The California DSS/Licensing Division: Not to revoke Patty Kurdi Family Child Care License

    1. Petition by

      Parents Supporting Patty Kurdi

The California Department of Social Services is trying to revoke Patty's daycare license due to a dog bite incident that occurred with one of the children in her care. We feel that Patty Kurdi runs a safe and wonderful childcare service out of her home. And she does an exceptional job nurturing, teaching, caring and loving the children in her care. She goes above and beyond to give the children in her care a positive, fun, and educational experience with art projects, science projects, gardening, cooking, field trips to museums, farms, libraries, parks, music and play performances. She offers our children so much, and it would truly be a disservice to our families and our community to keep her from letting her do what she loves so much—care for children. Patty has also given back to the community in many other ways—6 years of 4-H youth adult partnerships, including club leader for 3 years, over 10 years of homeschooling, community service, and organization of science and social studies fairs, over 10 years childcare service. Please sign this petition if you feel that CDSS should not revoke Patty's license. We encourage you to tell why it is important to you.

No matter how perferct you try to do things, accident will continue to happen. I mean i think she should just be fined, but not have her license revolked.

I'll sign the petition but would suggest they find another home for the dog. Kids these days have no boundaries at home and tormenting a dog is not fair to the animal or the child. I don't believe that daycare centers should have dogs. Just my opinion.

Yes, there are 2 sides of the story (and the person who was actually there should hold a little more weight I think). The child provoked the dog after 3 verbal requests & 1 time being physically guided away from the dog, and then the child grabbed the dog and screamed. (Not that this should affect the outcome, but is relevant). The child's lip was cleaned appropriately, iced and immediately stopped bleeding, the child asked to go back and play with her friends. The lip didn't bleed afterwards and was the same as if she scuffed it falling outside. She was eating fine, napped fine, played fine, did arts and crafts fine, smiling, laughing etc. When picked up the mother spent ~20 minutes talking to my mom where it was mentioned that her other child was in emergency the day before for a face injury that was bloody and how she didn't want to go back there again. When comparing the pictures of her day at school to the pictures after she was picked up by parent, the parents' pictures look worse surprisingly. During her time at school she was supervised, attended to, loved, cared for and showed no signs of "trauma".

#1-This petition is to keep our dog from being euthanized and to keep our school open

#2-This petition is not to further attempt to spread elaborate stories about what people "think" happened VS fact

#3-If you DON'T support our dog being kept alive or DON'T want our school open DON'T SIGN IT, if you DO support our dog being kept alive and our school open PLEASE SIGN in support

Thank you to everyone who is using the petition asking for your support and posting appropriately in response. We appreciate those who have shown their support of our cause. Thank you. <3

This is an unfair revoking of a child care license. Patty does not pose a risk to any children and should not be shut down.
