Take Action to Stop Human Trafficking in Sinai

    1. Petition by

Eritrean Youth for Solidarity & Change + Right Now: Advocates for African Asylum Seekers in Israel

Hundreds of cases of trafficking, rape, abuse, torture, and exploitation have been documented by organizations and authorities in both Israel and Egypt. Many Eritreans seek refuge in Israel, but many never arrive as they die at the hands of the brutal traffickers along the way. Many victims fall prey to traffickers in the refugee camps in Sudan as well. This is a regional issue that must be dealt with through international cooperation.

This petition has been jointly written by Eritrean and Jewish community members in the United States. We ask you, conscientious citizens of the world, to join our cause: We cannot stand idly by while people suffer such atrocities. Please see the news items for reports on this topic.

Human Trafficking in the Sinai: Refugees between Life and Death.

As reported in the interviews torture is carried out routinely and includes severe beating, electrocution, water-drowning, burning, hanging, hanging by hair, and amputation of limbs - and is often a combination of these. Children, even the smallest of babies, are reported to have been beaten.

    5. Women Raped by Sinai Traffickers

Women raped by Sinai traffickers find help

The Sinai desert is a hub for people trafficking. Many of the refugees from sub-Saharan Africa who get smuggled through here get tortured and blackmailed in the process. Bedouin gangs - instead of trafficking the refugees straight into Israel - often hold them captive, torture them and force relatives into paying ransoms for their release.

By spreading the word I hope to touch people, and if enough people are touched perhaps the people who have some influence will act
