Petition to Pfarrer Dr. Johannes Block

(Korean)

The city of Wittenberg contains a Judensau (Jew-Pig) from 1305, on the facade of the Stadkirche, the church where Martin Luther preached. It portrays a rabbi who looks under the sow's tail, and other Jews drinking from its teats. An inscription reads "Rabini Shem hamphoras," gibberish which presumably bastardises "shem ha-meforasch" ("The fully pronounced Name [of God]). The sculpture is one of many still remaining in Germany. In Vom Schem Hamphoras (1543), Luther comments on the Judensau sculpture at Wittenberg, echoing the antisemitism of the image and locating the Talmud in the sow's bowels: 폼 쉠 함포라스 (Vom Schem Hamphoras, 1543년)에서, 루터는 반유대주의를 부추키며, 탈무드를 암퇘지의 엉덩이에 비유하여 비텐버그의 유대인-돼지 형상에 대해 다음과 같이 언급한다. “Here on our church in Wittenberg a sow is sculpted in stone. Young pigs and Jews lie suckling under her. Behind the sow a rabbi is bent over the sow, lifting up her right leg, holding her tail high and looking intensely under her tail and into her Talmud, as though he were reading something acute or extraordinary, which is certainly where they get their Shemhamphoras." The sculpture continues to cause offence and defame Jewish people and their faith. It needs to be removed to another location so it is not publicly displayed on the external wall of the church, and properly housed and explained elsewhere. Otherwise Jewish people continue to experience the antisemitic power of such an abusive image, and their worst fears about the nature of the Christian faith are confirmed. If the Church is truly repentant over such images, it must take steps to remove them from such prominent display. Not only is the sculpture an insult to Jewish people, but it offends common decency by its lewd portrayal of Jews suckling a pig and putting a hand up its rump. It also is an affront to a place of Christian worship which should be decorated with dignity and decorum, not obscenity and shocking anti-semitic images. 이 조형물은 유대인들에게 모욕이 될 뿐만 아니라, 유대인들이 돼지의 젖을 먹고 그 엉덩이에 손을 대는 것같이 음란하게 묘사함으로 상식적인 예의에도 어긋난다. 이것은 또한 음란하고 충격적인 반유대적 형상이 아닌, 위엄과 예의로 장식되어야 할 기독교 예배 장소에 대한 모욕이다. The Wittenberg Judensau continues to offend as a powerful and vivid portrayal of hate speech and antisemitism. The attempt to address this by placing an explanation and commemorative plaque beneath the sculpture in 1988 by sculptor Wieland Schmiedel beneath it is insufficient.  The explanation states: “The true name of God, the maligned Chem Ha Mphoras which Jews long before Christianity regarded as almost unutterably holy, this name died with six million Jews, under the sign of the Cross.” We appreciate the fact that the church decided to do something to explain and express regret, but do not believe God died in the Holocaust, and this is again an improper use of the name of God. 우리는 교회가 무언가 설명하려고 하고 유감을 표현하려고 결정했다는 사실엔 감사하지만, 하나님께서 홀로코스트에 운명하셨다는 것을 믿지 않고, 이것은 다시 하나님의 이름에 대한 잘못된 사용이다. In 2017, the 500th anniversary of Luther's launching of the Protestant Reformation, it is time to remove this statue and replace it with something more honouring to the God of Israel, respectful of the Jewish people, and bringing dignity to a Christian place of worship instead of retaining a sculpture that is unseemly, obscene, insulting, offensive, defamatory, libellous, blasphemous, anti-semitic and inflammatory. 2017년, 루터의 개신교 개혁 원년의 500주년에, 부당하고, 음탕하고, 모욕적이고, 공격적이고, 중상적이고, 명예훼손적이고, 신성모독적이고, 반유대적이고, 선동적인 조형물을 유지하는 대신에, 이스라엘의 하나님께 좀더 영예롭고, 유대인들에 정중하고, 기독교 경배 장소에 품위를 가져 오기 위해 이 조형물을 제거할 때인 것 같다. Petition to Martin Ivens and Frank Fitzgibbon, Martin Ivens, Frank Fitzgibbon

Kevin Myers Is Innocent OK - Give Him His Job Back!

