GBS testing for babies born to GBS positive Mothers
I am Sharing my story for all expectant mothers who have tested positive for GBS. Group B Strep is a bacteria naturally found in the urinary bladder, rectum, or vagina. Women in Canada are routinely tested to determine whether or not they are GBS Positive. When a mother tests positive for GBS not enough information is provided by health care practitioners about the signs/symptoms, and possible effects on the baby. IV antibiotics is the recommended treatment for Early onset GBS which occurs within one week after birth. Late Onset can occur within three months after birth. Here is my son's experience with GBS. When i found out I had GBS I was told by our hospital that it was normal and 4 hours of antibiotics would keep my baby safe. I trusted what the doctor had said and this is my story. I gave birth October 5th to a beautiful 9 pound 4 ounce baby boy. I was told during my pregnancy that I had group B Strep and that while I went into labour I would have to take antibiotics in order to not pass the infection onto my baby. I did just that I waited four hours of having antibiotics before I pushed and delivered. Three weeks later, with no signs or symptoms that my baby boy was sick; he fell so incredibly ill. At 6 p.m. on Tuesday night we were feeding him his bottle and noticed he was cranky. As most parents would think it was gas pains. We then gave my little one a bath to try to alleviate his gas and noticed he was pale. He then began having breathing problems. This all happened between 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. when I called the ambulance because his breathing was so scary. An hour later of being in the emergency department he began having seizures and stopped breathing on his own. He was put on life support. The next day after a spinal tap and blood work was done we found out that our son had Group B Strep Meningitis. He was airlifted to the IWK and he was treated with antibiotics and many pain medications to keep him comfortable. The infection made it to his blood and the outside of his brain. While we prayed for good results over the next 3 days the antibiotics finally stopped the growth of the infection. We were told from day one that my son only had a 50/50 chance and that he may come out of it with brain damage nothing was ever certain.... After 4 long days we found out the effects of GBS meningitis. It caused so much brain damage my son would have never been able to eat on his own, feed himself, breathe for himself, walk, talk, remember, or learn. He died from this horrible infection. At three weeks old I had to bury my son. GBS can be fatal and lead to devestating life-long disabilities. The symptoms are extremely hard to recognize and they hit hard and fast. I wish the hospitals could have done a blood test or monitored my son more to watch for signs of GBS instead of thinking everything was OK because I received antibiotics during labor. Please fight to have your child tested after birth regardless of the fact you had antibiotics before delivery.
Petition to my mom
Get PurpleAnt a bird
I really need a bird, i love them so much. The kind of bird i want specifically is an African Grey Parrot. They’re very affectionate birds and like talking with thier owners more than they like physical contact. So i can talk to my bird instead of myself when i’m working :D This probably isn’t going to do anything, but maybe it’ll show my mom how much i want a bird. I’ve handled an african grey before and i actually love them.

Hi my name is Chelsea Vachon I am 22 years old now my child was apprehended when I was 19 due to the fact I have a brain disability that I was born with something called foetal alcohol syndrome or alcohol related neurological disorder because I had to learning assessment from school they As in the children aid and some judges believe that my assessment is who I am! For indeed it is not I've lived on my own since 19 I have pets I take care of on a daily basis I have worked with children and yet I am an unsuitable parent because I was born with something I cannot control they will not help methey will not even take a second look at me I am adopted into an amazing family The lady who adopted me is my great aunt ! and for some reason she's an unfit character to adopt my daughter she had done daycare for over a great period Of time, and had also did emergency care fostering for the children aid and she's not a good fit to adopt my daughter who is her granddaughter! I am absolutely livid and disgusted by the children aid society they're discriminating against her age and so much more this is unjust and needs to be dealt with and such a severe manner. Petition to Justin Trudeau
Call for a Canadian election now not in 2019.
I'll keep this short. With the release of our budgets all across Canada it seems we need to have a call for a re-election. It appears no one is happy or has been happy for 2 years, the same 2 years the federal party had to make a change. This is a call for a re-election both federally and provincially across Canada. If you feel we need to see if Canada still backs the parties they initially voted for, sign and share.

Government of Canada should send drought aid directly to organizations based in Somaliland
CONCERNS THAT $21 MILLION AID PACKAGE WILL NOT REACH SOMALILAND Dear Prime Minister Trudeau, Minister Freeland, and Minister Bibeau, Firstly we would like to thank you for providing assistance to countries suffering from food crises in Africa and the Middle East. According to a report by CBC News, Somalia will receive $21 million from the $119 million aid package that was announced by Immigration Minister, Ahmed Hussen. The report also states that Canada's contribution will be delivered through non-governmental humanitarian organizations in Somalia. The amount for Somalia is not what prompted this letter - but rather the worrying reality that Somaliland might not get any of the above-stated aid. The Republic of Somaliland is a de facto sovereign state that has been independent for the last 26 years. The de facto state has never had any relations with Somalia or the central government since they restored independence in 1991. Despite having de facto independence, Somaliland is still internationally unrecognized. As you are all probably aware, Somalia's "central government" has been widely associated with rampant corruption, fraud, and money laundering. Many NGO's based in Somalia often cut deals with the government and have been accused of being just as corrupt. There is no guarantee that aid will reach Somaliland if it is sent to NGO's that are not based in Somaliland. That being said, we are kindly asking the Government of Canada to send Somaliland’s portion of the aid directly to NGO's and charities based in Somaliland. Many countries that have informal ties with Republic of Somaliland such as the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Ethiopia and the United Kingdom have done so already. We strongly believe that the Government of Canada is truly sincere about helping those in need. Therefore, we cannot stress how important it is to get in contact with Somaliland NGO's and charities in order to help the desperate drought victims in Somaliland. Regards,Somalilander-Canadian Community and Global Somaliland diaspora
