Animal Hoarding is a form of animal cruelty. People that do this may think they are helping by bringing the animals in, but in reality they are actually causing more harm. Animals are not properly taken care of, they may have many problems. Some of these problems may be lack of food, unsanitary enviornment, and no veterinary care. People that hoard animals usually are put into three cateragories; The overwhelmed caregiver, the rescuer hoarder, and the exploiter hoarder. People that usually do this are mentally ill and need help.

Animal hoarding is a horrible thing, there are about 3,500 cases a year. Also about 250,000 animals of all kinds are affected. Many of those animals do not survive when there are involved in a case of hoarding. There are also many cases that go unreported. Animals would be better off in a shelter where they get proper food and water.

Animals all around are in hoarding cases. This problem is everywhere, all around the world, in your state, or even your city. By signing this petition you might be able to help protect animals from being hoarded in the state of Michigan. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We are talking about the bigger scale. When you have 500 cats and don't know where half of them are due to there being so many of them. It's okay for people to have multiple animals, but not an extreme amount to where you can't take care of them. It's ridiculous. People starve, beat and neglect the animals that are in a hoarding situation. Most of them are disease ridden animals that can't be taken into a shelter because they are a harm to the others. Or they are to a point where there is no hope for them. The difference between a shelter and a hoarders home. In a shelter, they have food, water and a roster, you could call it, to where they know how much they are being fed and watered, what shots they get and how their behavior is. In a hoarding home, they have to fight for food, water and attention. You can't keep track of how often they eat or drink because not every animal gets the same amount or any at all. Sometimes they get so hungry that they end up eating eachother. There's a point that you cross when you do that. You have a problem and you need to face it. If you care so much about the animals, give them a better home. An actual chance at life.

Sorry, but I don't think there's a need for law, what kind of alternative will these animals have? Being murdered in a gas chamber? The number of animals in one home is mostly increasing, because of the lack of alternatives and the fear of their owners about their future. It's often difficult to fund them and their owners begin to hide the circumstances from the neighnours who mostly just quickly condemn, but rarely help to improve the circumstances in order to make it possible that the community which had grown together could stay together.

As long as not wanted animals have to die in shelters and streets while we are still breeding their followers, we should not condemn these persons but help them improve the circumstances at their sites, neuter if still necessary and don't take the animals away from them.
