Petition to Sophia Gilreath
abortions allowed for rape victims
I understand everyone has an opinion on this very controversial topic but not even allowing the choice to an assault victim as myself is ridiculous. I was assaulted at the age of ten, a little girl who had no idea why i was being touched. i was almost raped, and the fact people are going “pro life” to these victims is ridiculous. This treatment is inhumane to little children and adults that have undergo nine horrific months of pain just to give birth to an attackers child. this can be a constant reminder of the traumatic event. why should we let this happen? why are people deciding this when not many know how painful this can be? this goes for men who have been raped they should not have to support a child when they had no say! why should a women, a girl, a man or a boy not be able to have a say in what happens to their bodies or what they have been forced to do! we should legalize abortions for the Exception only of those rape and Assaulted victims. this is not just about abortion but for equality of men and women.
Petition to GOVERNOR CUOMO, New York Senate
Protect the unborn
This past January marked the forty-sixth anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court Case responsible for the legalization of abortion. The outrageous number of abortions performed each year reflects how our society fails to recognize each person's value, whether they are out of the womb or not. The overwhelming push to keep abortion legal is frightening. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), in 2016, approximately 892,000 abortions were performed in the United States alone. In 2017, that number dropped to 879,000. Though the slight decrease can be seen as a step in the right direction, the statistics are nevertheless alarming. In New York, the Reproductive Health Act was recently passed, legalizing abortion in the state past twenty-four weeks. By then, the fetus is the size of an ear of corn; his senses have developed, his bones have started forming, his heart has started beating, and he has begun kicking. Governor Cuomo, a self-proclaimed champion for women's rights, dubbed the recent law a victory for the state. These statements, however, do not reflect the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, the institution he claims to be a part of. Governor Cuomo must stand up for the unborn; protect those who can not protect themselves. We urge the people of New York to push for legislation that would outlaw abortion.
