Discontinue Pet Rent With No Added Fees for Pet Owners

All pet owners should not be financially punished for deciding to take an animal into their homes. Some pet owners, such as myself, adopted our current roommates because they weren't able to stay at their former homes.  My roommate is unemployed and has no source of income, therefore, to pay rent on her behalf doesn't make any sense.  Pet owners who freely adopt from shelters and rescue centers save local taxpayers money on advertising and TNR programs that are grant funded at time by the government.

All pet owners should not be punished for the negligence of irresponsible and careless pet owners.  On top of paying a pet fee and deposit to most apartment complexes, a monthly rent is then charged to the pet owner(s) regardless if the pet defecates outside or inside or is messy or not.  This is unfair to anyone who shares a living space with a pet who does not contribute to the uncleanliness of the apartment or complex.

Please support me in petitioning the TAA to forgo their committment to allowing apartment complexes to overcharge pet owners.

How can we encourage people to adopt a rescue if we penalize them and create obstacles for them to be able to afford to adopt one!

This is important to me because my mother is elderly, living on social security and really enjoys the company of her cat.

Encourage compassion.. don't suck money out of it. Its ok to make people responsible for their pet, but don't punish them for sharing a life with one.

Where does the pet rent even go? Oh yeah, right into your greedy pockets! Nobody but the complex benefits from pet rent.

I agree. Most of us who take on that responsibility are just that, responsible.