Kevin Myers was dismissed from his position as a columnist on the Sunday Times for supposed antisemitism. But what he wrote was NOT antisemitic. It was surprising, idiosyncratic, left-field, eye-catching .... and more ...but NOT antisemitic.Myers wrote: "I note that two of the best-paid women presenters in the BBC — Claudia Winkleman and Vanessa Feltz, with whose, no doubt, sterling work I am tragically unacquainted — are Jewish. Good for them. Jews are not generally noted for their insistence on selling their talent for the lowest possible price, which is the most useful measure there is of inveterate, lost-with-all-hands stupidity. I wonder, who are their agents? If they’re the same ones that negotiated the pay for the women on the lower scales, then maybe the latter have found their true value in the marketplace."Myers effectively said that Jewish people tend not to undersell themselves.  It was a compliment! ("Good for them").  He followed up by saying that if other lesser-paid female BBC presenters used the same agents as these two, then those ladies have no cause for complaint since it can be assumed that those agents got them the best possible deal. It's a convoluted, idiosyncratic argument - but it's not antisemitic.  In particular Myers DIDN'T say (as has been widely alleged, including by Emma Barnett on BBC Radio 5) that Ms Feltz and Ms Winkleman earn high salaries because they are Jewish! As a Jew (I never thought I would write those words) and a seasoned campaigner against antisemitism, I also have a responsibility to challenge false accusations of antisemitism. The Israel bashers delight in repeating the hackneyed falsehood (the 'Livingstone Formulation') that Israel's supporters use the charge of anti-Semitism falsely, to stifle criticism of Israel. Well - here is one genuinely false charge of anti-Semitism. There is a particular responsibility to call out this case as false, since (1) no-one who is not Jewish is going to openly challenge it (for obvious reasons); (2) because the false charge has cost Myers his livelihood and (3) because Myers is pro-Israel which no doubt added to the condemnation of the column. In particular the Chairman of the Press Council of Ireland was absolutely wrong to pre-judge complaints by declaring that the column violated the Council's Code of Conduct. He must now recuse himself from the Council's investigation. The rush to unthinkingly condemn Myers has been very disappointing. Why can we not accept a compliment in the spirit in which it was given? Why do we have to find innuendoes where none are intended? Why do we have to condemn someone not for what they say - but for how an antisemite might twist it? Kevin Myers Is Innocent - OK!He has suffered an injustice and it must quickly be put right.....You can find out more by reading my blog here.Highly recommended is this impassioned interview on Irish radio of Seth Barrett Tillman, a Jewish law academic in Ireland (Maynooth University - speaking - as he says - in a personal capacity). You can listen to it by clicking on this link:And here is David Quinn:David is a social and religious commentator who contributes weekly columns to The Irish Catholic and Irish Independent. He is the director of the Iona Institute.

