Petition to UK Parliament, Kit Malthouse MP, James Brokenshire, MP

Save homeowners from financial ruin. Ensure the right parties pay in the Cladding Scandal.

As a young couple in London, we were so excited when we managed to achieve our dream, and get on the property ladder in 2015. Fast forward to 2018, and our dream has turned into a nightmare. In January, we learned our building is covered in ACM cladding, similar to that on Grenfell Tower, where 71 people died in a tragic fire. Our home, we soon understood, could go up in flames just as quickly. What’s more, in order to make it safe, we were being asked to pay for the removal and replacement of the dangerous cladding, at a cost of nearly £40,000 per flat. Cladding that had been chosen and implemented by building owners and developers. It’s hard to know what to worry about more - the risk to our lives, or the financial ruin we face to fix it.We are not alone. Across the country, nearly 300 tower blocks are affected, and thousands of real people face bankruptcy. The Government have said they believe building owners and developers have a moral responsibility to ‘do the right thing’ and cover the costs of their mistakes. But they are being ignored by developers such as Durkan and Lendlease UK. We urge Secretary of State James Brokenshire, the Housing Minister Kit Malthouse and their Government teams to enforce this and take innocent leaseholders out of the financial firing line. We ask you to support this petition to help us achieve this - because we firmly believe that Leaseholders deserve to live without fear of sacrificing their financial futures just to sleep safe at home every night.

Rivonia Homeowners - Protect Your Rights!

The recent announcement by the City of Johannesburg and Joshco of the building of a 10 story, 1000+ apartment development on the Corner of Wessels and 12th Roads in Edenburg, Rivonia has been done without consultation with the community, its home owners and rate payers. This development is the start of a city wide deployment of similar projects which is part of Joshco's mission to provide, "quality, resource efficient, economically sustainable and affordable housing products," to their customers. The community of Edenburg and Rivonia recognise that Johannesburg is an evolving city and do not oppose densification and Joshco's mission in principle.   However the COJ's densification policy is highly complex and opaque, and suburban communities have not been properly consulted despite the impact these developments will have on their property values, and the additional strain created on an already overburdened water, sewage and road infrastructure, as well as schools and the healthcare system.  Unfortunately the political structures and their representatives have failed us and seem powerless, unwilling or unable to stop any activity that is detrimental to their constituents.   This announcement is positioned as a fait accompli, but as a community we cannot stand by and allow the City, to whom we pay ever increasing rates, to ride roughshod over our rights, without proper consultation.   If this development is allowed to proceed without due process it will allow the City of Joburg to expand on their densification policy without recourse. We, the community of Rivonia and surrounding suburbs thus petition the Democratic Alliance Ward representation, the City of Johannesburg, Joshco, and all other relevant organisations to cease any further plans or activity with regards the aforementioned development until  - City and Ward representatives have addressed and consulted with the community.  - Come to a resolution with the Rivonia residents about this and future developments in the area that is in the best interests of all Parties concerned.

Petition to City of Clarksville, Tennessee

    Let Clarksville Homeowners Keep Honeybees!

European Honey bees are generally gentle in nature and play a vital role of pollination in both rural and urban ecosystems. They are an important pollinator for native and cultivated plants. Honey bees play a crucial role in the production of food for humans, livestock and wildlife. Roughly one third of what we eat is pollinated by bees. According to research conducted in the State of Florida, European Honey bees will naturally colonize an area with up to two large gentle colonies per acre where Africanized Honey bees can colonize an area with up to 200 small aggressive colonies per acre. Having managed European Honey bee colonies in an urban area will help keep Africanized Honey bee numbers at a minimum due to competition for nectar and pollen resources. The Apiary Section of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture's Regulation Services Division has a well written Voluntary Honey Bee Best Management Practices (BMP) Policy that has been developed by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s Apiary Technical Advisory Committee at the request of the Tennessee Municipal League and the Tennessee beekeepers to provide guidelines for beekeepers maintaining honey bees in urban areas. These BMP’s help ensure that beekeepers are keeping their managed colonies of European Honey bees in a safe and responsible manner. The BMPs regulate the amount of hives one can own based on individual lot size and lay out guidelines for placement of hives that are considerate of safety and neighbors. Unfortunately, the City of Clarksville views honeybees as livestock. This places excessive limitations and subjects them to zoning laws which would require hives to be 200 feet from every property line. Most in-city lots are not large enough to accommodate this requirement. We want the City of Clarksville to follow The Voluntary Honey Bee Best Management Practices Policy instead of zoning laws made for livestock. Cows, and bees should not be lumped together and subject to the same requirements. Back yard beekeeping is a sustainable way to keep and help the honeybees. We believe having an ordinance that specifically allows backyard beekeepers to keep honeybees in areas zoned residential is critically important to the survival of the European honeybee. At this time, one beekeeper in Clarksville, Elizabeth Hood, has been cited with a violation notice for having honeybees on her R2 property, located within in a residential neighborhood. The Zoning Board of Appeals, County Commissioners, and the Planning and Development Director of the Montgomery County Planning and Zoning Department now have the power to make a determination as to whether or not being a backyard beekeeper in a residential area will be permitted. Their determination will affect most of the backyard beekeepers, and their honeybees, in Clarksville."Considering the plight of the honeybee, and the benefits they provide, we believe it should not be made more difficult or even illegal to keep honeybees in your backyard. Please allow Elizabeth Hood to keep her bees on her property and change the Zoning Ordinance to allow for backyard beekeeping in residential properties throughout the City of Clarksville.

Petition to Zionsville Leadership, Planning board, Mayor, Town Council, Zionsville Homeowners

    Protect Zionsville Homeowners

This petition is in opposition of the development  or rezoning from AG to light industrial development on or next too residential properties in Zionsville Indiana. Specifically, the development of any warehousing or storage industrial structure  between Saratoga Subdivision and S300 E. Zionsville development board in conjunction with the Zionsville town council has already approved a million square foot warehouse along the Western boarder of Saratoga residential homes which has caused well water issues, overall home value decline, noise and light issues, road congestion, well water contamination, and overall rural environment destruction.  It has also set a standard to develop light industrial on top of Zionsville Custom home subdivisions.  That means developers will be coming to a cornfield near you with the approved Zionsville standard of developing  five story cement structure with a hundred and eighty truck bay door facing your home front or back door.  STOP this predatory development by Zionsville before it destroys its first residential community. It will come to you next.
