Marriage equality is important to the creation of families. Same-sex families can provide stable, safe, and loving enviornments for orphans, foster children, and adoptee children along with their own biological children. Denying these same rights and privileges denies these children suitable homes and famlies. The Mormon church as a whole has a strong emphasis on community and famiily which provides strong moral compasses for children. We are asking the church leaders to change the stances on marriage between a man and woman only. Marriage is the beginning of family creation no matter the orientations of the parents.. As long as the family is created in LOVE there should be no question about who the parents love or how the family is created.

Check out this "Proclamation" written and read in 1995 by former leader of the church President Gordon B. Hinkley.

Gayest US town? Surprise: It's Salt Lake City

Getty Images Forget San Francisco (18th) or New York (not even on the list) - the gayest city in the U.S. is Salt Lake City, Utah, according to The Advocate, the gay and lesbian newsmagazine. Rather than rely on the U.S. Census tabulation of gay and lesbian populations, which inevitably yield San Francisco as No.

"...in reality, gay people are born into and belong to every society in the world. They are all ages, all races, all faiths; they are doctors and teachers, farmers and bankers, soldiers and athletes; and whether we know it, or whether we acknowledge it, they are our FAMILY, our friends, and our neighbors."

I am a former member of the LDS church. I'm now currently in a very loving, caring, and stable relationship with a woman of my own gender. I believe the proclamation about marriage is not only discriminatory, but also promotes harmful views of LGBT families.

The way the Proclamation is worded now, it is not a tool to be used as an excuse device for bigotry. It is not a Thou Shalt not document. It is only affirmational of good things. LGBT people are valid good things and we should be included as valid, included people. Does our Church have "Bouncers" at our doors? Then let not the Proclamation ever be used as a tool of hate and "Bounce" LGBT people away from the Church we love and believe. Thank you.

Because a loving God wouldn't create individuals only to purposefully deny them the most important things in this life, love and family.

There are individuals who will never be attracted to the opposite sex. It is wrong of us to ask that these individuals live their whole lives without ever experiencing the joys of a sexual, committed, loving relationship.
