead to security problem in the colony. Clearance By National Green Tribunal - As per the ruling of National Green Tribunal parks are meant for use by residents and to keep the environment clean and safe. Allotment of DDA Children’s Park land to M/s TowerVision India Private Ltd is a commercial activity and a big health hazard. As residents, we are within our rights to demand that any infrastructural requirements be balanced against health hazards and environmental concerns and in this case the risks are of far greater magnitude than the demands of infrastructural development. Any change in DDA parks should be aimed at enhancement of quality of life of residents. We will never permit crony capitalism of mobile tower companies to spread cancer in our colony. Mobile towers have become major causes of cancer; which is caused by the radiation spread by them. Mobile Tower Radiations are causing Cancer. A number of reports have indicated that radiations being emitted from mobile Towers are causing Cancer of all types including Brain Cancer. We do not want their children and families to die of this deadly disease which will drain them financially, mentally and psychologically. Residents cannot be living under constant fear of Radiations being emitted by Mobile Tower. Noise Pollution – Mobile Towers in DDA Park will have generator and other infrastructure at the base of tower. Running of generator will cause noise pollution for the residents staying very close to mobile towers. We the residents wish to lodge a vehement and unanimous protest against the proposed installation of mobile tower in DDA Park of Pocket 4 near Sadbhavana gate. In view of the above it is submitted that installation of mobile tower in inside residential area of Pocket 4 is big health hazard and a grossly commercial endeavour which should be stopped immediately.

Treat 100% Sewage of Pune city on war-footing to avoid public health emergency
Recent findings of research done about microbes found in Mula-Mutha rivers are shockingly alarming and need immediate action on war-footing by PMC. According to this research, the diseases caused by microbes found in Mula-Mutha rivers will be untreatable as these microbes do not respond to even the strongest of antibiotics available. This is a serious health hazard for all the citizens of Pune city and has to be dealt with on top priority. Major cause of this is untreated sewage getting dumped directly in the rivers everyday for years together. It is a known fact that there is inadequate capacity of sewage treatment in the city (installed capacity is only @70%max). So there is urgent need to divert all resources to bridge this gap first instead of spending PMC budget on cosmetic beautification of the city. Also, the track record of performance of existing sewage treatment plants is extremely shady and has been pointed out time and again by various environmental experts and NGOs. Even basic essential facilities like power back up are not available in existing plants which makes plant ineffective in case of power outages. Because of this, the 'Life Nurturing' rivers of Pune have become 'Life Threatening' drainage. This has to stop immediately.The situation of public health has been steadily deteriorating over past few decades. If the situation is not controlled now it may wreck a havoc of epidemic of untreatable diseases. Following actions are needed to be initiated urgently - 1. Audit of existing STPs by independent agency 2. Taking measures to restore effectiveness of existing STPs based on observations /recommendations 3. Installing Real time continuous monitoring systems of water quality at outlet of STPs and making data public. 4.Formation of empowered committee to fast-track installation of new STPs to achieve 100% sewage treatment in committed and time-bound manner. http://punemirror.indiatimes.com/pune/cover-story/diseases-caused-by-mula-mutha-are-untreatable/articleshow/62449938.cms

Keep The Sea Plastic Free !!
"Happiness is a day at the beach." But, is it truly the case now? From the stink of untreated sewage to the obnoxious plastic fumes to the infectious possibilities of medical waste. We have seen it all. Beach cleaning campaigns have been done by many and will be done in the future as well. But the basic requirement to keep our beaches clean is not cleaning the litter, but by avoiding it. The seemingly best solution is to make the beaches and beach road a litter-free zone. What does it take? Strict administration and huge penalties for littering in these areas and then, each and every concerned citizen's right action count. Yes, we can !! People are making a difference. You too can make a difference.Next time when you want to go to the beach what would you like to see? Clean water or ocean of plastic...choose wisely.Join us as we strive to make our beaches better and beautiful.
