Recreation Therapy is a highly effective therapy that uses the things most enjoyable to the client, the things that they can most relate to, their recreation and leisure interests, as a tool to provide them with treatment that is goal oriented and measurable and that addresses all aspects (physical, emotional, social, cognitive, as well as spiritual) of a person's health to improve their over all quality of life!!

Life is important to me, so the quality of every individual's life is important. It should be important to every person alive. Recreational therapists work with other allied health professionals on the interdisciplinary team to improve individuals lives in ways other disciplines are not qualified/ trained in. We are essential because we offer treatment plans which make amazing changes in a person's social, emotional, physical, and mental domain. We should remember the Americans with Disabilities Act, where it states every individual should be treated equally. "The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) prohibits discrimination and ensures equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in employment, State and local government services, public accommodations, commercial facilities, and transportation." (ADA.org). This is our law. Lets not deny individuals their right to the quality care they deserve and need!

As a future CTRS I believe that the service of a recreational therapist is highly important in the needs of others and should be recognized as any other health service would.
