The Tax Payers Alliance: Campaign against expenditure of taxpayers money on M. Thatcher's funeral

The TPA claim to stand for all taxpayers, we would like them to take up our call for prudent use of taxpayers money. M Thatcher's funeral should be privately funded - it is what she would have wanted. Corporate logos on the coffin, advert breaks during the service, product placement in prominent places, a fully ticketed event and a heavily sponsored souvenir programme.

As you claim to stand for TaxPayers, I would very much appreciate it if you took a principled stand again the spending of up to £10 million of our money on the funeral of M Thatcher. It really shouldn't cost more than £5,000 to bury or cremate someone in these times of austerity.

If anyone wants a big funeral, there's plenty of private money that can be attracted.

Thanks

Sincerely,

I strongly disagree with thatcher's policies, namely privatisation, and the decisions made on how taxpayers money is spent feels far from democratic. We do not want to pay for the witch's fancy funeral.

I am Scottish; she 'practised' on the Scottish because she had nothing to lose - as she had nothing to gain. She destroyed my proud hard-working father who lost his job due to her policies. She therefore destroyed my family's self esteem. Society does exist and the vast majority of people in this society hate her - and I mean HATE her - and will continue too. Therefore the members of this society should not have to pay for this miserable woman's funeral. What were the Tories thinking?!

There are plenty of things that 10 million can be spent on that can benefit our society, and I believe, based on the coverage of this event by mainstream media that this funeral is not justifiable as a public expense. I am putting forward this argument with all due respect to her friends, family, relatives, and those that knew her. They have my sympathy. Nothing personal against anyone but the funeral should be funded privately, and NOT paid for by the public.

This argument is based on logic. Based on the information in the press it is logical to assume that expecting the public to pay for this funeral is both unfair and hypocritical when the ordinary citizen has to pay out of his/her pocket for his/her families funerals. As this whopping 10 million funeral expense co-coincides with the cuts to disability allowance, job-seekers allowance and other vital public services, by imposing these double standards the government are alienating a very large percentage of the population.
