Petition to Gavin Newsom, Structural Pest Control Board

Allow Pest Control Companies to Perform Coronavirus Disinfection in California

Pest Control operators in California have been using a disinfectant known as DSV by Nisus when disinfecting and cleaning areas where biohazardous waste is present. Typically, this product is used when a pest professional is sanitizing an area where a rodent carcass once was. On March 13, 2020, the EPA listed DSV in their List N, determining that DSV is effective against SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19. Thousands of licensed Pest Control operators throughout California could be mobilized to perform large-scale disinfections in critical areas to protect the most vulnerable and help prevent the spread of COVID19. The Problem: The Structural Pest Control Board (SPCB) refuses to allow licensed pest control applicators temporary permission to perform disinfecting for the sake of disinfecting, not as a service related to vermin cleanup. The SPCB has made it clear that if any licensed pest control applicator performs disinfecting services, even as a free public service, without being tied specifically to vermin cleanup, the applicator and the company they work for risk being fined or losing their license to operate as a pest control business altogether. California has a force of thousands of trained, licensed, and experienced professionals that are equipped and ready to use proven, approved, and registered products to help fight the spread of COVID19, but the Structural Pest Control Board stands in the way. These are extraordinary times that require extraordinary measures to help reduce and minimize the effect of this health and economic crisis. We have a major fire, and a force of trained and skilled firefighters who are benched during our generations greatest world crisis by the bureaucracy of one agency. We have seen already in Seattle how bureaucracy failed to serve the public and prevent the spread. Let's not make that mistake in California. Sign to allow licensed pest control applicators to perform large-scale disinfections to help prevent the spread of COVID19. Sources: (DSV is registered under EPA number 10324-80 under the product name MAQUAT 5.5-M and marketed as DSV by Nisus.) Petition to VA Governor Ralph Northam

Tell VA Governor Ralph Northam we need more extreme measures against Coronavirus now!

Dear Governor Northam: We are counting you to take bold, immediate, and extreme action to contain the COVID-19 (the coronavirus) outbreak, even if you're the first governor in the United States to do so.  We appreciate what you’ve done so far, but it’s nowhere near enough.  We know from Italy and China that the number of cases multiplies by a factor of ten every week, absent extreme intervention. That means if we have 10,000 cases in the U.S. on March 12, we could have 100,000 by March 19, a million by March 26, and over 100 million by Easter. Such exponential growth in VA would lead to the collapse of our state’s healthcare system and hundreds of thousands of deaths.  We can't wait for the federal government to save us. You have to act now. You have tools that we know will work. It’s up to you whether we use them. China beat the Coronavirus by mandating extreme "social distancing" measures that limited contact among people in areas of active transmission.  As of March 11, China was almost completely free of COVID-19. We must replicate China's success. The scientists over at www.endcoronavirus.org have distilled the lessons from China and elsewhere into recommendations for policymakers. Governor Northam, we demand you take the following science-based steps now, before it is too late: 1. We are counting on you to radically scale up COVID-19 testing in VA. South Korea tests more people in a day for COVID-19 than the U.S. tests in a month. We can’t wait for the federal government to fix this. You must find a creative solution for the people of Virginia, even if means pissing off some bureaucrats in Washington. 2. Lock down communities with active transmission. Everyone except those providing essential services should stay home in areas with active transmission. Perform door to door searches (with personal protective equipment) for affected individuals. Restrict mobility in and out of these communities. 3. Encourage all Virginians to practice social distancing. Educate the public about the importance of avoiding social gatherings and staying home as much as possible. 4. Demand that all VA employers, including VA State Government, implement aggressive work from home policies to the extent possible. Also encourage businesses to maintain essential functions. 5. Dramatically scale up temporary hospital space. Convert public and private spaces into overflow medical spaces that can treat mild and moderate COVID-19 cases. Scale up ICU capacity ASAP. 6. Care for the most vulnerable. Monitor, and address the needs of the homeless and people in high density communities including nursing homes, retirement communities, dormitories, prisons and psychiatric institutions. 7. Stockpile essential medical resources now. Work with VA manufacturers to meet the shortfall in medical equipment we will likely face. ---- NEXT STEPS FOR VIRGINIANS: 1. Sign this petition and join the letter to Governor Northam. 2. Contact Governor Northam directly. It takes 30 seconds. Don’t underestimate the power of an email or tweet from a constituent.  You can copy and paste the eight points above or share a link to this petition -- www.change.org/StopCoronaVirusVA E-mail: https://www.governor.virginia.gov/constituent-services/communicating-with-the-governors-officeTwitter: https://twitter.com/GovernorVA Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GovernorVA Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/governorralphnortham For further science-based information on the Coronavirus and how we can stop it, visit www.endcoronavirus.org

