For at least the last three years Division III Nationals has been scheduled on the weekend of most graduations at the D-III schools. The purpose of the separation into D-I and D-III championship series was to give more schools the opportunity to compete at the national level; however this scheduling conflict forces many teams to choose between competing at Nationals and participating in the ceremonial culmination of four year’s of academic work. Even if schools are able to go, many are forced to go without their seniors, who after four years are some of the best players, which diminishes the level of play. We ask in the coming years for USAU to take graduation into consideration when planning nationals and schedule our series over some other weekend, possibly over the same weekend that D-I schools use, but in a different venue. We understand the difficulties of scheduling but want to be able to fully realize the chance given to us by having a separate D-III championship series.
