The Weatherford shelter would rather kill animals than save them. The goal of most shelters is to help homeless pets find a home, to help rescues save the dogs. However, Weatherford has proven that they put the animals last. This was the unfortunate case for a dog, formerly known as Buddy. Microchipped, neutered and fully vaccinated, Buddy had learned tricks and commands, walked well on the leash and was a happy, year old lab mix. He was in foster with a group that unfortunately was shut down, and even though there was correspondence from multiple parties searching for the dogs the rescue had that were taken by animal control, most went unanswered or ignored. Slowly the dogs started emerging at the shelters they were originally from, except for a few the ended up staying at Weatherford. Most of those dogs were not even online when Buddy was finally spotted on the Weatherford website. A rescue tagged him, sent a volunteer to go pick him up, yet he wasn't anywhere to be found, but several other dogs they did not even bother to post were! It was soon revealed that poor Buddy had been the victim of negligence and lack of compassion. The shelter workers neglected to put the rescue information on his kennel card and a PERFECTLY HEALTHY, HIGHLY ADOPTABLE dog was killed! Buddy was MURDERED by this shelter, even though a rescue was coming to get him! The people in charge need to be held responsible for his and every other unnecessary death that occurs at the shelter! Stop the murder of animals tagged for rescue!

I had a very close friends family pet, "Johnny Cash", killed by an animal control officer in Weatherford. Having known this dog I feel that there were no proper steps taken in this sad situation and the loss of a precious life due to the officers stupidity.

I am signing this because one of me beloved dogs was lost to the weatherford animal shelter. His name was dude and he was taken from his home on the ranch in peaster and put to sleep because of his breed. So wrong. He was the sweetest most loving animal anyone could ask for.

I had a close friend watching my dog as well as had 5 of his own. They took two of his dogs at random one day and forced him to sign paperwork signing over the dogs or else they would arrest him... the next day was a holiday, i tried calling all day long and no one ever answered. the day after that I got a hold of someone and was informed the two dogs I was looking for had been put down the day before. A holiday. When no one could stop them or come PAY THEM MONEY to pick up the dogs.

Yes, they killed my gentle as can be Pit Bull. I was threatened with jail if I didn't surrender him to Animal Control. He was one of several dogs I had "unrestrained" on my ranch 10 miles out of town. As quick as a friend called the shelter to ask about the dog, he was put down. It's a long story but now I have NO use for Parker County Animal Control or the Weatherford Shelter. If a dog is considered a "vicious or aggressive" breed by these people it will never leave that shelter alive.

Why would you kill an animal tagged for rescue? Because the people killing the animals Don't care! People that don't have a heart for the animals should not be allowed to work with the animals.