Petition to House of Lords Commissioner for Standards

Expel Baroness Tonge from the House of Lords

Baroness Tonge delights in baiting Jews...............She has said that Israel causes antisemitism; has proposed that the IDF and the Israeli Medical Association establish an inquiry into antisemitic allegations that an emergency Israeli medical team in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake was stealing body parts;  and has said that "Israel is not going to be there forever in its present form."Most recently Baroness Tonge chaired a meeting in Parliament where attendees compared Israel to ISIS and claimed Jews ‘provoked’ their own genocide.  She failed to speak out against this antisemitic libel. Baroness Tonge abuses her privileged position in the House of Lords to harass Jewish people. A position for which she is paid £300 per day attendance allowance, plus travel expenses and subsidised restaurant facilities. It is intolerable that Baroness Tonge should remain a member of the House of Lords. Only the House itself has the power to expel a member. This can only happen by a vote, after the Lords Commissioner for Standards has found a member in breach of the Code of Conduct, that finding of breach is upheld by the Committee for Privileges and Conduct, and that Committee has recommended expulsion.Baroness Tonge is currently under investigation by the Commissioner for allegedly breaking the rules on the use of House facilities. However this is a relatively minor offence and is not likely to result in suspension, let alone expulsion.  Most recently she posted an antisemitic article on her Facebook page which falsely claims that the President of Israel made antisemitic Jew/Nazi comparisons.  However the Commissioner has refused to investigate this, saying that the Code of Conduct "does not extend to members’ performance of duties unrelated to parliamentary proceedings; and it is outside my remit to consider complaints about members’ expression of views or opinions. I interpret that as covering members’ posts on social media.”The very last straw was Baroness Tonge's email to the Community Security Trust  on 2 February, in response to being sent the 2016 Antisemitic Incidents Report. She wrote: "Do you NEVER consider that the actions of the Israeli government are contributing towards this rise? Sadly, many people do not distinguish between Jewish people and Mr Netanyahu and his colleagues. If CST and the Board of Deputies spoke up against the abuse if [sic] human rights, flagrant disregard for International law and the Geneva Convention they would do much to improve the situation there. The perpetual victim mentality of your organisation is counter productive and does not help real decent Jewish people. We want a country free of all racism."Never before has anyone managed to pack so many offences against the Jewish People into less than 100 words: 1. The allegation that Israel causes antisemitism;  2. The allegation that the Prime Minister of Israel is not Jewish! 3. The suggestion that Jews in the UK should condemn the [non-existent] 'abuse of human rights', [non-existent] 'disregard of international law and the Geneva Convention'; 4. The suggestion that if they do not condemn these things, they will be adding to antisemitism; 5. The allegation that the CST - the organisation that protects Jews - has a 'victim mentality' and does not help 'real decent Jewish people'. Enough is enough.  Baroness Tonge has been expelled from the Liberal Democrat Party, so that if there ever was any Party discipline that kept her from the most outrageous offences against Jews, it has vanished. She is nearly 76 years old so still has many years of opportunity to pour further vitriol upon Israel and Jews.We therefore call upon the Standards Commissioner to rule that Baroness Tonge is in breach of the requirement to act on personal honour. We refute the Commissioner's claim that her activities outside the Chamber are unrelated to Parliamentary business; Baroness Tonge's activities in the Lords includes many speeches and questions about the Middle East. In any case if a member is using their position to abuse a minority, we consider it shameful that the Commissioner - and indeed the whole House - should stand idly by. It makes a mockery of Parliament's declarations to fight antisemitism. After the Commissioner finds Baroness Tonge in breach of the requirement to act on personal honour, we call on the Committee for Privileges and Conduct (whose Chair is Lord McFall) to uphold the finding and recommend expulsion. Finally - we call on the House to vote for Baroness Tonge's expulsion.

Petition to Professor Julia Black

LSE Alumni and Donors Say "No To Antisemitism at LSE!"

On 20 March Richard Falk was invited by Mary Kaldor to speak at LSE. Falk is a disgraced ex-UN official who was denounced by the United Kingdom on at least three separate occasions for antisemitism. Completely predictably the meeting was a feeding frenzy for antisemites and descended into chaos. Two silent protesters were ejected and a well-known antisemite shouted “’Raus” as they left the room. He then turned around to the Jewish students at the back of the room and said, “being chucked out for causing trouble, just like you were in Germany." He was also heard recommending the works of disgraced historian David Irving, who in 2000 was proven in court to be an antisemite, a Holocaust denier and an admirer of Hitler. It is also reported that Atzmon later said, “Jews are always expelled for a reason.” are alumni and/or donors to LSE. We will not donate until there is an apology from the Director, an undertaking that the School will adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism and a commitment that the School will not invite external speakers with a history of antisemitism.
