Lower the age the stillbirth of a pre-term baby can be legally registered

Currently, only babies born after 24 weeks gestation can have their birth or still birth registered. A baby born stillborn, regardless of the circumstances, before 24 weeks cannot be registered and therefore goes unacknowledged by the country. Obviously, the families of these precious children will remember them, but families should also be allowed to officially register the birth of their child (should they feel they need to), regardless of why they came early or how early they arrived. Not being able to can cause deep and ongoing distress for families who are already grieving their lost children. Our children were here, they were alive, they had heartbeats. Furthermore, they were born and they deserve to be recognised in the official records of this country.

I went for my 20 week scan on Tuesday the 24th June, I was told my baby had died and I would need to deliver the baby. I spent nine hours in labour and delivered my dead baby. As I pushed him out I sobbed and sobbed that I would never hear him cry. Now I find out that I am the only person that thinks of my baby as a baby. All I hear from the professionals are how my baby isn't viable. Haven't we suffered enough?!

I lost 1 baby at 11 weeks, 1 at 6 weeks and most recently one at 22 weeks. Igave birth to my baby. He was a fully formed beautiful little boy. Why can he not be treated as such?

A baby is still somebody's child, even if they are stillborn, no matter how many weeks early.

Lost my baby at 36 weeks and believe any baby should be registered regardless of gestational age. Your heart is broken forever when you lose a precious baby.
