Petition to AWL Board
Urgently re-open the Ingleside animal shelter
There is a desperate need for the Ingleside animal shelter to be reopened to provide facilities for stray, lost, abandoned or surrendered animals. Due to its location, the facility also has access to one of the best markets for re-homing and an income stream from boarding. The Animal Welfare League (AWL) NSW recently permanently closed the relatively new million dollar state-of-the-art facility without consultation or transparency to the community who funded it through fundraising and bequests. The land is worth several million dollars and given the costs of the Sydney property market, the opportunity to acquire such an asset in the future will be near impossible. NOTE: Updates will be posted to this Facebook page http://bit.ly/1sVtYZa We the petitioners, hereby petition the Board of the AWL NSW, currently consisting of GLYNIS BOOBYER NARELLE COCKS JEANETTE EMANUEL DAVID HOPE AUDREY MCGEOWN CHRISTINE RICHARDSON JOANNE RIGHETTI SHAWN SKYRING ANNETTE TOMLINSON as follows: To take all necessary steps to re-open the shelter. To publicly explain details of the compliance issues relating to waste water management and building codes which caused the shelter to close down, and why the shelter cannot be reopened. Disclose and make public any proposed sale or redevelopment of the Ingleside shelter site. You can read more about the shelter here http://savingpets.com.au/blog/animal-welfare-league-nsw-ingleside-shelter-closure

End Pig Cruelty in New Zealand
Right now, thousands of mother pigs in New Zealand are being kept in 'farrowing crates'. A farrowing crate is a metal cage used in factory farming to confine a female breeding pig (sow) just prior to, and after she has given birth to her piglets. These crates are so small, she cannot even turn around. Most sows in New Zealand are kept in farrowing crates for four to five weeks at a time, two to three times a year. The life of a sow kept in a farrowing crate is deeply traumatic. The crates do not provide for the behavioural welfare of sows when giving birth and nursing their piglets. A mother pig can only stand up and lie down in a farrowing crate. With no straw for bedding, she scrapes her nose over the cold, bare floor in an attempt to build a nest for her piglets. Her inability to properly mother her piglets only adds further to her frustration. Her piglets are taken away at just a few weeks of age. The grieving sow is impregnated again almost immediately, and kept in a small pen, to be returned to the crate five days before giving birth. Here the cycle of abuse begins again. Banning farrowing crates will help end this mistreatment of pigs. You can help achieve this goal by signing the petition.

STOP lamb slaughter for the Edendale farm Home Harvest festival!
We oppose the painful killing of innocent young lambs at the Home Harvest FEASTival family event at Edendale Farm! These are the reasons; 1. It teaches and advocates that murder of a sentient being is normal. 2. It teaches and advocates that eating unhealthily is acceptable, when studies prove lambs flesh is transformed into molecules which harden and narrow the arteries. 3. It teaches and advocates that use of animal agriculture is sustainable by manipulating the public to believe if its local and farmed in traditional ways then it is ok, when in fact the environmental consequences are the opposite and were there no farmed animals on that land, it could be rehabilitated into bushland which reduces land degradation and and prevent the loss of Australia's biodiversity. This is what it says on their event page; ~ Lamb is on the menu! As part of our aim to showcase local food we will have some truly local lamb raised at Edendale. The philosophy behind Home Harvest includes utilising local produce raised in a sustainable way and, for the omnivore, this includes meat. Edendale lamb is bred and grown on the farm. Sustainable methods of farming that include low stocking rates, composted manures to improve pastures, rotational grazing patterns as well as low use of external inputs make Edendale lamb the perfect meat choice for this year’s feast. The lamb dish will be cooked and served in a different area to the vegetarian dishes. We ultimately oppose this lamb slaughter because " If we could live happy and healthy lives without harming others...why wouldn't we" - Edgars Mission. ;
Petition to Julie Bishop, INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE
StopTaiji dolphin slaughter
The World Association for Zoos and Aquarium is the world's largest network of zoos and aquariums around the world. Some members of the international aquarium and zoo industry are strongly connected to the Japanese dolphin slaughter, in that they pay top dollar for dolphins deemed suitable for commercial exploitation in dolphin shows and captive dolphin swim programs. In Taiji, live dolphins have been sold for as much as $150,000. Many whales are slaughtered for food that the people of Taiji and surrounding places dont even eat. The dolphin massacres in Japan will continue for as long as members of the international dolphin display industry reward the captors with thousands of dollars for animals that are deemed suitable for commercial exploitation in captivity. Many of the protesters that are over in Taiji right now cop alot from certain nameless groups. Some of the Taiji supporters follow the protesters around daily with cameras to ensure that they dont break any laws or interfere with the slaughter and capture of these beautiful creatures. If they so much as step on a flower they will sent back to their country. THEY NEED OUR HELP If the international court of justice bans this disgusting practice as they did with the banning of whaling in Antarctica, these beautiful creatures might have a fighting chance.

