Petition to UK Parliament, RSPCA, Boris Johnson MP

Change the law and get justice for cats attacked by dogs.

On the 22nd August 2019, my 11 year old cat was savagely attacked by a dog in our own garden in Rochdale, United Kingdom while she was sleeping on the doorstep, who’s owner was walking his dog allowed this dog to roam free without a lead after this dog was known to chase cats and attack them. He had no control over the dog and the cat had been asleep on the doorstep and the cat was dragged off the doorstep by the dog, all that’s on my mind now is how scared she must’ve been in her final moments. We as a family are very disturbed and distraught as we had to go and get the cat out of the bin that the owner of the dog had placed her in. The owner of the dog did not even tell us, we had found out by witnesses who seen the incident take place and described it as “upsetting” and described it as “she was being ragged around like a teddy”, if they had not have told us what happened, then where would we be now? All that would go through our heads is that she is lost and we would be unable to give her the burial she deserved. This incident was reported to Greater Manchester Police and we may as well have been told that they’re not going to do anything. Do you think it’s fair that a dog can savagely attack another dog and action be taken but cats who are loved EQUALLY to dogs cannot have anything done about it? I am calling for a change to the law to allow cat owners to take further action against dog owners who’s dogs brutally attack cats, we also want to change the law that cats are not classed as feral animals as they are loved by their owners. The definition of feral is “ in a wild state, especially after escape from captivity or domestication” how is this the case for a DOMESTICATED cat when they are owned and loved by people? Especially the fact that my cat was within the boundaries of my premises where she should feel safe to sleep and await our arrival home as she always did  RIP to our beloved Sparkle

Petition to Defra UK Government

#FernsLaw: Update the pet microchip system to reunite stolen and missing dogs & cats.

COMPULSORY TO MICROCHIP OUR DOGS BUT OPTIONAL TO SCAN AND CHECK MICROCHIP REGISTRATION.  Please sign this petition to close the loopholes preventing missing microchipped dogs and cats from getting home.  Stolen Fern was reunited after 6 years because she was picked up as a stray, on her own with no new owner present and her microchip was checked.  If Fern had been taken to the vet with an owner, she would still be missing.  We want ‘sold on’ and ‘kept by finding’ missing dogs and cats, who have a new keeper present, to have the same chance as a stray to get home.   Many missing pets are never reunited with their families because it’s left optional to scan and check microchip registration on the original database to make sure pet and keeper match. Best practice recommendations by the veterinary professionals, authorities and rescues to check microchip registration is devised to be misleading and is approved by Defra.  You only find out the truth when your pet has disappeared.  Updates needed to help missing microchipped pets get home:-  1. Scan and check dogs and cats microchip registration on original database at first veterinary practice appointment, before euthanasia and help make sure contact information is up to date.  This should be implemented across the industry as a Standard Operation Procedure.  2. One microchip number on one database, to prevent new identity being given to missing and stolen pets. 3. Databases must not change registration information without contacting the original keeper.  All databases should be working in unison to a Code Of Practice.   4. When a microchip is scanned the keeper must be contacted immediately by the database before the missing alert is removed. 5. Deceased and injured pets on roads and railways must be checked for a microchip. 6. Seized and hand-in pets must have their microchip registration checked by the authorities and rescues.  7. Immediate reunification if a pet is scanned and is registered as missing on original database. 8.  Defra must issue a warning about the bogus database operating as a UK Pet Registry Database which is taking money from innocent pet keepers, not realising that when their pets microchip is scanned the microchip will read as unregistered!  We have microchipped our pets with the expectation to be reunited if the worst happens and they are lost or stolen. If just one organisation is not committed to scan and check microchip registration the whole system fails and is not fit for purpose. We don’t believe that the Government should only take advice from the British Veterinary Association (BVA) and Rescues on this issue, as they are at the centre of this injustice and are protecting themselves first and not putting the welfare of the animals or their clients first. Every missing microchipped pets deserve the right to be reunited with their loving family. Please sign this petition for change. Thank you.  Pet theft rate climbs by 51 per cent in four years, sparking calls for new pet scanning laws: https://www.thesun.co.uk/money/9598216/call-new-pet-scanning-laws-beat-pet-thieves/ Dr. Daniel Allen ‘s Spatialities of Dog Theft: A Critical Perspective:- https://www.mdpi.com/2076-2615/9/5/209 Please note that a microchip is not proof of ownership and we are referred to as ‘keepers’ in the Compulsory Dog Microchipping Regulations, which also gives the new keeper the rights to change original registration on a database:- http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukdsi/2015/9780111125243 VetsGetScanning.co.uk Doglost.co.uk If you have a missing pet please add them on Doglost.co.uk, run by volunteers, all free, supported by police and animal wardens.  Missing pet groups supporting this petition:-  Stolen And Missing Pets Alliance, Doglost, Pet Theft Awareness, The Dog Union, Murph’s Army, Dog’s Today Magazine, Dog’s Monthly, Dog Tag, It’s All About The Animals, APDAWG, Missing Pets UK, Missing Dogs UK.  Please let us know if you would like your organisation added.  CONTACT YOUR MP: COPY AND PASTE AND SEND TO THEM

Petition to Heather Morris

Milos law

My loving family pet Milo was knocked down and killed on new years day the driver hit him and left him lying on road if they'd stopped he may have been able to get veterinary help n have a chance but obviously in today's so called caring community this driver didn't care they've ripped our family apart as Milo was huge part of it his brother is grieving which is hard to watch ,Milo was only year n half whole life ahead of him ,words cannot describe grief I feel,I want law to be changed to move with times road traffic act 1988 protects dogs cattle pigs etc but not cats who are UK's 2 Nd top pet, this is 2019 we need to move with time our laws are dated, 680 cats are killed daily on road,240000killed annually on UK roads yet we dismiss it n walk away that can't be right in today's society surely we are more caring than that ,Milos law would ensure a driver reports hitting cat as you would a dog I'm not looking for huge fines n jail sentences just acknowledgement for that animal if they stopped they might save lives if not then at least through reporting incident owner can be given closure and chance to say goodbyes surely that's not too much to ask, our nation spends a fortune on their pets does this not show that animals are big family members now,in some cases it might be someone's only companion, please help support Milos law it's small change to a dated law but would make a huge difference to thousands of pet owners
