Washington State Legislature: Take Action on Climate

It’s incredibly refreshing to have a politician in a position of power that has such a strong commitment to combatting climate change.

Governor Jay Inslee recently quoted in the Seattle Times: “If you have a huge problem that becomes worse over time, it doesn’t mean you should start later, it means you should start earlier,” he said. “This is not something that we just have to worry about with our grandchildren. It’s happening today.”

But he can’t do it without your help!

One of Governor Inslee’s first steps in this fight has been to introduce a bill (SB 5802) which  will evaluate the climate pollution reduction programs of other states and Canadian provinces and use their experiences to develop a plan to achieve our climate limits (set in statute in 2008).

Real steps to curb climate change need to happen now. Stand with Governor Inslee and ask your legislators to make Climate Action in Washington a reality.

Currently Washington sends approximately $15 billion each year to out of state oil and gas companies. With a booming clean energy economy, those dollars could be invested with Washington companies to create Washington jobs.

We all know that action on climate is needed now, Governor Inslee has testified twice on these bills and now legislators need to hear from you.  Will you stand with Governor Inslee and for action on climate change?
