Petition to Debra Ortega, ROBIN KNIECH, City of Denver
End the Ridiculous Breed Ban and Killing of innocent dogs in Denver CO!
Yes, this is still happening in 2018! The breed ban on pitbulls in Denver was passed in 1989 and some may not even know it exsists! According to the Denver AC and Denver city website ; “The ban has been in place since 1989. The ban is in effect for American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, or Staffordshire Bull Terrier.Pit bull type dogs are defined as any dog displaying the majority of physical traits of any one or more of the above breeds, or any dog exhibiting those distinguishing (physical) characteristics, which substantially conform to the standards established by AKC or UKC .The ban is not the entire city (certain counties do not uphold it and some ever so often have proposals to try to overturn it in Court hearings like the Current proposal in Lakewood county), but the city and county of Denver do strictly enforce and ultimately terminate the dog if can’t be relocated in time” I know this is shocking to those of us who know Co to be a dog friendly state but if no one ever takes action nothing will be done. Below are the names and emails of both council women (yes women!!) upholding this ridiculous outdated ban killing these sweet babies for no reason. You can Contact: Robin Kniech at 720-337-7712 or Kniechatlarge@denvergov.org and Debra Ortega at 720-337-7713 or ortegaatlarge@denvergovorg. Speaking to the AC of Denver they were polite but so matter of fact about the dog being put down that I more and more do think Mass killings of these beautiful dogs are being done behind close doors in one of the best and animal living states in the country! Sign the petition and end this ridiculous law now! Petition to Mayor Michael Hancock and City Councilman Albus Brooks
Urge Denver Mayor Hancock & Councilman Brooks to End Sweeps & Repeal Urban Camping Ban!
In 2012 Denver Mayor Hancock and Denver City Councilman Albus Brooks enforced a citywide "Urban Camping Ban", which states that any person who is houseless can face fines and jail due-if they used any type of shelter such as sleeping bags, tarps, or tents. Since 2012, many houseless folx in Denver have faced criminalization for just being houseless. The cost of housing/living has skyrocketed in the Denver Metro Area; leaving many Coloradans with low-pay, displacement, and no shelter. While Mayor Hancock and Albus Brooks continue to profit off of gentrification, shelters are at capacity with poor conditions like bedbugs, mold and many people face discrimination based on their sexual identity and history. As the temperature drops, Mayor Hancock has ordered The Denver Police Department to "Sweep" several areas where houseless folx have found safe space. DPD often gives little to no resources to these folx they have criminalized-forcing them with no place to go and taking away what little possessions they own. Houselessness, is a direct result of low-wage jobs, racism/discrimination, gentrification, displacement, and not enough resources. We are asking Mayor Hancock and City Councilman Albus Brooks to end the sweeps, repeal the Urban Camping Ban and provide direct and reliable resources for houseless folx in Denver. Please sign this petition today to let Mayor Hancock and Councilman Albus Brooks know that the criminalization of homelessness is inhumane and that HOUSING IS A HUMAN RIGHT! http://www.denverpost.com/2016/12/05/homeless-sweeps-denver-city-council-repeal-camping-ban/ https://denverhomelessoutloud.org/top-13-reasons-the-urban-camping-ban-does-not-work/ http://www.westword.com/news/dpd-crackdown-on-homeless-camping-ban-enforcement-up-500-percent-7933788

DENVER MAYOR HANCOCK, RESIGN NOW. SEXUAL HARASSMENT, ABUSE OF POWER, IS NOT OK.
