Petition to Donald Trump
Oppose Trump’s BLM Plan Using Mass Sterilization & Slaughter to Manage Horse Population
Petition Opposing BLM’s Extinction of Wild Horses & Land Decimation Join The Movement – American’s Against BLM Plan Threatening Wild Horses And Public Lands Cana Foundation calls upon citizens, animal and environmental advocates to sign petition opposing any BLM Plans that threaten wild horses with extinction and give preferential treatment to public lands livestock grazing over the sustainability of our environment. The BLM plan includes mass sterilization, sale without limitations and even slaughter to curb an exaggerated over population issue instead of using more creative and less costly programs such as REWILDING America’s Wild Horses onto available lands. This devastating plan places our Wild Horse Nation further at risk and continues to give preferential treatment to public lands livestock grazing over the wellbeing and stability of our wildlife & environment. Our Horses & Habitats Need Your Help!

Save the Pine Nut Fish Springs Wild Horses from Capture!
We the undersigned citizens are calling on the Bureau of Land Management to leave the Pine Nut Fish Springs wild horses in their home on our public lands near Gardnerville, Nevada. These iconic Nevada mustangs have an international following and are an important tourism resource for the local area. The local community embraces their presence and the livestock grazing permitee in the area supports their protection. The Fish Springs wild horses are managed through a community partnership that utilizes the PZP birth control vaccine to humanely reduce population growth in the herd. It makes no sense to round up and remove horses that are being successfully managed at no cost to taxpayers.... especially given that the round up, removal and storage of 45 horses in holding pens could cost taxpayers $1 million or more! Worse, given the BLM's push for lethal management solutions, every horse removed from the range will be in grave danger of being killed or slaughtered. This Administration has stated a commitment to honoring the wishes of local communities. In the interest of fiscal responsibility and humane treatment of these cherished horses, we urge you to honor the citizens and businesses of this area and the interests of horse lovers throughout the world by leaving the Fish Springs horses on our public lands. At minimum, any removals that do take place must be incremental and must not exceed the local community’s capacity to train and adopt the horses out to quality and long-term homes.

Lower the maximum temperature for which horse-drawn carriages are allowed to operate
As Mohandas K. Gandhi once said, "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." There is no reason horses in the city of Chicago should have to pull people around in 90 degree weather. It is 88 degrees outside today and there are horse-carriages everywhere. The city of Chicago's current regulation on horse-carriages is that they can operate when the temperature gets up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. I propose we lower the maximum temperature in which horse-carriages can operate to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. This is a very reasonable request and it will help the animals out greatly. The city of Chicago needs to stop allowing these animals to suffer in the heat. There have been many instances where horses have died of heat stroke from hot summer heat and humidity. Horses may even suffer from dehydration. Horses can easily be overworked and this is even worse in very hot weather. Making horses carry heavy carriages around all day in hot weather borders animal abuse. The pavement gets much hotter than the air temperature. Horse's hooves will get damaged from the extremely hot temperatures of the pavement. Show you care by lowering the maximum temperature in which horse-carriages can operate in Chicago to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. We cannot condone animal cruelty in the city of Chicago. Here are some links of incidents involving horse-carriages:http://aldf.org/blog/5-things-you-didnt-know-about-the-carriage-horse-industry/https://youtu.be/4pj4XM-A5swhttp://www.nyclass.org/horse_drawn_carriages
Petition to Bureau of Land Management
STOP the re-creation of Horse Meat Slaughter houses in America
The Department of the Interior, under the guidance of Secretary Ryan Zinke, has signaled its plan to abolish decades-old federal protections for wild horses and burros and to permit them to be shipped to slaughter by the tens of thousands. This cruel practice not only harms these innocent animals but adds to water pollution, decreases property values and increases air pollution. The 27 lawmakers who voted against the Roybal-Allard/Dent amendment are aware of the dangerous impact that these slaughterhouses will have on local communities. Rescue groups and sanctuaries are constantly outbid by kill-buyers during auctions. This leads to a cruel death for these intelligent and emotional animals. Limiting overbreeding, providing shelter and expanding adoption will positively impact the horses as well as our communities and the environment. Please let congress know that you oppose the reintroduction of horse slaughter in the USA!

