Stop the use of CO2 gas on our strawberries! Driscoll's, Dole and Naturipe are guilty!

CO2 has been used for over 40 years in the shipping of fresh strawberries from California, Florida and Mexico to grocery chains across the US and Canada.  This hazardous gas is released into our environment, at a count of millions of pounds per year at their final destination. The largest users of CO2 for strawberries are WALMART, COSTCO, KROGER and many more across the US. 

With everything that we have learned about CO2, why are we continuing to pollute the air we breathe?  CO2 levels have hit an all time high, at 400 ppm. There are other environmentally safer methods for preserving fruits and vegetables during transportation that do not include the addition of CO2.

      Any extra usage of CO2 must be stopped unless it can be shown it is vital to human health!

      This is a silly petition. CO2 is not generated for the purpose of treating strawberries and the use of CO2 on strawberries in itself contributes nothing, zero, zed, to atmospheric CO2.

      CO2 used for industrial, commercial, and agricultural purposes is captured as a by-product of other processes, such as combustion and fermentation, purified, and put to use. The CO2 is temporarily diverted from release into the atmosphere, purified, and put to use before being released. Attack the processes that generate CO2, not those that use it temporarily.

      When FRUIT companies are allowed to pollute the environment with MORE CO2 than the Automotive Industry, we need to pull the plug on them. This has gone BEYOND the point of being absurd and has become CRIMINAL !!
