Petition to Election Commission of INDIA, http://eci-citizenservices.nic.in

    Write for Empowered NOTA

The present NOTA provision given for citizen is found ineffective.Honourable election commissioner of India has independent power to amend rules and conditions in the existing election policy. However it is invariably observed that most of Indian citizen particularly youngsters are very much disappointed with the present political parties for their corruptive and anti human-being activities. It was shown in the recent protest on jallikattu issue in Tamilnadu. Under this circumstances if ECI not giving any effective value for NOTA ,percentage of people casting their vote in forthcoming election will become very low.Instead if ECI makes some amendment as suggested below, it will give remarkable changes in our country not only from politicians , disciplinary movement among the public as well.1) If NOTA got more than 50% votes in any one assembly constituency, all participated candidates and their parties should be banned for another 10 years including national parties -disqualified to contest in any kind of election. However the disqualified candidates and any of their party members those who are currently holding MLA or MP position ( including for Rajya saba), they must be called back from those position and not eligible for next 10 years to become MLA or MP( including Rajya saba).2) Once above incident happened subsequent election will provide half of the year only for selected candidates to rule the government. So next election will be done after two and half years. The content of the above amendment proposal shall be modified with enhanced empowerment according to the knowledge , experience and responsibility of our Honorable election commissioner of India , as he has an independent power to make such amendments. Kindly do not close this grievance as a suggestion as you have done for my previous Complaint no TN/16/141/508743 Dt 27.01.2017 lodged on your web site https://eci-citizenservices.eci.nic.in Empowering NOTA is a must one otherwise it dose not have any sense for holding the provision.Kindly clarify whether ECI has the independent power for making amendment in the "provision of clause{a} of rule 64 of conduct of election rules 1961 and section 65 of representation of the people act,1951" or not. If not kindly let me know who has the power.

Banks should be empowered to publish list of defaulters to save themselves and the nation

The Nirav Modi scam has  shaken the entire nation. A day after, the Kothari scam has surfaced. Earlier, the Vijay Mallya rocked the country. These are a few examples which has resulted in tarnishing the images of Banks and bank employees. Besides, the banks and country suffered great financial loss. "A stitch in time saves nine," needs to be implemented here. The banks seem to be helpless before these big names and wait till everything is lost or goes beyond their control. The excuse is the Fudiciary relationship barring the banks from taking such a step. In case the government is really interested in transparency and honesty, it should make necessary  amendments in the law to empower banks to publish the names of big defaulters so as to stop them from living respectable life at the cost of public money.  All the defaulters can not be allowed to leave the country to escape repayment .They can  not live comfortably once their names are made public. The politicians will also hesitate to help them. Moreover , once they are defamed they will not be able to bribe the concerned officials. Hence , my humble request to the PM to make necessary amendments to the law to enable banks/RBI/IBA to make the names of big defaulters public.

    Petition to Calgary Police Services

    Reopen Cindy Kumis Case

We're collecting signatures in hopes to get Cindys case reopened. Please sign & share. Calgary police drop investigation into suspicious death of aspiring young 22 year old black female, Cindy Kumi. On the evening of August 25, 2018, at the age of 22, Cindy Kumi got into a vehicle to get a ride home from those who had picked her up earlier, for a fun night out in Calgary. Hours later her body was found on east Memorial drive, west of Deerfoot, after having been hit by a vehicle. Calgary Police, at the time, stated that ‘no charges would be laid against the driver who struck Cindy, as a pedestrian would not have been expected to be at that location, nor at that time’. (Source: Global News; September 14, 2019 Carolyn de Castillo, Calgary mother of woman killed on Memorial Drive seeks justice: ‘I need someone to tell me what happened’) CPS’s statement appears to show fault being placed on Black lives, regardless of whether the victim was in a location not expected of pedestrians. This statement also appears to echo similar responses to these situations by police forces in the US and Canada throughout Black history. This is a historical pattern of repeated Black lives missing, dying, and disregarded. Met with silence, police inaction and gross apathy, Cindy’s case joins in the echoes of many such tragic deaths throughout six hundred years of enslavement and racial terror. Her death is both a cry and a wakeup call to end this gross indignity and disposal of Black lives. Enough is enough! Duty and empathy of responsibility must be given to these lives, Cindy’s life.

Petition to World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, World Association of Girl Guides and Girls Scouts, With the experience of carrying out life, With the experience that Srilanka Girl Guides have aft...

Girls should be empowered and equipped with Life skills that could be for their safety.