Cancel and Boycott “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Classes - North Carolina Championship Show
Please SIGN this Petition to STOP “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty to beautiful Tennessee Walking Horses. Asheville and Fletcher, North Carolina, are two progessive beautiful cities located in Western North Carolina. Both are known for gentle tolerance, enlightenment and kindness. Unfortunately, these two cities are hosting the three day “Big Lick” North Carolina Championship Walking Horse Show, Oct. 6 – 8. Sadly, the horse show will feature “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty to Tennessee Walking Horses. Tennessee Walking Horses are tortured from an early age to learn how to do the “Big Lick”. It is a pain induced gait. The horses throw their legs high while wearing Chains and 6 – 8 pound stack shoes. Caustic chemicals are applied to sensitive skin above the horses hooves, and then wrapped with plastic to “cook in” the chemicals which causes the skin to be blistered. When the chains hit the skin, the horses throw their front legs high while squatting down on their back legs – creating the cruel “Big Lick”. “Big Lick” TWH are the only horses in America which wear Chains in the show ring. According to Tennessean and Noted Equine Vet Dr. John Haffner, the "Big Lick" is a "business built on the suffering and pain of horses". Dr. Haffner is a member of the Horse Science Faculty at MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University) in Murfreesboro, TN. Even worse, the horse show will be held at the McGough Arena at the Western North Carolina Agriculture Center owned by the State of North Carolina. Of 83 total horse classes 45 will feature the “Big Lick” gait. In March 2015, the North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture banned “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Horses from the 2015 NC State Fair. This action came after a Change.Org Petition gained almost 20,000 signatures, and a public Protest was held at the 2014 NC State Fair. At the 2015 North Carolina Championship Horse Show, USDA Vet inspectors disqualified a shocking 35% of all the “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Horses they inspected for allegedly being in violation of the Horse Protection Act (Animal Cruelty). On July 25, 2016, the U. S. Secretary of Agriculture took action and opened a Public Comment period to make the “Big Lick” illegal by removing the “Pads and Chains”, consequently abolishing the “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty. So far over 81% of the “Public Comments” favor the Federal Regulation to the Horse Protection Act. The Regulation can be made official after October 26, 2016. It’s time for Americans, and people all over the World, to urge the General Manager of the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center; North Carolina Chief Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture; and the Mayor of Fletcher, North Carolina to ban the “Big Lick” Tennessee Walking Horse classes, and to urge the public to Boycott “Big Lick” Animal Cruelty. After you SIGN, please SHARE the petition with your friends and family via email, Facebook, and Twitter! Your PETITION Signatures and Comments will be delivered to the proper officials. Ask MTSU, And Mr. Rick Insell, To Sever Ties With The Animal Cruelty Of The Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horse
These horribly scarred feet, photographed on July 28, 2015, belong to a Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horse named “Gen’s Ice Glimmer” (TWHBEA Reg. #20404770/Bloodtype #TWT050457) "Glimmer" was found to be "SORE"on April 5, 2013, at the MTSU Walking For Education Horse Show held on the MTSU campus. Mr. Andy Simpson, hired as a Judge by the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration 2012 Spring Fun Show, allegedly committed cruel acts to make "Glimmer" perform the Big Lick . Facing other federal Animal Cruelty charges unrelated to "Glimmer", Mr. Simpson started an 8 month federal suspension from showing TWH on June 1, 2015 which runs to January 31, 2016. Thanks to the Horse Plus Humane Rescue of Hohenwald, Tennessee, “Glimmer” was saved from slaughter on July 28, 2015 when a person with the 2015 Citizens Campaign Against Big Lick Animal Cruelty. bought Glimmer before he went under the auctioneer’s hammer with killer buyers present. With his feet permanently disfigured, "Glimmer" was no more use to the various people who used him for family entertainment for nine years . So they apparently decided to get rid of him. Almost 11 year old “Glimmer's” last show was the July 18, 2015 London, Kentucky Horse Show. On July 19, “Ice Glimmer” was offered “For Sale” on Craigs List by a person who won a World Championship at the 2014 Celebration. "Glimmer" was then taken to auction on July 28 by the WC winner's father. Fortunately, a person decided "Glimmer" wasn't going to be allowed to be sold at auction for killer prices. This person stepped in and bought "Glimmer" in the auction company's parking lot where he was being ridden by a young woman on a hard rock surface with lead in his feet and chains around his ankles. "Glimmer" was inspected on July 31 by a USDA VMO, and found to be bilaterally sore and permanently scarred in both front feet. A USDA APHIS IES (Investigatory Enforcement Service) investigation was opened to determine what, if any, laws had been violated. “Glimmer” possesses a blue ribbon pedigree, and a nine year show record over five states - Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, South Carolina and Virgina. Ironically, the MTSU basketball coach Mr. Rick Insell serves as one of seven Directors of the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Mr. Insell has said, "The Celebration has been my life for the last 40 years and being able to stay involved is big for my family and always will. I really enjoy spending my Friday and Saturday nights during the summer watching them showcase their talents and wonderful horses at the one-night shows across the midstate." Beginning on August 27 and running through September, the Celebration will feature Big Lick Animal Cruelty. At the 2014 TWH Celebration, USDA Vet inspectors disqualified over 15% of all Big Lick horses it inspected. On July 25, 2015 (three days before Glimmer was saved), USDA Vet inspectors at the Pulaski Red Carpet Horse Show found 39% of the Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horses it inspected as “SORE” or not complying with the Horse Protection Act. A state supported University with 23,000 students located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, MTSU has no business allowing Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horses on its campus, or the Animal Cruelty associated with them to stain its reputation as a place of academic learning. In 2013, the flagship University of Tennessee chose to no longer allow a Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horse to be exhibited at the annual UT Homecoming football game. It now features a natural flat shod TWH. In March 2015, the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) refused to accept a $50,000.00 donation to its children’s hospital generated by Big Lick Animal Cruelty at the Mississippi Charity Horse Show. In 2015, the North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture banned Big Lick Tennessee Walking Horses from the 2015 NC State Fair after protests against Big Lick Animal Cruelty. Over 50,000 persons have signed Petitions against Big Lick Animal Cruelty. Tennesseans have staged four public protests against it. A BOYCOTT Protest will take place at the Celebration in less than three weeks. It’s now time for MTSU to sever all ties with Big Lick Animal Cruelty, by banning the Big Lick TWH from being exhibited on its property, and to no longer allow its salaried employees to be associated with the Animal Cruelty in any way And it’s also time for MTSU employee Mr. Rick Insell, to either immediately resign from the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration Board, or to resign as the MTSU Blue Raiders Basketball coach. One of the greatest Tennessee Walking Horses which ever lived, the immortal Wilson’s Allen (never shown Big Lick), is buried in front of the Horse Science Building at MTSU. It would honor the memory of Wilson Allen, sire of Midnight Sun, for MTSU to set an example, and ban the Big Lick Animal Cruelty, once and for all.