Cancel Student Loans to Save the Economy.

Trillions could be added  into the economy with no new taxes, and nothing added to the national debt.       Retweet       Video The President is currently enacting economic stimulus measures in the face of impending recession.  He has no great options left. The Fed Funds Rate is essentially zero. Taxes on corporations and the wealthy have already been cut to the bone.  Suspending interest on student loans won’t hurt the economy, but won’t really help either.   Every conceivable stimulus measure, at this point, will add trillions to the national debt, or require an increase in taxes.  ...Except cancelling student loans. The President could issue an executive order cancelling all of the loans that the federal government holds. Nothing would be added to the national debt, and no tax appropriation would be needed. Make no mistake:  Even before the Covid-19 crisis, this was a FAILED lending system.  55 million borrowers and cosigners are struggling under $1.8 Trillion in debt (up from only $175 billion in 2000).  Over $100 Billion in interest alone is being sucked out of the economy every year.  The default rate for 2004 borrowers is 40%, and borrowing has tripled since that time.  According to the recently resigned Chief Operating Officer of the lending program, 80% of all borrowers will never be able to repay their loans. The result: Lives and livelihoods are being wrecked en masse.  Young people aren’t starting families or buying homes.  Older people are being forced to cash in their retirements. Most borrowers aren’t able to pay down their principal, or aren’t able to pay at all. People are fleeing the country.  Some are even committing suicide.    This is not right.  This was never right.  The President needs to push the reset button. Bureaucrats, lobbyists, and other defenders of the lending system in and around the Department of Education will surely protest loudly at such a move.  But 40 million citizens who are being crushed under the weight of this predatory, big-government lending behemoth will cheer, and the economy will flourish.  Some analysts have predicted that GDP would increase by about $100 billion for the next ten years, but they neglect the increased borrowing capacity that such a move would free up, which would be another $1 Trillion injected into the economy in the near and medium term.  Some experts even believe that debt cancellation is the only way to avoid a depression! Rest assured, the taxpayers will be fine.  The federal government has been profiting wildly on this lending system for ten years running. While no one can say with accuracy how much of the $1.5 Trillion in outstanding federal loans is interest vs. principal, it is likely that the former is significantly larger than the latter.  So on balance, the taxpayer should more-than break even on such a move.  When President Lyndon Johnson signed the Higher Education Act in 1965, he declared that student loans would be “free of interest”.  President Trump, himself, decried the fact that the government was making so much profit on these loans.  The President should create a far more efficient higher education financing system that doesn’t wreck the citizens, hyper-inflate the price of college, and enable a viciously predatory, big-government monstrosity such as what the Department of Education has become.  This is an historic opportunity for the President to cure a recession, drain the swamp, create a better higher education financing system, and strongly endear himself to tens of millions of voters who would otherwise have by-and-large opposed him this coming November.     WILL YOU HELP SPREAD THE WORD?  1.   Retweet this  2.   Post this link  where it will be seen.  3.   Boost it! 4.  Get This Video to the President.   Please take this seriously.  These are your loans, your problem.  Let's solve it together.
