Universal Background Checks , a Federal Ban on Military Style Assault Weapons and High Capacity Magazines

In the wake of the Newtown massacre of 20 little children and 6 adults, we can not sit back and allow illogical  politics to rule over common sense legislation  for public safety.

We need universal background checks ,  a federal ban on military style assault weapons and high capacity magazine clips .No matter how strong our NJ gun control laws are, if someone can go to another state and buy these weapons with no questions asked , and no background checks , then this jeopardizes the safety of New Jersey where these weapons are banned.

This MUST be done on a federal level and our NJ Congressmen need to put away their partisan politics and commit to serving  our families and children. Our voices need to be heard over the nonsense of the NRA. This is not a partisan issue --It is a human issue and a public safety issue. Our NJ  Congressmen are ultimately  responsible for our public safety  and they must be held accountable .

We are having a meeting of existing and new members tonight at 7:30 in Westfield at the First Congregational Church on Elmer St( next to the Chase Bank)
We were very disappointed in our meeting with Leonard Lance that he has taken NO PUBLIC POSITION on any of the proposals set forth by the president for initiatives to be enacted on a federal level--not even background checks. Please remember in order to keep NJ safe, PA has to also have a ban assault rifles and magazine clips , or else anyone can buy the deadliest of weapons and bring them to our state to murder our children. I told this to Mr. Lance in our meeting .,. He said " he always votes his conscience"
Let's see what his" conscience" is telling him now.
He has refused to meet with the 7th district constituents at Westfield HS on this burgeoning issue facing our country. We are working on getting other speakers to the HS on this issue facing our community for a public forum.

Enough is enough. No one needs an assault weapon or high capacity magazine to hunt or protect their home.
