The child care industry is suffering and near extinction.
We need the help of our legislators to continue to provide quality care to the children of Colorado. The expectations of full teacher credentials during a global pandemic are unreachable.
Those that have been in our field for decades are currently leaving due to a lack of professional protective gear and a lack of resources. Still, more importantly, they are leaving because they feel disrespected, unheard, unappreciated, and overworked.
Now with public schools going back only part-time, we will lose a dramatic proportion of teachers that have stayed so that they can “e-school” their children.
We need change, we need understanding, and we need leniency.
1. Allow us to hire candidates that will pass background checks and have them qualify as “assistants” with 20 levels 2 hours on PDIS.
2. Allow us to hire candidates that will pass background checks, have 20 hours of PDIS, and take EQUIT as well as Pyramid Plus within 90 days of employment. These candidates will qualify as group leaders. Both options will be valid for only one calendar year as a form of certification.
We are desperate for help with staffing. We have dedicated our lives to helping the children in the State of Colorado and we need your assistance to help provide quality care.