Mostly Rural Girls do not have sufficient knowledge of life skills to take care of themselves as they are ignorant and lacking in communication skills, observation and awareness of life skills to protect them from unwanted situations from their neighbors, friends, and relations. They believe in myths and do not change their attitudes to go forward to be good healthy citizens who can live a happy useful life.  SriLanka Girl Guides Asociation already carried out programmes such as "Free Being Me",  "Girl Child ( Safety of children and adolescent Nutrition) for the rural and urban schools. With the experience of carrying out programmes in the rural community, we identified what was lacking and that inspired us to initiate the"Community Guiding" project to Empower girls and young women to be useful citizens with our theme  "For Her World" .

High schoolers empowered to digitally tell the stories of elders

Social isolation is a problem for both all seniors and all youth alike, despite social media. The two generations don’t mingle and are even afraid of each other. The older generation has so much to share, and the younger so much to learn. Young immigrants often do not have access to their own grandparents who remain overseas, and therefore miss much informal guidance and acculturation to the new world they now inhabit. Meanwhile elders in  Quebec society (and other provinces) are relegated to seniors' residences or face loneliness in their own homes. Modern society has been afflicted with the isolation-silo phenomenon for many years, and the pandemic has only worsened the situation. Cultural communities and Indigenous communities are known to have lessened the issue by intimate sharing of family spaces by both generations. Our solution is to empower youth and seniors by enabling them to engage with each other through mentored youth-production of digital stories about our elders. Becoming life-long friends with elders by telling their story is the bond so perfected by certain societies, and now can be rebooted in our society through technology and youth creativity. Petition to California State Senate

Require Elected & Empowered Community Police Review Boards

De-funding & changing Use of Force policies are important steps but require enforcement by the Communities that police departments are sworn to serve & protect. An elected civilian review board with the power to fire, impose sanctions, and approve and control the use of public funds is essential to change and accountability. The current system of appointment (where boards exist at all) reinforces cronyism and must be replaced by transparency. CA needs to mandate the public election for a two-year term of a review board in any City or unincorporated area with a population of more than 5,000 residents with the authority to review policy, procedures, complaints, operating budgets, and performance. Every community has a right to expect equal protection under the law and a police department that reflects its needs, supports its residents, and treats all who live, visit or pass through with equal respect, restraint, and responsibility. CA needs to assert its progressive leadership and set the standard for the Nation at this crucial moment. Demand change to defund, disarm, and disempower.

Petition to DCPS, Deputy Mayor for Education, DC Charter Schools

A Safe and Equitable Reopening with Outdoor Learning!

**En español abajo...*** UPDATE: It's been a long year of contentious debates between returning indoors and staying virtual.  There's been great success in pilots of outdoor learning in DC but it hasn't scaled up enough.  This is a safer, viable option to reopen our schools. See full update below and help us ask Mayor Bowser for a $4 million fund for outdoor learning (email: muriel.bowser@dc.gov and paul.kihn@dc.gov). There is significant evidence that being outdoors significantly reduces the risk of spreading the virus.  We can minimize COVID-19 exposure risk, maintain adequate social distance, and educate all of our city’s children fully every weekday if we plan well. Teachers believe this should be contingent on safety precautions, equitable access across the city, secure areas, cleaning, weather considerations, sound and health- but that city leaders should explore this idea NOW.  This idea has taken hold in other cities, states and around the world with innovative solutions.   DC's Mayor chose to close streets to allow for outdoor dining- why not close them for outdoor education?  By closing streets, allowing use of public parks, parking lots and other spaces- we can have an EQUITABLE approach that allows all schools to use outdoor space, improve student mental health, allow adults to go back to work, improve physical health and make sure our educators are safe. Check out how Denmark made it happen. Denmark and many other countries have smartly recognized that the easiest and most effective way to ease back into in-person education is by starting with the youngest grades- those who cannot stay home alone and for whom technology is an even less effective delivery method. We've all experienced the downsides of virtual learning- including too much screen time for our children.  The Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of California, Berkeley (https://www.lawrencehallofscience.org/ collected data across multiple cities in California and found that over 60% of children in low-income neighborhoods never turned on their school-issued devices. A WTU teacher survey found this is also the case here in DC>  It's time to focus on another approach. Check out this one-pager on the reasons and FAQs for outdoor learning in DC.  Please sign on and share.  You can ask the DCPS Chancellor to consider this by emailing Lewis.Ferebee@k12.dc.gov and the Deputy Mayor of Education (who oversees planning for both DCPS and Charter Schools) at paul.kihn@dc.gov.