We the undersigned wish to see Streaky Bay Council laws on Volunteer Cat Traps change.
At the moment Volunteer Cat Trapping is welcomed by the Council as Feral Cats have been a problem for this town. Unfortunately though, not everyone seems to be doing the right thing as suggested by Council & many Pet Cats are mysteriously disappearing. The Council laws needs to be looked at, so that owners of Pet Cats are protected.
Petition to Jeremy Rockliff, Matthew Groom
STOP Government Sanctioned WOMBAT CULLING
The Honourable Jeremy Rockliff We are asking you to please "Stop the Wombat Cull". During such a perilous time for the future of the species, the culling of healthy wombats causes far more problems than it solves. As you are already aware, hundreds of wombats are dying an excruciating death from sarcoptic mange and in many regions of Tasmania the wombats are now gone. Volunteers are fighting to save wombats afflicted with this insidious disease with effective treatments but it is soul destroying that healthy wombats are being shot unnecessarily while we try to save the species. These beautiful creatures have such a slow breeding cycle that to issue licences to cull them places them in grave danger of being completely wiped out. We are asking you, no we are begging you on behalf of one of the most loved native animals in the country to stop the issue of licences to cull wombats. We are sure that like us you don’t want to tell your children and your grandchildren that you once had the power to protect and save a species but chose instead to allow this to happen on your watch. Thank you for taking the time to listen, please act before it is too late, the fate of our wombats lies in your hands. Wombat Warriors Like the Wombat Warriors Facebook Page

Keep Farm Animal Rescue Open for Visitors
Farm Animal Rescue is a registered charity and sanctuary for animals that have been rescued from starvation, danger and abuse. The Queensland Government has made the decision to ban visitors from Farm Animal Rescue unless we spend $300,000 adding an additional lane to Dayboro Road, a highway managed by Queensland Transport and Main Roads. Our supporters donate to the charity to help animals, not so that we can improve the states' highway infrastructure. Regardless of this, we don't have $300,000 to spend. In fact this is much more than we make from donations and contributions each year. The Queensland Government are requiring this action because of "safety". On average we have one visitor vehicle arrive at the farm each day. This is opposed to some of our neighbours who receive up to 400 visitor vehicles per day, including heavy vehicles, and do not have an additional lane on the highway outside their premises. In fact we have been told that even with zero increased visitor volume, we would be required to carry out construction of the highway just to be able to avoid a visitor ban. While we have total confidence in our current supporters staying with us, it is not feasible for us to maintain the sanctuary if we are forced to tell new supporters that they cannot see our work. Our financial projections show that ultimately this requirement will cause the sanctuary to close. We ask that Jackie Trad, Deputy Premier and Minister for Transport and Planning, instruct her team to find a way that we can maintain some visitor access to the sanctuary without the need to develop the State's highway infrastructure. Thank you for your support. We have one week to turn this around, please sign this petition now and share it with your friends.
