URGENT! Fukushima Radioactive Fallout Food Safety Petition

THIS IS AN ACTIVE PETITION ~We are in the midst of an ongoing and seemingly incomprehensible radiation crisis at the Fukushima  Daiichi  nuclear power complex in Japan.  Some are saying "this is not Chernobyl" and for that matter it may turn out to be worse. Greenpeace released a report on March 25, 2011 which ranks the radiation leaking from Fukushima to date to be at Level 7 on the International Nuclear Event Scale (INES) which is the the highest level and the same as Chernobyl after that catastrophe. We must remember that this crisis is far from over and will have serious health effects for many innocent people, with young children and the elderly being particularly vulnerable. The National Academies of Science issued a 2006 report on radiation exposure that concluded that even low levels of radiation can cause human health problems, including cancer and heart disease. And 25 years after Chernobyl,  the United Kingdom still maintains restrictions on sheep production in parts of Wales because radioactive cesium continues to contaminate grazing lands.  Now we are learning that the water pumped in from the ocean to cool the Fukushima reactors is flowing back to sea mixed with deadly plutonium, endangering sea life too.  Until workers can find a way to somehow stop, contain and store it, dangerous levels of radioactivity will continue to spread to the ocean and the biosphere.  Particulates in the form of radioactiive iodine and other radioisotopes from Fukushima have traveled across the United States as far as Massachusetts.  Increased radiation is now being detected in cows milk in Washington, Vermont, and other states.  While we continue to send our prayers and support to the people of Japan, it is clearly time to understand that this is a global crisis which will affect many nations, including the United States. Citizens in India, China, France and other countries are being told to carefully handle or not to eat large leafy green vegetables and some dairy products. Here in the US, closer downwind on the jetstream from Japan, we are STILL not receiving honest, accurate and consistent information from our government agencies. The FDA has announced that there is no need to test north Pacific fish for radioactivity, and the EPA announced scaling back monitoring of water and milk to quarterly testing only.    First, we need to monitor all food and water imports from Japan, including the estimated annual 5 million gallons of bottled water, soft drinks and other non-alcoholic beverages containing water. Seafood shipments and other food products also are still being imported by the US.and they must be monitored immediately. Next,  the Environmental Protection Agency must significantly expand the monitoring of air particulates, rain water, drinking water, and milk and to make the findings readily transparent and immediately available to the public. Last, the United States Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration should receive adequate funding for expanded food and water inspection both here and overseas and to communicate those findings immediately to the public. Congress must rethink our agricultural policies as well as international trade policies as they effect imports from other countries also trading with Japan.

Rick Perry  refuses to do his job! I have offered to import russian  scientist and engineers  to deal with the nuclear  waste that has accumulated  on every reactor site for the last 57 years. They found a way to convert spent fuel to clean energy. Rick Perry  is responsible at hanFord for the 65 workers  exposed to plutonium particles plutonium named for the Greek god of the underworld because it is death to humans.  The flagship product of the energy solution as part of Rosatom's integrated proposal is the evolutionary reactor design of VVER-1200. It was developed based on the variants of the VVER-1000 reactor, which were built for foreign customers in the 1990s and 2000s: Bushehr NPP (Iran), Kundankulam NPP (India), Tianwan NPP (China). Each parameter of the reactor has tried to improve, as well as to introduce a number of additional security systems that reduce the probability of radiation release in any accident and their combinations beyond the sealed reactor compartment - the container. As a result, VVER-1200 is characterized by a 20% higher capacity with comparable equipment sizes for WWER-1000, a service life of 60 years, the ability to maneuver power in the interests of the power system, a high CIUM (90%), Scientific supervisor of the project - RRC "Kurchatov Institute" (Moscow); developer - OKB "Gidropress" (Podolsk), the main manufacturer - "Atommash" (Volgodonsk). The project provides burnout of fuel up to 70 MW • day / kgU. Seismic (SL-2) - ≤ 0.3 g. As options, it is possible to use a slow-moving turbine and a maneuvering unit (range 100-50-100). Quite a lot of rework touched the internal elements of the reactor (mine, septum, block of protective pipes, sensors, etc.), both to prevent various accidents, and to ensure a 60-year service life. In the long term, it is possible to use MOX fuel.The VVER technology uses a dual-circuit nuclear steam-producing body plant with a thermal neutron reactor, in which conventional water under pressure is the coolant and retarder. The design includes four cooling loops with a steam generator, a main circulation pump (MCP), a pressure compensator, a relief and emergency fitting on steam pipelines, and capacitances of the emergency core cooling system (SAOS) of the reactor. Thus, VVER-1200 combines the reliability of long-proven engineering solutions with a complex of active and passive safety systems, modified to take into account the "postfuskim" requirements.The technical solutions used in VVER-1200 - such as the pool of spent fuel storage inside the containment, the filters at the exit from the interclosure ventilated space, the unique "melt trap" with the sacrificial material, the passive heat dissipation system, which has no analogues - allow us to call it the reactor installation of the generation III +. The design solutions of the SAOZ system are interesting. This is a container with cold boric acid under pressure. In the event of a rupture of the hull or pipelines, they ensure the entry of boric acid into the reactor, muffling it and providing cooling. The use of this, as well as other systems in the complex guarantees a high level of internal safety of the reactor installation.The first power unit with the VVER-1200 reactor - the power unit No. 6 of Novovoronezh NPP-2 - was included in the Russian power system in August 2016. Generation III + power units are currently being built in the US, France and other countries, however, it was the sixth power unit of Novovoronezh NPP that became the first unit of the last generation in the world to reach the stage of physical start-up and pilot production. Another similar block is being built there. It is also planned to use VVER-1200 at the Leningrad NPP-2 under construction and at the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (near Ostrovets, Grodno Region). The general contractor for the construction of all these new power units is the ASE Group of Companies.The tasks that are put in the process of reactor operation are experimental demonstration of the key components of the closed fuel cycle, development in real operating conditions of new types of equipment and advanced technical solutions introduced to improve the efficiency, reliability and safety. As fuel in the BN-800 can be used as usual (with uranium oxide) and uranium-plutonium MOX fuel (a mixture of 235U and 239Pu). The use of uranium-plutonium fuel in this "fast" reactor allows not only to use the reserves of energy plutonium, but also to dispose of weapons-grade plutonium, as well as to burn long-lived isotopes of actinides from the irradiated fuel of thermal reactors. This gives hope for the formation in the future of an ecologically clean, closed nuclear fuel cycle.The commissioning of the BN-800 proved that Rosatom retained its competence in the field of practical experience in the construction and launch of fast reactors. The reliable operation of the unit is designed to contribute to ensuring the nuclear power industry of Russia with fuel for a long time due to the reproduction, utilization of spent nuclear fuel from thermal power plants and the utilization of radioactive waste by involving in the useful production cycle of dumped uranium and plutonium. In October 2016, the oldest American energy magazine POWER - one of the most influential and authoritative international professional publications in this field - evaluated these prospects and awarded the fourth power unit of Beloyarsk NPP with the Power Awards for 2016 in the category "Top Plants". It was observed, that this power unit is the most powerful breeder in the world (fast breeder reactor) on fast neutrons with a liquid metal sodium coolant. The nomination "Best Stations" identifies the most promising and innovative projects that indicate the vector of development of the entire industry. Thanks to the construction of the BN-800, as experts say, Russia currently ranks first in the world in the technology of building "fast" reactors.
