My grandmother and grandfather were the original tentants of this council house at
7, Orchard Road, Lydney, Glos, moving in during the late 1930's. They brought up 7 children in this house, mum being one of them. Mum is 75yrs old and has lived at 7, Orchard Road, Lydney, Glos for all of her life. This is the only home she has ever known, its not big, its not posh, but its her home. Its where her mum and dad lived, its where she and her siblings got married from, went to war from, where she gave birth to her 3 girls. The house and gardens are full of memories for all of us and hold a deep connection to mums and our past, these things becoming more important as we get older. Its where mum feels safe, content , secure, happy and it is surrounded by family, neighbours and friends. She doesnt want to leave this house and she should not be forced to move so that her home can be demolished allowing the housing association to build a development on her large garden.

NO;5 has become the target of anti-social behaviour and is costing them to manage the empty property?????????????????????????????

We have asked for the keys to number 5 to carry out our own structural survey, one that will be complete. However no communication has been received as yet concerning our request. Surprise, surprise.

    4. Structural survey

      Julie Jenkins

I picked up the structural survey performed on NO:5 Orchard Road on Wednesday. This is the survey that would have proved beyond a shadow of a doubt the claims of Two Rivers housing about the house that adjoins mums.
It was missing 5 sections !, particulary it was missing the summery of conclusions, reached by the company that carried out the survey. Two Rivers have justified the missing sections saying that they are commercially-sensitive and so it would be inappropriate to share.
They also informed me that they are not covered by the Freedom Of Information Act, I guess thats a polite way of telling me that I should be grateful for what I did get.

I have now asked for the keys to NO: 5 to carry out our own survey, any guesses what the answer will be?

    6. A man called Brian

      Today I was overwhelmed.
A man I only know as Brian, not a young person called into my salon yesterday because had picked up on this business about mums house. Brian has known my mum and my grandmother for years, having lived around the corner from them at Orchard Road years ago.
He came into the salon and took two petition sheets. Today he came back and gave them to me filled with 108 signatures. Now thats what I mean by a neighbourhood, its about living by people that care about eachother, that hurt when they hurt and know the difference between right and just plain wrong.
      Thankyou again Brian

Mum is adament she will not move, so Two Rivers looks like you will have to evict her, drag her out or bulldoze it down over her head. The cameras will be there.
      Very bad publicity I think.

Mum thanks everyone for the support being given to her.
She is baring up but is still not eating and has lost 12lb, under normal circumstances she would be pleased. Dad died 33yrs ago today so that doesn't help how she feels.
On the plus point I think she is getting used to having her photo taken., now that's progress .

      Just to confirm
mums house at No7 Orchard Road, Lydney does NOT have structural faults and therefore does not need to be demolished.
No5 Orchard Road is claimed to be suffering with structural faults so bad that it needs to be demolished. However I still have had not had paperwork available to me that supports this. !!

This happened to my parents, and we could not stop it. I think it is wrong to make somebody who has lived at one address all their lives move just to allow a company to make money.

Elderly people should be treated with more respect, let this lady live out the rest of her days in the only home she has known.

5 generations of my family were either born, raised, married, have all of their childhood memories made here or have lived there for their entire lives, my Auntie is 75 years old, she should be allowed to live out her life in the place she calls home, not suffer the grief of seeing it demolished!

Because we all matter and make a difference in this World. Your Company could re-consider your intentions and plans of what you want to do with that property and create an amicable solution for all concerned, and still come out ahead in the long run. It is a great gift when we show our Humanity to each other.
