Save Macau’s Image, Save Greyhounds

Honorable Chui Sai On,
Chief Executive,
Macau SAR GovernmentHonorable Leong Vai Tac
, Secretary for Economy and Finance,
Macau SAR Government Please save the greyhounds and save the public image of Macau. The Canidrome of Macau is sadly known in the whole world as a place of death, where no greyhound gets out alive. Even now, when the Canidrome is due to close by 2018, the dogs are still continuing to live in shameful conditions and to die without hope. We hope that the public image that Macau would like to show the world is much better than an image of greyhounds caged, incinerated, or worse still destined for a horrific death, slaughtered and consumed as meat in some horrendous dog meat festival in China. For what fate awaits the greyhounds in the Canidrome? How many of them will be alive when it closes? What will happen to the survivors? These are worrying questions, and the answers that are given will undoubtedly have an effect on how Macau is perceived and consequently on its touristic development. We therefore ask that the Canidrome be closed as quickly as possible and that the greyhounds be handed over to the care of ANIMA Macau, so that their safety is assured and adoptive families can be found for them. Merci.  Christine A. Honorable Leong Vai Tac, Secretary for Economy and Finance, Macau SAR Government Bitte retten Sie die Windhunde und damit das öffentliche Ansehen Macaus. Vielen Dank. Christine A. Dorchak, Esq.

Petition to Tribunale del Riesame di Trento

FreeMiro

Grazie Eva Munter   English version: Man and dogs are together since the beginning.I could tell millions of stories about this ancient bond, starting with Argo waiting Ulisse for twenty years, being the only one to recognize him and dying only after say goodbye to his friend one last time. The story of Fido, of Hachiko, of Greyfriars Bobby and the story of Shep, emblems of stainless fidelity and affection. The story between humanity and dogs is 15.000 years old, but dogs keep teaching us something every day. It's not just about unconditioned love, it's a special relationship, one that should always remind us the best part of ourselves. So many stories, I'll try to tell mine.On march 22 Miro, my dog, has been taken by the police, confiscated and brought to a doghouse because one of my neighbours was complaining about the barking. Miro is a three years old Maremma shepard, living in Roverè della Luna - a small village near Trento, Italy - in an house with a courtyard and a garden. It took only one person lying and declaring that the dog barks all day long to start this absurd situation, despite all the other neighbours never complaint about any noise, even with the windows open. This person has call the police over and over, every time the police had come and every time time the police stated that the dog wasn't barking. Despite this two legal actions had been brought on us and we are currently on trial against this person that has stated he can't sleep because of the dog. And that is just ridiculous because during the night the dog sleeps in the house. Now Miro is locked in a small space, without his family and far away from the ones who loves him. This, according to the Court was a preventive action to prevent any further damage to the health of the neighbour that is persecuting us and our dog. To free our dog we have to wait trial, but it will take a long, long time.Miro can't stay locked away.Miro is part of our family. It is loved, protected and happy. He has a home and a big garden where he can run and play. Miro has been taken from us like an object and not a living creature with feelings and emotions. It has never happened before. If a dog is taken away is to protect the dog from bad or violent owners. The only effect of this situation is to damage Miro and make us suffer. I ask, please, to suspend the confiscation order and let us face the upcoming trial side to side with our dog, which has been in the crosshair of this neighbour for three years. Thank you. Close Taiji, the bay of death #StopDolphinsSlaughter

SLAUGHTERED  FOR FOOD, CAPTURED AND SOLD FOR LIVE SHOWS: THIS IS THE AWFUL DESTINY RESERVED EVERY YEAR TO HUNDREDS OF DOLPHINS AND OTHER CETACEANS IN THE BAY OF TAIJI   The terrifying slaughter of thousands of dolphins and other small cetaceans in the bay of death, in Taiji, a small city in the south of Japan, does not stop. The massacre lasts six months, from September to March. The dolphins are herded into the narrow cove, by the noise caused by hundreds of boats, falling into a trap. This sad and bloody "tradition", as Japanese define it, begins and the waters become increasingly blood red and these wonderful creatures are slaughtered for human consumption or captured for sale and to enrich the business of marine parks and dolphinaria. within which they will live in captivity. Since 2003, to keep the video cameras away, the bay is defended like a military site with tunnels, armed guards and barbed wire fences. But the barrier of silence and cover-up has broken and even in Japan, more and more people are against this slaughter. A few years ago, a documentary entitled "The Cove" - which made the world aware of what was happening in Taiji - highlighted also the risk to humans. It denounced actually that the presence of mercury levels, in the meat of dolphins captured in the bay, reaches levels 20 times higher than those recommended by the World Health Organization. The fundamentalists of this tradition reacted with anger; but a large part of Japanese public opinion demanded that protection and respect for nature and all forms of life became shared values, capable of generating an harmonious development of the whole community. Many evoke what happened in the bay of Minamata, in Japan, where hundreds of fishermen were poisoned by fishes saturated of  the mercury discharged into the sea from a factory. Join all people like us, not tied to these unsustainable traditions that can and must be abandoned forever. In the spirit of the Washington Convention of 1946 on the protection of marine cetaceans and mammals, the principles of environmental sustainability and the respect for protected living marine resources, we strongly urge the Japanese Authorities: Support Marevivo to CLOSE TAIJI, Stop dolphins slaughter
