Petition to Justin Trudeau

We Want an Indigenous-led Government of Canada

With Canada's upcoming election, it is a time to reflect on the past and present injustices done to Canada’s Indigenous people. The legacy of colonialism is lived to this day by Indigenous mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers that have survived all the genocide of the past, and which continues on today. While we must extend a hand of love and understanding, we must also be aware of the role that we play in supporting modern colonialism. The responsibility is on all of us to set things right. Whoever the elected candidate, we call on them to right their wrongs of the colonial government and begin the process of transferring stewardship of Canada back to Indigenous people. The process isn’t as difficult as it may seem, especially for those that are committed to truth and reconciliation. The truth is that the colonial government has no right over stolen land. The only true reconciliation is to give back the land and political control to the Indigenous people, who own this land by right and by birth. We call on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to start the process of setting things right, and ask Minister Marc Miller and Minister Carolyn Bennett to offer their support. Whoever the elected Prime Minister may be, we will also be holding you accountable to doing much more than the previous administration. Petition to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Justin Trudeau

Children of the Canadian Residential School System Memorial

If you visit Germany today you will find in Munich, Berlin, Nuremberg etc. memorials and educational museums that acknowledges the Holocaust and it’s victims. In Berlin there is a Memorial and Information Centre where the victims’ names are read aloud. With the discovery of the 215 children’s remains at the site of the Kamloops Residential School and further discoveries of unmarked graves at Cowessess, Saskatchewan and Cranbrook BC,  it is clear that more needs to be done to acknowledge and pay respect to the children that were ripped from their homes and sent to Residential Schools where they were brutally treated, starved, sexually and physically assaulted leaving many broken or dead and affecting generations to follow. I am urging you to pressure the Canadian Government to build a Memorial on which, if possible,  every name of every child taken from their homes and sent to Residential School be recorded. Perhaps then the people of Canada will be able to see that list, acknowledge the atrocities and healing can begin for all communities.  A Memorial can also serve as a place where families of the children can go and feel that finally their loved ones have been seen. This has already been a TRC Call to Action since 2015 and hopefully your signature will help to push this government to act on it. Please sign and share. FYI: The painting displayed is by Canadian Cree artist Kent Monkman. It may seem disturbing to some but that was his point. To depict the truth.

Justice for #215Children

On Thursday May 27, 2021 news broke about the remains of 215 indigenous children as young as 3 years old at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School the Tk'emlups te Secwépemc First Nation in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. This school, one of several, was associated with, managed, directed and taught by the Catholic Church and the Canadian Government.  It is estimated by scholars that there is more than 2500 and closer to 6000 children who died while attending these residential schools across Canada. We are sure that once a proper investigation is completed a much greater number will present itself. This will be the largest genocide discovery in Canadian history and we are calling on the Government of Canada to give Justice to the #215children who died while forced into the Residential School system. To date the Vatican refuses to apologize for this act of genocide and the Canadian government has not held one single person criminally responsible and we demand justice for the #215children SIGN NOW!!!  DEMAND JUSTICE FOR #215CHILDREN!!  Please email or tweet this call to: The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada Email: Twitter:  @JustinTrudeau The Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Indigenous Services Email: Twitter: @MarcMillerVN The Honourable Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations Email: Twitter: @Carolyn_Bennett
