Riot Prevention Petition: Washington BLM Protests

Across the country, peaceful protests have turned into violent riots often at the hands of the police department. In order to prevent such chaos, we the people of Washington demand that the police and National Gaurd to stand back and give Washingtonians a platform to safely and peacefully protest. The police's confrontational presence through riot gear and aggressive behavior will only exacerbate the situation. We want these protests to be as safe as possible so that everyone feels safe and comfortable to share their voices. We the people of Washington demand minimal police presence and no riot gear in order to keep our people safe.

Petition to Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles City Council, Eric Garcetti, LAPD Chief Michel Moore

    No Policing at BLM Protests

June 1st, 2020 marks a week since the death of George Floyd, a victim of police brutality who was murdered by Derick Chauvin and his three accomplices of the Minneapolis Police Department. Across the nation, thousands of people have attended peaceful protests to honor his death, as well of those of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Sean Reed, Tony McDade, and countless lives of other black Americans. Together, people are standing in solidarity for those who have lost their lives to law enforcement as well as showing resistance to the systemic racism in America through the Black Lives Matter movement. Unfortunately, many of these peaceful protests have turned into violent riots, often at the hands of the police. Many of our protesters in Los Angeles have suffered being shot at with rubber bullets, tear gassed, run over, beat down and other forms of police brutality. In addition, the police’s confrontational presence through riot gear and aggressive behavior has only exacerbated the situation. Due to the hostile environment created by the police at the protests, many protestors are forced to flee in order to stay safe and not risk getting injured or potentially losing their lives. This creates an indirect abuse of our 1st Amendment Right, the right to assembly, and it shows the injustices of the policing system who respond with force, violence, and deviate the peaceful protests into intense riots. Only 2 weeks ago, white supremacists were protesting the COVID-19 stay-at-home order armed with military-grade assault rifles, harassing law enforcement, and threatening to form a militia yet were still protected by police. Today people who attend the nonviolent Black Lives Matter protests are met with inhumane treatment. We need a place to express our mourning and frustration of the lives taken by law enforcement and face no harm in our safety. As a result, we the people of Los Angeles demand that LAPD stand back and give Angelenos a platform to safely and peacefully protest. We the people of Los Angeles demand minimal police presence and no riot gear in order to keep our people safe. We the people of Los Angeles demand that Michel Moore resign as LAPD Chief of Police due to the insensitive comments made about the killing of George Floyd and the protesters of the Black Lives Matter movement. We the people of Los Angeles demand that Mayor Garcetti and the LA City Council witness firsthand the mistreatment of their civilians and stand up in solidarity at the frontlines with them.

Free Matthew Rushin (Autistic College Student @ ODU)

