The Arkansas State Senate: Vote NO on HB 1770

    1. Robert Austin
    2. Petition by

      Robert Austin

      Little Rock, AR

HB 1770 will, if passed, allow state-takeovers of school districts to last as long as five years. Under current law, two years is the maximum. Two years is long enough.

To extend this big-government seizure of school districts for three additional years would be undemocratic and unAmerican. Parents, taxpayers, voters -- all have been robbed of their voices in school districts which have been taken over. Why? They cannot vote in school board elections. They are utterly disenfranchised, and at the mercy of appointed (not elected) officials of the Arkansas Department of Education. State-takeover is emergency-only. It should not be prolonged.

This is taxation without representation. It goes against everything America stands for. We call upon the Arkansas State Senate to reject this bad bill from the Arkansas State House, and allow local control of Arkansas schools to be restored in a timely manner.

Because its like being taxed and you can't even go to a board meeting to find out where your money is going. Dr, Guess is the most un porfessional person I have ever met. I do think Kimbrel is for him self and no one else. I can't believe Governor that you have not put a stop to this.

The state should release schools from state takeover after two years. Five years of state control is excessive. It removes the ability for schools to governed locally and make necessary changes in a timely manner that is relative to the community.
