"Make Large Employer Self-Funded Plans cover ABA Therapy for Autism"

Hello, my name is Amy and I am a single mother of twin 6 yr old boys diagnosed with autism.  When one of my sons was 2 years old I began to notice changes in his behavior and mannerisms that caused me concern.  I had had him evaluated and he was diagnosed with autism at age 3.  His twin was diagnosed 6 months later.  Both of my sons have challenging behaviors and desperately need Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and other therapies to treat their autism.  However, my very large, national and multi-billion dollar employer is self-funded and has denied coverage for their services in violation of the ADA (Americans w/Disabilities Act) and ERISA/MHPAEA (Mental Health Parity Act)  As a result, I am pursuing a litigation against my employer hoping to compel it to cover my sons’ ABA therapy.  I have also asked the Court to compel my employer to cover ABA therapy for the rest of the children of my fellow employees and to rule that it is a violation of federal law for my health insurance plan to exclude ABA therapy.  We have won some notable rulings but trial is almost a year away, and me and my children need your help!  Autism is not curable BUT it is so treatable with the right therapy.  ABA is the primary therapy accepted by the medical community to treat autism.  It needs to be provided intensely and as early as possible to give children like mine and my fellow employees a chance for best possible outcomes.  Unfortunately, after 2 years of fighting, my employer continues to stand its ground and deny ABA services to my children and the rest of the children of its employees. When asked by my legal team why I was choosing to take a stand against my huge employer my response was this.  "I am fighting for my son's who don't have a voice, the other families in my company and the autism community across the world.  Litigation is expensive and my children have not gotten the ABA and other therapies that they need while I pursue this fight on behalf of everyone!   They've missed almost 2 precious years and have regressed in so many ways.  Please help me in getting the word out there to have this changed.  We have State Mandates but no Federal Mandates to protect anyone with ERISA/Self-Funded Plans. Help spread the word and God bless!

Stop Appalachian State University From Becoming A Sanctuary University

--- WE THE STUDENTS OF APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY AND/OR CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA HEREBY REQUEST THAT THE LEADERSHIP OF UNC SYSTEM / APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY IMMEDIATELY AND PUBLICLY DENY THIS REQUEST. --- Appalachian State University's Student Government Association President Mr. Howard and Vice-President Mr. Dawson have recently announced that the SGA officially urges the Appalachian State University Board of Governors and Administartion to declare the the University as a SANCTUARY UNIVERSITY (akin to Sanctuary Cities). The announcement can be found here: ASU SGA - Official Announcement 030717 This ridiculous request from the SGA for the University, a federally funded institution, to engage in an act of defiance against Federal laws is not only shame to the University system, but a danger to all citizens of the United States of America. It also potentially endangers federal funding.   It requests: That the University and Administration and Campus Police do not assist, or prevent, or actively work against Federal agencies or law enforcement. Implement new costly programs to continue to provide education to "undocumented students" even after they are arrested, imprisoned, deported, "or afraid to appear on campus". Mandatory training for University employees and optional training for students to indoctrinate political correctness. Create funds to directly assist individuals and families of undocumented students, and faculty/staff. Create more "safe spaces" on campus for undocumented students and others, where freedom of speech is restricted. And more!

Petition to WE THE PEOPLE!!!! And none corrupte state officials

I want my son home.

I just want my son back. He has been in an out of home safety plan for over a year now and Cullman County DHR/CPS just continues to do me and anyone else how they please as long as they continue to get paychecks off of our children because that's exactly what they are using my 3 year old son as A PAYCHECK. I was in a car wreck back last February and was rushed to the emergency room. My son was not with me he was safely with my mother at her house yes I tested positive for multiple substance's but I was legitimately drugged beings how I was working as an adult entertainer at the time. I was a legal adult entertainer and did my work the legal way it never stopped me from my motherly duties nor did I slack as a mother and taking care of my son. I have passed every urine drug screen, every hair follicle test they have given me, and got my own place to live with a room for my son. I have had my place since last June. I have done and completed parenting classes, I have done and completed one on one sessions addressing my substance abuse and anxiety issues, I have completed a substance abuse assessment, and passed random drug screens. I miscarried my second child back last November because two Dhr workers came to my home and harassed me for an hour and thirty minutes I denied a urine test because they had me emotionally distraught by threatening to pick my son up from where he was staying and said they was going to place him with the state. I have medical records from the day I miscarried proving I was clean of all illegal substances. I want my son back I have proved very hard that I love and need and want my son DHR STOP MAKING EXCUSES AS TO WHY I CAN'T HAVE HIM HOME WHERE HE SHOULD BE. Please help me and my son James we're tired of suffering going to the director over the building or supervisors or even the state department in Montgomery does NO GOOD AT ALL if you are tired of suffering do something to help make a change so it stops the corrupt state facilities from tearing another loving family apart.

End the corrupt madness of DHR's power

Re-classify domestic animals from "property" to "sentient beings" in the United States.

After several prominent and severe domestic animal murders in Western Washington, citizens in this state and across the nation are asking for a change to re-classify domestic animals from "property" to "sentient beings." Generally, in law, a sentient being is one with the faculty of sensation and the power to perceive, reason and think. This follows a horrible murder of a family cat in Centralia, WA by an 11-year-old girl, who only received probation. Let us not forget about the rape and murder of the pit bull Diamond in Thurston County, WA, who was an emotional support animal for a young child. And, along with countless other incidents, let us also not forget about the neglect, abuse, starvation and murder of the dog Wolfy in Bucoda, WA. And these are only 3 cases out of unfortunately thousands in the state of Washington alone.  All of the people accused of the crimes against these animals don't see how they are wrong in doing what they allegedly have done.  They don't see animals, such as these creatures, as an entity that has the capacity to perceive, reason and think -- much like an attacker sees their human victim. Studies show that there is a link between animal cruelty and violent crimes on humans. Studies have also shown that domestic animals such as dogs and cats (and most non-human animals) have thoughts and emotions. What person with a small dog or cat in the home hasn't stepped out of the room, only to hear their pet barking/whining/meowing because they are leaving without them. Other countries around the world have already re-classified domestic animals from "property" to "sentient beings", giving these beloved family companions the same legally protective rights as children.  These animals that we hold dear to us and our families are not on the same level as cell phones, computers, and other replaceable property. They are one of a kind and leave a mark in our hearts, minds and souls forever. It is time for the United States re-classify legally what domestic animals are to us, giving a stronger penalty to people who commit unspeakable crimes against animals that we consider part of our families as well as creating a solution to halting the possible growth of future crimes against human beings.
