Remove the standardized testing in our schools

These tests were intended to judge and hold the system and schools accountable but now are also measuring the intelligence and achievement of a student with it. This method being used is affecting not only the students, but the parents and teachers as well. The student is not learning what needs to be learned in school because the teachers are too busy teaching them how to pass this test. Parents and students and teacher are being pressured over this test. The test is not an adequate evidence of how much the child knows. The student could have had a bad night at home, maybe his/her parents are going through a divorce, or they are having health issues. It is unfair that a child can go their whole school year with excellent grades but if he/she fails this test they are not able to go to the next grade or even graduate.

Because it is nothing more than abuse to my children at the hands of the state. My children become stressed both mentally and physically when they know they are about to face the unrealistic demands of standardized testing. It is unfair to children to be abused in this manner because of lobbyists and politicians getting together and deciding for parents what is good for the children of the state of Texas. Governor Perry and Pearson Hall need to stay out of my children's education.

An exam is to measure the knowledge you've acquired from school, but what knowledge is gained if all that is taught is this Exam?

These tests are simply repitition and memorization. Students will not be prepared for college if they only memorize what the teacher isn't teaching. There is a difference between memorization and actual learning.

Because a test does not define my daughters intelligence. Her hard work and dedication will.
