Medical marijuana is becoming a major option for suffering Missouri residents to cope with a wide range of issues. While many establishments still offer tobacco smoking and alcohol consumption - you can imagine the resistance to allowing cannabis to be consumed in like environments and businesses. Joplin needs to adapt an ordinance to allow Joplin businesses to decide for themselves if medical cannabis users can partake in smoking/eating/consuming their legally possessed and prescribed medicine.
Most Joplin businesses, minus grandfathered businesses and bars, do not allow tobacco smoking inside. This reason is due to health issues proven from tobacco smoke, inhaling tobacco smoke, and additives found in smoking tobacco. Respectfully, the law is implemented to protect the health of non-smokers, and prevent the effects of second hand smoking. Cannabis is an entire different plant - and should be considered something entirely different.
Opening up the idea of businesses allowing medical marijuana patients, who possess a valid State issued card, and their medicine, is huge. Such an opportunity will stimulate a new market for Missouri, brand new business opportunities for local entrepreneurs, and the possibilities for undeveloped sectors of business to flourish. Together, we unite as citizens to better our city, better our homes, and better our community. Accepting medicinal cannabis is a MAJOR first step to positive progressive changes.
