What's a poet laureate? A poet laureate is a city poet that is officially appointed by a mayor, city council, or conferring institution. 

The aim of this position is to enhance the presence and appreciation of poetry, literary art, and artistic expression of all kinds in San Bernardino. 

We collectively believe that San Bernardino's inaugural Poet Laureate should be Brandon Allen, also known poetically as When Thunder Speaks.

Our goals:

1. Educate the youth by teaching healthy emotional expression through creative writing
2. Inspire the creatives through literary art like poetry, spoken word, and creative writing
3. Rejuvenate the city as we encourage literary and artistic awareness to our community at large
