Petition to Welsh Government, Public Health Wales

Keep cervical screening to 3 years and not extended to 5 years.

From 1 January 2022, if you are aged 25-49, the gap between routine tests has now changed from 3 to 5 years, meaning an additional 2 years between cervical screening and potentially seeing further deaths from cervical cancer! On average 3197 cases of cervical cancer are discovered each year with 854 deaths between 2016-2018, with only 51% surviving this type of cancer for more than 10 years. 99.8% of cervical cancer cases are preventable (according to cancer research UK).  INCREASING THE LENGTH OF TIME BETWEEN CERVICAL SCREENING IS PUTTING LIVES AT RISK!

Open Special Needs Schools for Extended School Year

We are currently faced with extenuating circumstances that we never thought would happen in our lifetime.  We are forced to stay home and stay well, and in turn, our special needs children are regressing in front of our eyes.  If your child is anything like mine, they thrive on routine and hands on learning.  While our schools and teachers are trying their best, remote learning is in no way helpful to children with special needs. Unlike typical children, most special needs children either have processing disorders, are non-verbal, unable to focus, and some, if not most, are physically unable to participate in therapies, or all of the above. My 3 year old son has a 1:1 aide in a 10:1:3 special needs classroom.  He, like many other of his peers, need constant prompts and reminding to get through an activity, along with safety measures in place to not hurt himself when frustrated when transitioning through activities.  It is nearly impossible to learn this way for him.  It is a constant battle everyday that I gave up logging in anymore. A lot of children in his school are unable to walk and their parents are not able to physically do the activities that would benefit them most during Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy.  To no fault of their own, they are not trained to do these activities or physically able to.  Speech sessions that require face-to-face in person with prompts gently on a child's face are not done at home as they need to be done at a specific time. Speech Therapists are key to helping our children have a voice. We are not trained to do this either.   Although we as parents have to learn quickly and become teachers, speech therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, we are really doing a huge disservice to our children.  Precious time is being lost during this crucial and detrimental days of development that can very well negatively impact the future of our children. These are times that we are never able to get back.  Although we all appreciate the teachers and therapists efforts, this is not benefiting our children, and for special needs children, the only option left is too swiftly and safely open Special Needs Schools

Extended NSFAS allowances for uj students

Most universities were able to finish their academic year early. It is however unfair that they will not receive an allowance. This is because other universities were not learning during lockdown yet they were still receiving their allowances. Their allowances were supposed to be withdrawn for the duration of the period that they were not studying to make this fair on all students across South Africa.

Petition to Immigration Department of Australia and Australian Immigration minister

Visas for ADF interpreters and families - their lives are at huge risk

They served the Australian Defence Force - don’t let interpreters and their families, siblings and parents die. Aussie soldiers relied on us - urgent visas are needed for ADF interpreters and their families left in danger, siblings and parents. My name is Raz Mohammad and I am the leader of Former ADF interpreters in Australia. I have risked my life and my family members lives for 10 years to serve the Australian Defence Force and USA forces as an interpreter and culture advisor in Afghanistan. But I’m terrified for the former ADF interpreters and their families members still trapped in Afghanistan who could be killed  because of our affiliation with ADF – unless the government gives them Humanitarian visas to bring them to safety in Australia directory from Afghanistan. Aussie soldiers came back to Australia but interpreters and their families like siblings and parents are still left in danger in Afghanistan and struggling to live. They are experiencing discrimination and threats from both locals and insurgents like Taliban and ISS. “Guardian angels” is what Australian soldiers like Major Simon Quaglia called us. Some of us were shot, murdered, tortured for helping Australian soldiers and it happened to our families members like siblings and parents as well. But we didn’t give up on the ADF. They trusted and depended on us, so I never expected the Australian government to leave hundreds stranded in danger. I’ve personally met with South Australian Senators Nick Xenophon, Sarah Hanson-Young and Alex Gallacher who’ve all told me they support bringing these neglected former ADF heroes and their siblings and parents to Australia. But the Immigration Minister won’t listen or accept his government’s responsibility to intervene. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Australian people, this is my last hope. Please help me save the lives of former ADF interpreters like me and their families by granting them emergency humanitarian visas. Thank you for reading.
