Repeal Article 14: Section 6 of the NC Constitution

Thousands of innocent people just lost their rights to be legally recognized for being loving and dedicated to the person they love for the rest of their life. Whether you are homosexual or heterosexual, the passage of this amendment sends the message that you are legally obligated to follow the beliefs of one group's religion in order to enjoy government benefits and protections.

We have reached an amazing amount of over 2,500 supporters in less than 24 hours. There is another petition out there that has well over 90,000 signers that was also started last night, and I think it would be a great help and effective for everyone who has signed this petition to also show their support for the larger one as well. This will make it so the votes are less spread out and can be condensed into one location

It's time for this childish discrimination to come to an end. If you voted for this you should be ashamed of yourself, and history will remember this in the same way racial discrimination is remembered.

I find it abhorrent that we have written into the state constitution discrimination against all kinds of living, committed relationships. This amendment passed by appealing to the prejudices and fears of rural North Carolinians and was very poorly written. Since same-sex marriage was already illegal in this state, what this amendment accomplished was to hurt any and all couples in any type of civil union and the children of any people in this type of relationship. The worst part of it is that the very people who pushed for passage do not expect it to stand--they expect it to be repealed--and were using it as a means to an end--to get out the extreme conservative vote for their own selfish purposes by stirring up fear and prejudice.

LOVE knows no sex. If a man wants to marry another man, its not harming anyone.

DISCRIMINATION should be the item here to be stopped. NOT you enforcing your views on 2 men who love each other, or who have been together for 5, 10, 20 yrs.

This form of DISCRIMINATION should be whats illegal, as it has the same outcome as BULLYING! Why are you being a bully, which is also illegal?

I was born in NC. I am gay and found my fiance there. I love him very much and he loves me also. We are a couple and we live work and both go to school just like any "normal" Americans. We were both in the United States Navy and have done our debt to our country that we love and we now want our country to love us back.
