In the name of an alleged energy saving, citizens of many countries are forced to change their official time twice a year. Obediently, we all move the hands of our oldest clocks. Each spring we go without an hour of sleep which we will not get back until autumn. Twice a year, we have to deal with a sudden change in the time of sunrise and sunset, and in the rhythm of our days. This measure, decided by a few people a long time ago, is it a real need nowadays? Are there any reasons to maintain this strange habit? Despite the technological society we live in, the human being is still an animal, whose physical and cerebral activity is really affected by natural cycles, in particular those of daylight. Even the production of hens and cows is affected by these factors, so why should we despise the influence of these abrupt changes in our body, our health, our balance and our performance? Changes in daylight happen naturally in a gradual way, caused by the earth's orbiting around the sun. These changes are very different depending on which part of the planet. Near the Equator, night and day are practically the same all year round, while close to the poles, they only have one night and one day a year -lasting six months each. Why are we then to presume that a time change on a given day -the same in the north of the Scandinavian Peninsula and in the south of the Iberian Peninsula- can harmonise our activity with the natural light available? We do not know who estimates, measures or verifies the alleged energy saving that is proclaimed every year. May be it is a new article of faith of our civilization. In our "twenty-four/seven" society, probably the most effective -and much needed- measures for the sake of energy saving are others, aimed at avoiding wastage, rationalizing consumption and educating the population. Even allowing us to understand that days are -naturally and not because the government decides so- shorter during winter and longer in the summer, would be more effective than this time changing. To put an end to the "Daylight Saving" Time and, instead, adjust the official time of each country to the nearest time zone all throughout the year. Also to promote flexitime and to strengthen the work-life balance as well as to foster true energy saving and clean energy consumption policies.

Con respeto, Todos para un río Grande-Colorado sin represas ================================================ ENGLISH VERSION Dear Honorable President Macri, Río Grande-Colorado is an incredible natural resource that flows through the Payunia Natural Reserve with its desert volcanic landscapes and provides one of the best ways for tourists to experience the reserve - on rafting expeditions. The river should remain free so all humanity can appreciate its unspoiled unique nature - so unique, in fact, that it is under consideration to be declared a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Mendoza hydroelectric project Portazuelo del Viento on Rio Grande is an ill-conceived scheme that will flood and will steal water from this river. The project consists of not only a 597ft-high dam that will drown more than 20 miles of the river, it also will divert most of the river water into the Río Atuel drainage and thus remove water from the Payunia Reserve and from people living downstream in La Pampa. Furthermore, the overall project consists not only of a single dam - when the Chinese company Gezhouba (which built the destructive Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River) ends with this first project, it aims to build a complex of 4 additional massive dams downstream resulting in nearly a complete destruction of Río Grande-Colorado. Río Grande-Colorado should be accessible to all the people of Argentina and the world and considered a national and international treasure as part of the Payunia Reserve that it flows through. All the natural water in the river deserves to flow through the Payunia Reserve and reach province of La Pampa downstream. With more and more people of Argentina and around the world beginning to understand and protect this natural region, it is destined to become one of the most beloved natural places of Argentina. We therefore oppose the Portezuelo del Viento hydroelectric project and other proposed dams downstream on Río Grande-Colorado. We support development of alternative sustainable ways to generate electricity for people of Argentina using solar and wind power. We request that officials declare all the money they have received from the dam-building company Gezhouba. Also, we ask for a financial accounting of the real cost of the project, including the losses that will be incurred with respect to the environment, the potential of ecotourism, and the people of La Pampa. Sincerely, Supporters of a free-flowing Río Grande-Colorado

Save Green! Save life!

Have you ever stopped to look at your surroundings? Have you ever asked yourself just how this came to be? The NASA has captured planet Earth year after year from space. Have you seen them? Year after year, less GREEN, more GREY. Why do we even need green? Well, being plants produce our main source of oxygen, we depend on nature for all the air we have breathed, ever.Green also composes some of our main food sources, like fruits and vegetables. It provides us shade, oxygen, vitamins and LIFE. Nature is our strongest and most primordial source of life., after all, we are all her children. Deforestation, pollution and industrialization are responsible for poisoning and killing of our natural resources at astonishing rates. I’m sure you’ve asked yourself: What can I do? How can I put an end to this? Simple, you can plant a seed of Life. Beyond signing this petition, you can help the environment in countless ways. From using less water, reducing your use of plastics, saving energy, recycling to joining clean-up groups to reduce waste at your local forest, beach or park. Even picking up a piece of trash from the street creates momentum. So many options to chose from and you’re still not convinced? Perhaps you see the problem as bigger than yourself, beyond your reach to make a change. But that my friends, is why we’re here. We are all sharing life on the same planet and that’s the way it’s been since the beginning of time. Our children and grandchildren will also live all the days of their lives in the same planet. Pretty simple logic. Now, let's take good care of it. Let's take care of nature, the environment and all sources of life. Let's make the planet green again! It's up the open minds, entrepreneurs, inventors, artists and poets. It only takes yourself to start a movement, to make a change. Let’s promote and build a green empire on this ground again. To build more GREEN and less dirt. This is our home and will always be our home. Educate yourself and those around you. It's important to realize look deeper and analyze the changes our planet is experiencing. Let’s start treating it like a living being. Many of us have been growing sick and so many species died and become extinguished. And many more will follow the same path if we don’t take action now. Many studies reveal that if we continue like this, we’ll see a significant decrease in the planet’s health. Twenty years from now or perhaps even less, more species will leave us, the atmosphere will become weaker, temperatures will change, we’ll see even worse natural disasters, more fire, more drought, acidic oceans and rivers. Life itself is in deep danger of being obliterated. We can make the change. As a motivator and potential solution, I bring this movement and call on all who feel the call to join us in our journey of carrying the word GREEN forward and not backward. To take action and initiative in all areas we envision, to plant more trees, more plants, to clean, recycle and change our lifestyle. Let's plant in a million colors!
