Petition to Donald Trump
Remember Pearl Harbor!
December 7th, 1941, a date which will live in infamy. These words were spoken by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, on December 8th, 1941 to Congress about the attack on Pearl Harbor. That day we lost 2,403 lives and injuring 1,178 others. The attack sank two U.S. Navy battleships and damaged five others. It also damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, and one minelayer. Aircraft losses were 188 destroyed and 159 damaged. This day is "Observed" as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day by the United States every year. Millions go to see the Memorial in Hawaii every year and the survivors of that fateful day return to remember the ones who paid the ultimate sacrifice that day. The survivors are getting fewer and fewer every year. The survivors and those who past are the one I would like to speak about in this petition. This year marks the 75th Anniversary of that day and we "observe" it yet again. However, this is not enough in my, and many others, opinion to honor those individuals who survived and those who did not. Many Federal Holidays are in place to remember certain individuals or traditions that make or made an influencing contribution to our society. I ask to you, did not December 7th,1941 make an impact for all time on our lives? I ask that you join me in asking that the U.S. Congress and the President of the United States of America declare that December 7th be recognized from here forward as a Federal Holiday to Remember Pearl Harbor and TRULY honor those who survived and those who died! It is a small thing that could mean SO much to those who sacrificed. Let us do this before the last of the Greatest Generation is no more. Please.
