Return Lisa Ng's painting, Rocks and Stones back to her art exhibit!
On Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 11:30, I was informed a complaint had been filed against one of my paintings, Rocks and Stones, previously hanging at the Cliffcrest Library art exhibit. The painting was deemed inapprorpriate for school class visits, programmes, seniors and families. This is upsetting to me as an artist, to my collectors, and to the fans of this painting, both young and old. In my defence, the sexual content in question merely depicts some harmless wood. I mean it's a rock, to the wrong kind of imagination sure, it might resemble a penis. Regardless, I think art should generate uncomfortable discussion. So often in my line of work (both in art and nursing) I encounter folks, of all ages, who are just itching to ask questions about sex, but are unable to phrase the question. Art is a good place to start, and at the public library too.