TIMES UP HANCOCK!! Sexual harassment & abuse of power will not be tolerated at any level.TELL DENVER MAYOR HANCOCK TO RESIGN & CITY TO INVESTIGATE_________________________THE DETAILS: On February 27, 2018, Mayor Michael Hancock, the powerful, Mayor of Denver, admitted that he sent "inappropriate" texts to an employee, a female police officer, Leslie Branch-Wise. She worked as a member of his personal security detail. Hancock was her Boss.SEE NEWS VIDEO: https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/investigations/denver-mayor-michael-hancock-apologizes-after-police-detective-accuses-him-of-sexual-harassment "YOU MAKE IT HARD ON A BROTHA": A sample of the texts: He asked her if she had ever "taken a pole-dancing course before?" He warned her, "Be careful! I'm curious." Also, "Just giving you a hard time. I have to keep you balanced. All I hear from my friends is how fine you are.” And, "You look sexy in all that black..." and, “You made it hard on a brotha to keep it correct every day.” HE MADE HER SICK: She claimed that his unsolicited texts made her "sick to her stomach" and that they were "scary." She said that it was sexual harassment. She said she didn't know who to turn to since he was her boss. She transferred to another detail to escape the harassment. VICTIM BLAMING: Hancock tried to make less of his offenses by doing some victim blaming, saying he thought that they were "friends." He gave this explanation: " I blurred the lines between being a friend and being a boss" and that she didn't tell him, and he didn't know that they "contributed to her pain." DENIES THAT OBSCENE TEXTS WERE HARASSMENT: Hancock offered a belated apology to his victim, as if that would take him off the hook, and surprised everyone when he claimed that his texts did not constitute sexual harassment. His assertion seems out of line with Title VII of the Civil Right Act of 1964 and The City and County of Denver's own policies. DOUBLE STANDARD?: If he were any other city employee he would have been fired. In Denver there is no explicit process to follow when your tormentor is your boss or an elected politician! Coincidence? PROSTITUTES? Hancock reportedly has unresolved past links to stories alleging sexually inappropriate behavior — most notably involving the Denver Players/Denver Sugar prostitution ring. HOT POTATO? Politicians, bureaucrats, elected officials, Denver City Council people, the Governor, newspapers, mayoral appointees... perhaps fearing the wrath of Hancock ... are sealing their lips and running for cover. On March 18, 2018, Officer Leslie Branch Wise showed unbelievable courage when she publicly called for the city council to investigate Denver Mayor Hancock's sexual harassment of her. City Councilman Albus Brooks said there were no disputed issues. WRONG. The Mayor says what he did was not sexual harassment but blurred lines. Sexual harassers often refuse to admit that what they do is sexual harassment. They tell their victims that they are sorry and promise not to do it again. That is an old story for victims of sexual harassment and sexual abuse. Victims are afraid that they will not be believed or that there will be retaliation. They believe, and it appears rightly so , that their company or agency will turn on them in favor of protecting "the boss": DENVER CITY COUNCIL SEEMS TO BE COVERING UP FOR THE MAYOR? EMAIL local, award winning, investigative journalist Julie Hayden: firstname.lastname@example.org. _________________________________________________________________________WE WILL NOT LET IT "GO AWAY" BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP:PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION: 1. TELL DENVER MAYOR MICHAEL HANCOCK TO RESIGN NOW...AND 2. CALL ON DENVER CITY COUNCIL TO FUND AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION INTO ALLEGATIONS OF CORRUPTION, RETALIATION AND SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN THE HANCOCK ADMINISTRATION. 3. COME TO OUR RALLY AT MAYOR HANCOCK'S CABINET IN THE COMMUNITY, SATURDAY MARCH 24, 8:30AM - 11:00. EXDO EVENT CENTER 1399 35TH ST, DENVER 80205.__________________________________________ Thank you. Build a Pavilion on Sloan's Lake, Denver CO
On numerous times the general public has been exposed to adverse weather conditions putting them at risk with safety and their general well being. We propose a public pavilion house to provide a space for community gathering and also protect personal property and well being of the visitors of the public park. This was in the master plan originally however it wasn't delivered to the residents.

City O' City - Break Free From Plastic
The equivalent of a garbage truck worth of plastic is entering our oceans every sixty seconds and it’s ending up in our water- 94% of Americans having traces of plastic in their tap water. We deserve a plastic free future! We can only break free from plastic if companies take responsibility for their part in choking our oceans. We’re urging City O’ City, Watercourse, and Make Believe Bakery to phase out all single use plastics in their restaurants and promote solutions that end the culture behind single use plastic. Our waterways need to be protected from plastic pollution. Add your name to demand to see a plastic free future in Denver!
