The release of Suzi our now 17 month old puppy

    1. Mandy Geary
    2. Petition by

      York, Australia

Our 17 month old Sharpei X pup Suzi is facing a very frightening and very real prospect of being put to sleep permanently by the York Shire Rangers.

We wrote a complaint letter about the rangers conduct and the constant Harassment on the 11th of March 2013 and a reminder on the 29th of March 2013 on the 3rd of April 2013 the rangers were at our address with a warrant to seize and detain our puppy.  Claims have been made about her that are untrue to the point of her allegedly attacking someone and we have unequivocal proof that our puppy is not the one who allegedly attacked this person.

This puppy was bought for a our then 8yr old little girl who lost her father in February 2010 to aid her recovery from PTSD ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). The seizure of Suzi has now sent our now 9yr old  daughter back over three ( 3 ) years  in her recovery

Suzi has never been aggressive to anyone even to the point that she allowed 2 and 3 year olds lay all over her.

For any queries, please email Mandy Geary and Shaun Geary at mandy.geary@yahoo.com.au

    1. Suzi is home

Well we have Suzi home at long last but this is no where near the end of our fight as now the restrictions that they have imposed on us to have her home are now causing her health issues. The court and the York Shire and their Rangers have imposed a 24/7 Muzzling on her apart from when she is eating and because of her sharpei rolls the muzzle is rubbing on her rolls under her neck and it has become red and sore and because the order states she can not leave the property for any reason we have to get advise from our Vet via email.

We are going back to court on the 13th of Jan to get this overturned but it does not help her until we can get it changed

    4. Suzi's Update

Just spoken to the Vet that Suzi has been staying with since Saturday morning , she is improving and getting better by the day. They think she might be released back to the rangers in the next couple of days which after this we are trying to stop from happening.
I was advised she has been a delight to have at the Vet. They have confirmed her breed which they have said is a Shar Pei X , and has been exercised while there. The young girl said she has found Suzi to be a nice pup, but because of her being impounded since April and during her informative years for training , she will need some retraining when she is returned to us. We have asked her for a list of people that they would recommend to do this.

    5. Suzi is sick in the pound

Just thought I would let you all know that while Suzi has been in the pound someone has given her some off meat or food and she is in a critical condition. They the SHIRE OF YORK are refusing to pay for her medical treatment and are saying we have to so i have arranged that Swan Vets are taking her in the morning and we are meeting her down there as they are even refusing to let us take her there. They told us they wanted to put her down and I told them to go take a running jump off a short pier.

They wouldnt even let us have her as she is so sick so I could care for her and make sure that nothing happens to her and they have refused that....So help me god if anything happens to our pup I am holding them all responsible for this and those so called RANGERS will be lucky to have a job at the end of it.

Please let this little girl have her friend back. Why dogs are treat differently to other animals is beyond me.

WHY has Suzi been impounded when there is PROOF it was not her. I feel that the power of Rangers/Shire Councils is too much at times. Suzi should be allowed to be at home until this accusation is sorted out. Especially for the little girl involved!!
