      Orange, United States

It is important not to build a Memorial of the Confederate Veterans and also CSA, "Confederate States of American," on Martin Luther King Dr. The emotional attachment of each cause on both ends will be TOXIC for the area and community once mixed together; Especially on a street that symbolizes civil rights, equality, and unification; the City of Orange has no significant connection to the Confederate Veterans that fought in the Civil War. I cannot imagine more of a contradiction of beliefs. It is rediculous. Orange does not need such a shameful reminder of our past.

Holding on to symbols of historic domination and fear seems such a sad waste of time. Recognizing our unity as one human race and honoring cooperation is surely the way to move forward.

The rebel flag stands for the old south's most biggotted and racist , hateful views that have nothing to with honoring men that fought a 'civil' war. Much less about the poor white cotton farmer who couldn't afford slaves and eeked out an existence alone on such. This is an outrage and I will not stand for it. This flag should be banned and made illegal. It is my opinion it is much more dangerous than drugs.

There is a big difference between honoring a culture and honoring a people. To put up this flag is to honor an idea, rather then a people. We are 150 years past this era of hatred and war in our country, we cannot rebuild through living in the past.