On January 1, 2019, Matthew Rushin was a Black, autistic mechanical engineering student at Old Dominion University. He had a job where he was earning money, he had a girlfriend, he had friends, and he spent his spare time writing poetry, photographing nature, composing music, spending time with family, and volunteering with local charities, especially those who served the indigent (homeless) population.  On January 4, 2019, Matthew was heading to his job at Panera Bread to get some pastries and meet his new girlfriend as she got off her shift. As he pulled into the shopping center plaza, a man leaving the liquor store failed to remain stopped at a stop sign and grazed Matthew’s SUV. This accident was minor and common for that entrance. Matthew tried to get the man to move out of the intersection, but he remained there, illegally, making calls on his cell phone.  Matthew maneuvered around the parking lot, trying to prompt the man to pull off to the side. When the man wouldn’t move, Matthew felt overwhelmed by a panic that was unlike him. He started crying uncontrollably, trying to practice breathing exercises to get his emotions under control. This kind of emotional response was not typical for Matthew, and he was having a hard time understanding what happened to him.  After driving approximately two blocks, Matthew realized that he needed to return to the scene, even if it wasn’t his fault. He made a U-turn, and at that point lost consciousness. Matthew would describe over and over to detectives that he ended up in oncoming traffic and only remembered the LED lights of a vehicle he struck, but he did not realize he had traveled approximately a quarter of a mile between the U-turn and being in oncoming traffic. A few hours later, he would be charged with attempted murder. After the collision, Matthew reported that he “came to.” He screamed and asked for someone with a knife to cut him out of his vehicle (the airbags had deployed). Eventually, he climbed out the back of his SUV (the doors would not open), having lost his shoes along the way. It was raining and frigid, he was confused, and he was trying to understand what happened. Immediately, he was grabbed by a bystander who restrained him.  Another man, seeing a young Black male and an older white man, assumed that an altercation was taking place and came to assist by also restraining Matthew. As he’s standing there, being restrained by two strangers, barefoot, addled, confused, and bleeding from the head, one of the people involved in the crash approached Matthew, yelling, “What the fuck were you trying to do? Kill yourself?”  Witness testimony on what Matthew said following this confrontation was inconsistent. The man himself said that Matthew responded, “I want to die.” The police reported that Matthew said he wanted to kill himself. Matthew could not remember what he said.  When an autistic repeats something someone says, it is known as echolalia. It’s repeating things (like an echo) to help process them. Echolalia is especially common when an autistic person is in a state of overwhelm.  This response was the primary evidence used to charge Matthew Rushin with attempted murder. Later, this charge would be elevated to 2 counts of aggravated malicious wounding, a class 2 felony equivalent to first degree murder. Despite reporting loss of consciousness and disclosing his autism and ADHD diagnoses, Matthew was not transported for medical attention or evaluated. He was denied bond and access to medical appointments from the accident until after sentencing, despite having a cyst on his brain which requires annual MRI visits.  Matthew had a blood alcohol level of 0.00. He had no drugs or alcohol in his system. He was interrogated for hours and hours, and his story remained that he did not intentionally drive into traffic, but his loss of consciousness was painted as a suicide attempt.  Matthew's diagnoses:  Autism, ADHD, Anxiety Disorder, PTSD (from a Jan. 6, 2017 single car accident in snowstorm which left him with a serious brain injury and other physical injuries), traumatic brain injury, and a Rathke’s Cleft cyst on his brain. Following the accident in 2017, Matthew had seizures believed due to the traumatic brain injury; however, a seizure may have caused the accident.  At the time of the accident that led to his convictions, Matthew was still battling the effects of his TBI, and to this day the side effects continue to worsen.  Despite the well recorded physical and mental health history, his trial counsel failed to adequately advise Matthew and address that medical issues or Matthew’s neurodevelopmental diagnoses (autism and ADHD) could have contributed to the accident. She provided ineffective assistance of counsel by pressuring Matthew into pleading guilty to the charges despite his parents’ ardent protests to the “deal.” Matthew’s attorney went to the jail where he had been detained since the accident and advised him that if he signed it, he had a 50/50 chance of going home; otherwise, he was going to be in prison for the rest of his life.  Matthew believed that signing the plea deal meant that he was agreeing to lesser charges, not admitting to guilt. The lesser charges, however, still carried a maximum potential sentence of 50 years.  The original charge of attempted 2nd degree murder had a max of 10 years.  Before the plea deal, charges of aggravated malicious wounding (with a 20 year mandatory minimum each and a max of life in prison) had been added along with a felony hit and run with injury, a charge that would not even have been legally applicable to the events which transpired. In Virginia, a person involved in a hit-and-run has 24 hours to report the incident. Matthew was returning within two minutes of leaving the parking lot. There were no injuries in that collision, caused by “a moving vehicle” at a stop sign. That charge was an additional ten years on Matthew’s sentence. Echolalia: When Matthew climbed out of the back of his vehicle (all the air backs had deployed, so he had to exit the back).  He was in a state of high distress which witnesses described as: agitated, a little in hysterics, distraught, he didn't seem like he was all there, he wasn't really answering very well, his speech was a little slurred, disturbed-like mentally at that moment, like maybe shock, he wasn't receiving what the police officer was telling him, he was moving his head around a lot, flailing his arms quite a bit, wasn't receiving information (from bystander holding him and telling him to calm down and suggesting he lay down), it's like he didn't hear me, impression that even when the officer came up he was not understanding what was being communicated to him by witness or officer. His neurodivergence (autism and ADHD) and other relevant diagnoses (PTSD, Traumatic brain injury, anxiety) were not considered when interpreting his responses or his actions. Instead they exploited his vulnerabilities as they questioned him for hours.A forensic crash reconstruction physicist examined all of the evidence related to the crash and stated with confidence that there was no indication of a purposeful suicide attempt and that crash data recovered from the vehicle’s “black box” was consistent with pedal misapplication. He offered forensic analysis to demonstrate that the collision was in no way consistent with a suicide attempt.

