One Direction Reunion: The Comeback We Need!
One Direction or 1D is a pop boy band, situated in London, this band was originally composed of 5 members: Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik. The group started under Simon Cowell's (a judge on The X Factor) record name, But on 2015, Zayn left the group to start his own debut single, which sent all our hearts into spiral sadness and despair. In 2010, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson auditioned as solo candidates for the seventh series of the British televised singing competition The X Factor. They all failed to progress in the "Boys" category at the Bootcamp stage of the competition but were instead put together to form a five-piece boy band, thus qualifying for the "Groups" category. Nicole Scherzinger, a guest judge, and Simon Cowell have both claimed to have come up with the idea of forming the band. In 2013, Cowell said that it "took him 10 minutes to put them together as a group". Subsequently, the group got together for two weeks to get to know each other and to practice. Styles came up with the name One Direction. For their qualifying song at "judges' houses", and their first song as a group, One Direction sang an acoustic version of "Torn". Cowell later commented that their performance convinced him that they "were confident, fun, like a gang of friends, and kind of fearless as well. Within the first four weeks of the live shows, they were his last act in the competition The group quickly gained popularity in the UK. One Direction achieved third place in the competition and immediately after the final, their song "Forever Young", which would have been released if they had won The X Factor, was leaked onto the internet. Shortly afterwards it was confirmed that One Direction had been signed by Cowell to a reported £2 million Syco Records record contract. Recording for their debut album began in January 2011, as they flew to Los Angeles to work with RedOne, a record producer. A book licensed by One Direction, One Direction: Forever Young (Our Official X Factor Story), was published by HarperCollins in February 2011, subsequently topping The Sunday Times Best Seller list. The same month, the boy band and other contestants from the series participated in the X Factor Live Tour. During the tour, the group performed for 500,000 people throughout the UK. After the tour concluded in April 2011, the group continued working on their debut album. Recording took place in Stockholm, London and Los Angeles, as One Direction worked with producers Carl Falk, Savan Kotecha, Steve Mac, and Rami Yacoub, among Listening to their music and thinking that their group doesn't exist anymore, breaks my heart. Their journey and connection together made us felt joy; Personally, I always thought of their group as the best group to exist. And by signing this petition, hopefully, as we stand together, we can use our voice to bring them back. Their presence was enough for us, each member's presence was enough for us. --- If one member isn't there, we feel incomplete. So let us sign this petition and hope that they would get back to where they were, way back early 2000s, where they brought joy and happiness to everyone. And brought amazing music to everyone's playlist. BRING GOOD MUSIC BACK BRING THE LEGENDS BACK BRING ONE DIRECTION BACK Sources: Wikipedia (2019). Petition to Michael Collins, Songwriters Guild of America
BMI: Protect my membership & money!
Mr. Michael Collins: In light of potential changes to the consent decrees governing BMI and ASCAP, and: because these changes have the ability to impact my membership in BMI and my ability to be paid, fully and transparently, for my work; and because these concerns weren't raised in your comments to the Department of Justice, I'm writing to give the following notice: I want to protect my membership with BMI. I do NOT wish to be withdrawn from my PRO protection without my prior, written consent. Please also note that while I am in favor of negotiating better prices for my music, I expect to have shared with me all details of publisher-negotiated deals; and Further, I hope that BMI will actively seek to be part of a transparent system that ensures I am made aware of, and paid for, all uses of my work -- especially uses negotiated by publishers. Thank you!
