Grow the economy at home, Fight poverty abroad, Pass House Resolution 157

    1. Petition by

      Oak Park, IL

We are trying to improve the lives of millions around the globe.

It is now more important than ever to tell the government that the United States should reaffirm its commitment to peace and development around the globe. We want the United States to lead the charge in International Aid.

Passage of H. Res. 157 will help improve the lives of millions around the globe. In addition, it will boost our economy at home. International Aid will help create viable markets in the under-developed world, paving the way for the expansion of American enterprises in previously untapped markets. Demand will grow for American goods and services abroad and will lead to job creation at home. In these trying times, increased demand for American products and services is crucial to our economic revitalization. We can't allow international assistance to get swept under the rug.

House Resolution 157 ''expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that: (1) the elimination of poverty and hunger should remain key U.S. foreign and domestic policy goals; and (2) a Global Marshall Plan, which the President should implement, holds the potential to transform development assistance in a manner that would significantly reduce poverty.''

House Resolution 157 has been referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs but has yet to be reported to the House floor. Tell the House of Representatives and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs that you want to see this resolution passed.

Signing this petition will help put the United States back on track as a world leader in International Development

Bills like this can help improve lives around the world, fulfilling our moral duties to improve the welfare and well being of humans, no matter where we come from. I want to see my country, USA - a world leader, make this a top priority of actions to accomplish and to lead other nations to better the human condition.

95% of consumers live outside of the U.S. The passage of this legislation will help move the world's poor from barely surviving to consumers, which will not only improve their living conditions but also create new export markets for American business.
