Count 50% VVPAT - Indian General Elections 2019
Severe lapses and large number of incidents involving the malfunctioning of the EVMs were witnessed during the Phase-1 of Indian General Elections 2019. In several parts of Andhra Pradesh, polling did not start before noon and in some booths went on till 4AM, next day causing severe inconvenience to the voters and raising several doubts on the effectiveness of the elections. As all the major political parties in India, barring a few, resonate with the voters on the doubts about the performance of the EVMs and the reliability and validity of the machines which are being used since 2004, the main aim of this petition is to ensure atleast 50% of the VVPAT are counted to address the doubts and give confidence on the fairness of the election process to the voters.

#ECaction: Petition Election Commission for arranging debates between candidates
In today's world of Information & Communications Technology and hundreds of News Channels, the Indian electorate is ill-served by our obsolete election processes. It is easy to fix this problem and improve the quality of leaders who get elected with a little help from The Election Commission of India. Article 324 in The Constitution Of India 1949 empowers the EC: 324. Superintendence, direction and control of elections to be vested in an Election Commission (1) The superintendence, direction and control of the preparation of the electoral rolls for, and the conduct of, all elections to Parliament and to the Legislature of every State and of elections to the offices of President and Vice President held under this Constitution shall be vested in a Commission (referred to in this Constitution as the Election Commission). So, EC is responsible for "conduct of all elections". Why should it not arrange for a platform for the candidates to a) publish their statement of objectives, b) air their views and even debate with other contenders on regional or national TV, depending upon their being “star campaigners”? The EC should suggest a slate of moderators for the debate and the contestants can mutually select one or two for each debate. There should be an opportunity for at least one debate for each constituency’s contestants in regional TV channels and at least three debates for star campaigners in National TV channels. The debates should be arranged one week after the last date of publishing statement of objectives by the candidates. Only those candidates should be invited for debate who have published their statements of objectives, filed all statutory affidavits to the EC with required disclosures. If there are more than “x” number of contestants, the moderators may be allowed to conduct preliminary elimination rounds of popularity in town hall meetings, just in case buying time on TV channels becomes too expensive. Chances are that TV channels will offer free time to EC for this exercise for reasons of public interest and building TRP ratings. Please sign this petition if you believe it will serve to bring better quality of leaders to the fore.

NOTA( None Of The Above) Option should be given more powers in Upcoming election
"NOTA" or 'None of the Above' has been provided as an option to the voters of India in most elections. Through the usage of NOTA, a citizen can choose not to vote for any candidates who are contesting the elections. However, NOTA in India does not guarantee dismissal of the winning candidate. Therefore, it’s only a method to give a negative feedback. NOTA does not hold any electoral value even if the maximum votes are for NOTA, the candidate with maximum vote share will still be the winner. The purpose and advantage of NOTA has been defeated as the winner will be the candidate who receives the second highest number of votes, even if NOTA receives the highest number of votes. Hence, "NOTA is a positive step", while "it does not go far enough". NOTA is considered a "waste of vote", "merely cosmetic", "a symbolic instrument to express resentment" , voters expressing their "disenchantment with the existing political system" and possibly "a mere decoration". Therefore NOTA must be given more powers. There should be some improvement in provisions, like :- 1. If NOTA receives the highest number of votes, re-elections should be held in that constituency 2. If the votes received by NOTA is higher than a certain percent, re-election to be held 3. When conducting re-elections, the NOTA button may be disabled to avoid a series of re-elections 4. Political parties that lose to NOTA to bear the cost of re-election 5. The candidates who lose to NOTA should not be allowed to contest elections for a defined period of time (for example, 6 years) 6. Candidates receiving votes less than NOTA to be disqualified to contest any election in future, even in constituencies where NOTA might not have got maximum votes 7. To conduct re-election, if the votes polled for NOTA is higher than the winning margin of votes.

Stop Family Dynasty Rule in India. Stop Family Rulers!!
Subject: Congress Internal Party election process are illegal and invalid Hon. Election CommissionerElection Commission of IndiaNirvachan Sadan, Ashoka Road, New Delhi -110001Phone : 011-23717391 Dear Honorable Election Commissioner, A few days back it was shown in news that congress party worker Shehzad Poonawalla's nomination for the Congress President position was not allowed. Now Shehzad has been shown as a non-congress party member though he held a senior position in the congress party a few days back. How is this sudden change possible? Please investigate the entire internal election process in Congress, if illegal then declare the congress elections as INVALID. It is well known that India is Democracy but our Political Parties are Dynasty. So it means India is a Dynasty, let us not fool ourselves. These few Dynasty Families have been ruling India in the disguise of Democracy. Indian Democracy is now going through it's 2nd Revolution. Imagine tomorrow the Captain of the Indian Team is selected because he is son of famous cricketer and not because he is skilled cricketer. Similarly tomorrow, Monday, 4 December 2017, Rahul Gandhi is being nominated because belongs to the GANDHI family and not for his skills. Also No other Nominations are being allowed or accepted. Today it is a sad to see the Congress being reduced to a party of private proprietorship of the Gandhi Surname. Does Congress belong to the people of this country? or to only the Gandhi Family? As India's oldest political party, CONGRESS should take the lead to make this important correction and give an opportunity for hard work, merit and ability. If Congress wants to take part in India Democracy then first it should bring in Democracy in its own political party. Rahul Gandhi's Answers in Berkley University USA, such as "Dynasty - is how India works" is no longer acceptable. Corrections and Good Changes have to happen in India and Congress should set an example. Shehzad Poonawalla's is a honest CONGRESS worker, his nomination should be accepted and Rahul Gandhi should fight free and fair internal Congress elections in a Democractic Manner Honorable Election Commissioner , Please investigate the internal Party election process of the CONGRESS PARTY and publish a white paper and then take action on it. Yours Faithful Indian Citizen, Arunkumar NairIndiaemail:email@example.com