Petition to United States Supreme Court, Donald J. Trump, President of the United States

    BLM Act 2020

Better Law Management Act 2020 will revise how law enforcement agencies in the United States of America are held accountable for the actions of their officers and how these police officers are dealt with by the courts. This aims to curb the current police impunity to justice which has resulted in the murder of innocent civilians across the country, particularly in the African-American Communities; and through heavy reparations close the socio-economic divide that's plagued America for 400 years. This bill will be put before the house of representatives to bolster the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 and build upon Martin Luther King's work that led to the Civil Rights Act 1964. This will be another landmark act for progressive politics in America by enacting these principles: For all police officers shall be found guilty of murder for any civilian death within their custody through their own actions or inaction, unless through self-defence. For all police captains to be charged with manslaughter is one of their police officers is found guilty of murdering someone in their custody. Each death will also be punishable by a $1,000,000 fine to the offending precinct awarded directly to the victims family, or next of kin. Every police officer enrolled into the police force must swear to serve the people of the United States not the United States government and take a anti-bias test before graduation; so as a public agency they are bound to protect and serve. Anyone found unlawfully injuring civilian that poses no immediate threat will be removed from their position and fined $50,000. If that person assaulted is of African-American descent, this will be raised to $500,000 and paid directly to the victim. These are the fundamental bills to be enacted if enough support is granted. God Bless! #blacklivesmatter

We are bringing awareness to systemic racism by changing Winston Churchhill Blvd to Malcom X Blvd in peel region. Abolishing racism altogether by removing Winston Churchhill because he, himself had racist ideologies. Churchhill said some horrifying things according to CNN, "He said that he hated people with "slit eyes and pig tails." To him, people from India were "the beastliest people in the world next to the Germans." He admitted that he "did not really think that black people were as capable or as efficient as white people." Malcom X is a good role model for the generation to come. Here are two quotes, "You're not to be so blind with patriotism that you can't face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or says it." And "The future belongs to those who prepare for it today."

Make Juneteenth a State Recognized Holiday in Virginia.

Juneteenth via Wendell Lundy   Independence day is a negligent holiday in that it fails to acknowledge the fact that there were millions of Americans who were deprived of their freedom beyond July 4, 1776. It would be nearly a full century before Americans of African descent would be granted the liberty that has become America's clarion call. June 19, 1865 marks the day when all Americans became free and independent members of this great nation. As such, Juneteenth deserves equal footing with Independence Day as an American holiday.   It is only fitting that the movement to make Juneteenth a federal holiday should start here in the state of Virginia being that it is the birthplace of slavery in America. In addition, there is no better moment than this one in which we commemorate the 400 year anniversary of the arrival of the first African slaves at Point Comfort in Hampton, VA. If we can celebrate the arrival of the first African slaves, then how much more so should we commemorate the freeing of the last of the African American slaves on June 19, 1865—a day we affectionately know as Juneteenth. It is in this spirit that we petition the Commonwealth of Virginia to acknowledge Juneteenth as a state holiday with all of the honor and standing duly given to Independence Day.   Thank You. - #BLM757 aka #BlackLivesMatter757

We Stand with Mike Vick - 2020 Pro Bowl Captain.

We understand that people make mistakes, and from those mistakes we must grow. Michael Vick is beloved by his family, as well as his hometown of Newport News and local area in which we call “The 757” (Land of many BLACK athletic icons such as Allen Iverson, Gabby Douglas , Lawrence Taylor, Bruce Smith, and MANY more). We do not condone his actions that were displayed in the past, but Mr. Vick has paid those debts more than 10 fold. Not only was Mr. Vick incarcerated for his actions, he was also fined heavily. Since then, he has taken it upon himself to be a pillar of hope in the community putting on free football clinics for the youth , amongst other acts of greater good. He has also donated over a million dollars into the animals harmed.   11 years have passed, and Mr. Vick has shown that he is more than worthy of forgiveness. Mr. Vick is a loving husband, and father, who cares deeply about his COMMUNITY.  We the people will not stand by idle, as America attempts to tear down yet another BLACK man, and relinquish him of his well earned LEGACY. It is our hope that the NFL will keep Mr. Vick as the well deserved Pro Bowl captain of the 2020 exhibition.  All have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God, and deserve second chances... Yet he who is without sin, cast the first stone.  Unfortunately, there are people in this society that will not allow individuals to evolve and grow, but we are going to counter act that position.  It’samazing how some people in society can somehow be forgiven for their crimes and be allowed to move forward with their lives while others fall prey to constant and continuous condemnation and scrutiny. Just like he has individuals or groups that are against him, he has an ENTIRE VILLAGE that supports and stands with him!  For every action there is a reaction. These collected signatures are evidence that HE IS NOT ALONE.   Mr. Michael Vick WE support you... And may your legacy CONTINUE to grow  NFL We STAND with your selection, to have Mr. Michael Vick as 1 of your 2020 Pro Bowl Captains. #BLM757 #BlackLivesMatter757
